My experience
Good: The room I stayed in was very clean, Its probably one of the best room if not the best. I have the view the Eiffel Tower while in bed. I spent several hours a day watching the tower light up. It is also close to the Metro station making it easy to go to other Paris attractions. Bad: Internet, phone call (local) and breakfast are not free and very expensive. Getting a stay extension or stay adjustment is also very hard.

Holiday Inn Stay
The hotel staff was friendly. Rooms small but to be expected. The location was good and close to shops and Metro station. The hotel was the most expensive in the area, and had the least amenities. There was no pool, spa and gym had only 3 pieces of equipment. Also, the food was extremely expensive at the hotel, and not much of a selection. A Coca Cola was 7 Euros!!! Most Cafe's only charge 3 Euros for the same size Coca Cola, so I was very disappointed that the staff failed to greet me with a map of the hotel that explained they had a vending machine on the 6th floor. The woman that checked me in was very friendly, but not very knowledgeable. The hotel lobby did not have brochures and or information for local restaurants and or things to do in Paris, and no phone book or book on Paris in the hotel room. That would have been nice had they had those things, as it would have helped to find things to do on a daily basis. I felt like I bothered the staff multiple times during the day asking how to get places or for restaurant and/or shopping recommendations. I would most likely recommend this hotel to a friend. However, I would suggest they look into the local hotels first, as they tend to be less expensive with the same quality standards, a great and inexpensive restaurant and same great location. The Hotel Ibis was across the street, and was beautiful with a price at 65 Euro's a night, whereas I paid 300$ a night!!!!

Shopping-Tipp:
Long walk from hotel
Do not waste your money on taking Taxi's. Everything is actually in close quarters and walking distance, even though the Eiffel Tower, Louvre and all other tourist destinations appear to be far apart. Just walk straight up Place De Clichy, and remember, no matter where you walk, you always end up back in that same area. You can take the Metro train or a bus anywhere you need to go. I highly suggest that you take the L'Opera tour guide bus to see the sights, which is a hop on hop off bus that takes you to all preferred tourist destinations for about 32 Euro's for 2 days. Also, shops and restaurants close early, so get an early start. Do NOT buy wine unless you plan on packing it and checking your bag. I made this mistake and it was taken from me, only having me re-purchase it at the airport. This was fine since it was very inexpensive. Also, most shops that sell wine do NOT sell French wine. Last but not least, wear your walking shoes or tennis shoes. The streets are uneven no matter where you go, but the sights are gorgeous and worth the long walks. Lots of shops and people watching along the way.

Holiday Inn Paris Porte de Clichy
Read several bad reviews, but it was a good stay. In Paris for one week. Not one problem. Late night front desk was a little cranky and unhelpful, but this was only issue. Everyone else treated me like VIP. My TV was not working one night, so called down to get fixed. The repair guy was at my door a couple seconds after I hung up. I still dont understand how they got there so fast.. Hotel food was just 'OK'. The best part of this location is you dont have to deal with the millions of other tourists you are bumping shoulders with all day in Paris center. It was nice to have space after long days of this.

Short drive from hotel
Champs Elysees is only 8 metro stops away for good shopping. There was suprisingly good shopping in Montmartre too, which was only 4 stops away (and only about a 20 minute walk).
