Barcelo Aran Blu

We really enjoyed our stay at Barcelo Aran Blu. The hotel was modern and cool in design but still comfortable and affordable. The didn't have wi-fi in the rooms so that was the only drawback I experienced but the staff was responsive, kind and had great suggestions and the overall hotel was quite nice.

Free shuttle to the airport .hotel has a very nice ocean view. Very nice place away from the city.

Nous avons passé 3 nuits dans cet hôtel. Les chambres sont très propres, le personnel très serviable. dommage pour nous le restaurant était fermé durant notre séjour. Le bémol, c'est qu'il y a très peu de restos à proximité, il faut prendre la voiture...ou le bus, dont l'arrêt est très proche de l'hôtel. Le petit déjeuner est copieux, il ne varie pas tous les jours mais le personnel répond aux demandes particulières. Il est vrai que les chambres sont assez mal insonorisées, mais c'est très largement supportable et reposant. Bref, un séjour très agréable!!

I generally don't get too excited about staying at hotels. As long as I have a bed, and a shower with some hot water, you have made my day. I aint no prima donna. Well, I was completely blown away by the amazing staff, spotless rooms, huge breakfast buffet, modern amenties, and beach front location. I had booked this hotel with some trepidation because it was out of season, and it's location was at the far end of Ostia. I feared that I would be ignored and underserved by minimal staff who were biding their time until the beach crowd arrived. No worries. I ate like a pig every morning (meats, cheese, cereal, yogurt, pastries, fruit, juices, breads, jams, coffee, etc.), watched great Serie A matches at night (forza Roma!), and found a spotless room with clean sheets and towels everytime I returned to my room. I can only assume that they thought that I was George Clooney traveling incognito, or something. And, lest I forget, the view from the hotel is fantastic. The harbor next door is filled with charming boats, and the beautiful Mediterranean stretches out in front of you across the horizon. I couldn't have been any happier with my experience at this wonderful hotel. One caveat: I had access to a personal driver during my stay, so I do not know about bus/taxi access to central Ostia. If you have to walk, you will want to have very comfortable shoes.

I stayed overnight between two flights at Fiumicino. The location is close to the airport, but not to the city. The hotel is on a street along the sea shore, at the edge of a residential neighborhood with high rises. There is a large marina nearby, with stores and restaurants. It seemed quiet but safe around 10-11 PM. The building is new and very modern. My room was not very large but comfortable, with solid, IKEA-style furniture. Bathroom was clean and everything worked fine. There was a large balcony, facing the large balconies of a residential building. I imagine the sea-front rooms must have a great view. Internet access: wired connection in the room and wireless in the lobby. It was free but you had to get access codes at the reception, for 1/2 - 2 hours at a time. Nice complimentary breakfast buffet. Pretty good shuttle service to the airport.

Rooms/Hotel were very nice, but service a bit hit and miss. Breakfast was a bit disorganised with the buffet table regularly running out of the basics like juice, glasses etc...

The Aran Blu Hotel in Lido Di Ostia was a great retreat following a trip through Italy. The location (close to the airport) made it the perfect way to close out our vaction. The rooms are spacious, very contemporary in design and well appointed. The area has many restaurants and shops and is lively late in the evening. The staff was friendly and helpful. One word of caution; a ten minute cab ride to the airport costs fifty euro, but well worth it for a stay in Otia.

This hotel is a nice modern-style hotel. It is located in a pretty spot next to the Marina, across from a small lagoon. There are a variety of restaurants along the Marina. I expected the hotel to provide shuttle service to the airport in Rome, but the shuttle only goes to the train station. There was no pool or workout facility that we could find. I don't know why I thought there would be one. Breakfast was nice and fast. Internet service works with your own computer. The room was comfortable. Not as convenient to the airport as I had originally thought, due to morning traffic. The staff was very helpful.

The furniture was stacked on top of each other, the tables and cushions were stored in a room that looked like it should be the kitchen. It seemed like the hotel just opened and they were trying to get things together but had not yet done so. The rooms were very modern with beautiful decore and window treatments and the view and balcony was nice. The bathroom was also ultra modern and they had an unbeleievable amenity bag full of shampoos, showers gels, etc. etc... While you can see alot of effort is being put into beautifying the area, the beach was dirty and there was trash strewn on the shore. The restaurants and shopping was great! Within walking distance, there was a boardwalk with 10-15 restaurants ranging in variety as well as shops where you could actually afford to buy things in Italy. I think the area is geared toward Italians on holiday and it will get there eventually. The amount of boats that were docked there and the money I can see invested wil no doubt bring the crowds once the true summer vacation begins. Just beware (which we didn't) that this is a summmer destination so if you go outside July and August, be prepared to be watching them get ready instead of being able to enjoy the final benefits.

The Aran Blu turned out to be a good choice. It is reasonably near the Rome airport, but does not provide a shuttle to the airport. Taxi to the airport cost 40 euros. It does provide a shuttle to the train station. Breakfast was OK but not great. There are a number of decent restaurants (and a McDonalds)within easy walking distance. Some have outdoor dining areas where you can pitch bread crumbs to fish swimming in the marina area. It is across the street from a long beach area which is popular with the Romans.
