The A&O Nuernberg Hauptbahnhof will provide 116 rooms in hostel and hotel; a top address for price-conscious city tourists, amateur historians, visitors to the Christkindl market, school groups and indeed, all the other guests here in Nuremberg. The completely refurbished building is located only a few metres away from Nurembergs main station and will offer you a choice between the classic single, double and family rooms in the hotel area and multiple-bed rooms in the hostel section. But whether hotel or hostel: shower/WC are now part of the A&O standard in all rooms. The A&O Nuremberg will also be an attractive place to stay for groups: seminar and conference rooms are being created as well as a teachers lounge, the already popular opportunity for group leaders and teachers to relax and work in peace. No one will find too much time on their hands, as Nuremberg offers innumerable many sights including more than 30 museums with contemporary exhibitions. Among the highlights are surely the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Albrecht Drers House, and the Documentation Centre Nazi Party Rally Grounds. The delightful mediaeval city is characterised by Nurembergs landmark, the majestic Kaiserburg. The picture is completed by romantic timber-framed houses, a 5-kilometre-long city wall dating from the 15th/16th centuries, and the market square Hauptmarkt -, where you will find the famous Church of The Lady and the fountain Schner Brunnen. In December it will be cozy as well as romantic, for it is then that Nuremberg plays host to the world-famous Christkindl market.

Wonderful

My sister and I were really impressed when we stayed here. As 'cheap and cheerful' accommodation goes, this place was great. Rooms were clean and comfy, reception/lounge/bar area downstairs is manned 24/7 and it's really chilled out. Wifi (for a small fee) was a big bonus. They also have a Sky Bar on the top floor, which was well-priced and a nice way to chill out & finish our evenings with a Banana Beer! Location is great, meer minutes away from the main train station and the entrance to the city. Ideal, as Nuremberg is the kind of city that you really want to walk around. Really can't stress enough how great the staff are too. Perfect English (since my German leaves much to be desired!), super friendly and really helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone on a trip with family or mates. Perhaps not for a romantic weekend away, but if you are simply looking for well-priced and chilled out accommodation to stay at whilst you visit the city then A&O does the job perfectly.

If you're visiting the Christmas markets, check the local supermarkets and department stores around the city for a good reference on price before you start spending your cash at the stalls. The department stores especially - they do awesome stuff at a fraction of the price of the same item in the markets. It's a real shame that the mark-up price of goods in the markets is high enough to constitute a 'rip off', rather than simply a fair mark-up in exchange for the experience, incredible as it is.
