Hotel Global Airport Frankfurt

Als das Taxi uns im Hinterhof (Hotelzufahrt über die angegebene Adresse) absetzte, waren wir schon ein wenig geschockt. Der karge Gang hielt das Gefühl aufrecht, der nicht anwesende Portier an der Rezeption zunächst ebenso. Der Mann war dann aber kompetent, freundlich und auskunftsfreudig, zeigte den Türmechanismus sehr gut am Beispiel. Das Zimmer war sehr ordentlich und sehr sauber, alles war heile und funktionierte. Der Frühstücksraum war dann aber nur auf dem Umweg über die Straße zu erreichzen, das Rührei schwamm im Fett und die Bestückung des Frühstücksbüffets hätte üppiger sein können als etwa mit nur einer Sorte Wurst.

When we were looking for a Frankfurt airport hotel we wanted something convenient, clean and inexpensive. This hotel is clean and the price wasn't bad, but for an airport hotel it isn't that close to the airport. It is 25 mins away if you take the local bus (terminal 1 stop 24)- we called the hotel to see how long a taxi would take and it is about the same. The bus is 2.5 Euros and the taxi was quoted as being 25-30 Euros, so we took the bus. It runs every 30 minutes. Apart from the Sheraton hotel, I couldn't find anything closer (!) Now that I've been to Frankfurt and see how quickly the subway gets into town, I think I would book a hotel in Frankfurt and then just rely on the train to get back into the airport. Hotel Global is in a neighborhood that is part country, part industrial and part residential. It doesn't have much character. The hotel, I think, tries to make up for it by having a ?Turkish/Oriental decor theme with modern overtones. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was huge- ?king?- two mattresses together. The pillows were synthetic but very soft, as was the comforter. The bathroom was clean with a modern decor. No bath tub but a glassed in shower stall. The room has a flat screen TV with lots of channels, an (empty) refrigerator, a view of a concrete jungle, and lots of storage space. The hallways are large open spaces and noise echos in them. There is a fitness room on the ground floor but I didn't go down to check it out. I think it is probably a weight room. The buffet breakfast comes with the price of the room- it was convenient and fine, but the fresh fruit was frozen, there wasn't much of a selection of rolls/bread, etc. The coffee was passable, etc. So a little ho hum. We didn't stay for any other meal so I can't comment on other meal options but I did notice a bakery on the corner. The only staff we interacted with was the fellow at the front desk and he was courteous and helpful, but not overly friendly. Overall, the hotel met our needs, but again- the distance to the airport and general character of the hotel and neighborhood might make me reconsider staying at Hotel Global in future - I'd rather stay somewhere with more options for walking, eating, etc. and with all the options near the train station in downtown Frankfurt it may make sense to compare hotels there.

Hotel Global does not have a shuttle service to the airport but you can access it via public transportation. At Bus Stop 24 at Terminal 1 take the 751 or 752 to Wildzaun stop, cross the street (there is a bakery/cafe on the corner) and walk along Am Wildzaun until you see the parking sign for the hotel (about 100 m). Follow the arrow and you'll enter the back of the hotel. The bus runs on the :05 and :35 from the airport and takes 25 minutes. At 2.5 Euros it is a deal. The bus goes back to the airport on the :01 and :31. I read one review that the hotel is close to another that has a shuttle. I did see that the Albatross Airport hotel is just around the corner from Hotel Global but I didn't investigate if there was a shuttle service or not. The hotel is in an industrial/residential neighborhood that doesn't have much character, but is within walking distance of an Italian restaurant (Ciao) and a shopping complex that has a grocery store. The room is clean and comfortable- modern with a modern/?Turkish decor. It has a small fridge, flat screen tv with many stations, and the bathroom had a modern raised sink bowl, and glassed in shower. There are no toiletries, save a hand soap dispenser at the sink and gel dispenser in the shower. There is no iron or coffee maker. The double bed was very large (?king) but with two mattresses pushed together. The walls are a bit thin and noise echos down the very wide central corridors. There is a casino next door to the hotel and late at night I heard people outside (?drunk) that I think were from that direction but it didn't last long. The breakfast buffet is plentiful (bread, rolls, cold cereal, juice, cold cuts, jam, cheese, scrambled eggs, coffee, tea) but uninspired. The berries were frozen, the rolls were very ordinary white ones, the jam was store bought. The coffee mediocre. I think breakfast at the bakery on the corner or at the airport might have been better. The front desk always had someone available and they were helpful and professional. Overall it was an OK stay, but next time I think it might be worth it to find a hotel with a bit more character that is close to the train station in downtown Frankfurt- given how frequent the trains are to the airport and the fact that it takes about the same amount of time as the bus from Hotel Global, it might be worth it.

I stayed at this hotel for an overnight layover while traveling through FRA. I chose it because it was cheap and close to the airport. The furniture was new, the decor modern, the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent; just wished I had had more time to enjoy it!

The staff is wonderful. The hotel is close to the airport, but not close enough to be noisy. Restaurants nearby are great. The beds were extremely confortable - too comfy to leave at 4AM for a flight.

I stayed at this hotel due to an early flight out of Frankfurt, Germany and I live an hour plus from the airport. This hotel was quiet and had all the neccessities for a short, overnight stay. I don't recommend for long stays, but was conveniently 6 miles from the airport.

I arrived a a long trip from tgeh US and found myself in a part of Frankfurt where I arrived at the back of a hotel...walked to trough teh hallway to find the front desk...this Hotel is visible under constraction. The phone in the room was not working and the TV volumn was not adjustable either. The bed was very hard and the hotel was visible for Middle East Customers. It would have been nice to know that upfront. I don't recommend this at all.

This hotel was very convenient to the airport, although no shuttle bus service is provided by the hotel. It is basic and clean and the breakfast was good. The only suggestion I make at the time of booking it should be stated that a non or smoking room is required. We were originally put on the smoking floor and had to be moved. Would use this hotel in the future
