Schoolhouse Hotel

The Schoolhouse was a very pleasant place to stay. The staff were all very courteous, polite and friendly. We only had a few minor grumbles- the fan in our bathroom didn't work and the internet facilities weren't great. The TV reception wasn't very good either - but we didn't go to Dublin to watch TV! We tried to leave a tip with the receptionist for all the staff but she refused to take it!! Nice touch!

Reasonable rates, good breakfast (food is great but coffee could be stronger!), friendly staff, heavy black out curtains, warm and cozy. The walk to the center of Dublin (Temple Bar Area) takes about 20 minutes or faster by bus, but the pay off is that it is quiet! Very nice place.

Friendly staff, nice big rooms, excellent breakfast and free movies on TV. With a nice and cozy pub with good food. The bus to the airport (Aircoach) stops outside the hotel. Approximately 10 mintues walk to the Dublin Hop on hop off bus.

We had such a wonderful time in Ireland and staying at the School House Inn. We started our trip to Ireland in Dublin staying at the School House Inn for three nights and then when we came back to Dublin before our departure we stayed there two more days. This is a wonderful, picturesque, very pleasant hotel, made more wonderful by the staff. They are a pleasure to deal with. The staff response to the few problems I had were as though it was no big deal and easily solved. For example, I arrived three hours prior to check-in time and the clerk made some quick arrangements while I had a wonderful breakfast at their restaurant and got right in to a room. The food at the restaurant and bar restaurant was, again, wonderful. No reason to eat elsewhere, which I did, but found not as good. I recommend staying here before entering into a travel schedule through Europe and then again on your way back home. It will take any accumulated travel stress out of you.

Un hôtel plein de charme à 15-20 min à pied de l'entrée du Trinity collège, dans un quartier calme et aisé. La décoration des chambres est dans l'esprit des lieux, quelques touches de rustique tout en étant relativement moderne (par ex: dans le hall, un vieux poste radio transformé en lecteur mp3) . Les chambres sont très grandes ainsi que le lit et très propres. On y trouve les équipements attendus pour un hôtel de ce standing. Il ne faut, par contre, pas s'attendre à une belle vue des fenêtres des chambres. Le personnel est serviable. Nous n'avions pas les petits déjeuners inclus et il y avait un restaurant mais que nous n'avons pas fréquenté (assez cher quand même) cependant l'hôtel possède une partie bar-pub qui sert des repas très bons. L'hôtel possède un parking gratuit mais qui peut vite être plein (suivant l'heure d'arrivée) car les clients du restaurant et du bar peuvent s'y garer également, mais pour notre part nous n'avons pas eu ce problème. Nous recommandons vivement cet hôtel à part pour les allergiques de la marche à pied.

The hotel is clean, nicely appointed, and has a fabulous pub attached. The food was great, drinks even better. (Loved the pumpkin and barley risotto!) The staff were friendly and helpful. While it is a pretty easy walk to town, it is far enough that at the end of a long day walking in Dublin, it can be a hike. But that's small potatoes. Beware, some discount sites say breakfast is included. It isn't unless you pay extra BEFORE arriving. Great hotel. They also have free movies!

This hotel lived up to the positive reviews we read before booking. It was clean, roomy, and charmingly housed in an old parochial school. It is situated right by the Grand Canal in Dublin. The staff was friendly and receptive. The breakfasts were hearty and delicious with plenty to choose from. We didn't dine at the hotel restaurant or bar, but they were upscale and well attended by others. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk from center city, which is the only real knock on it. It wasn't for us as we didn't mind the walk or the quieter setting. As long as you're willing to do some walking, this hotel is a great value.
