Crowne Plaza AMSTERDAM - SCHIPHOL

My Daughter and I had a 24 hour layover in Amsterdam built in to our travel schedule and we wanted to visit Anne Frank's House in the city center plus be located close to the airport for an easy departure trans atlantic the next day. The Crown Plaza fit the bill for us. You have to go to hotel shuttle pick up area for a free ride to the hotel (there is a push button phone to call during off schedule times) There is a 7-8 Euro fee for the return trip. When we checked in there were no rooms left with two beds so they offered an upgrade to a two room suite. Very nice. Staff was helpful with directions to train station (within 10 minute walk) to travel down town. they also advised us of a shortened train schedule due to it being New Year's Eve. We were able to see all we wanted in the down town area and return to a comfortable clean room. I am not sure why but we did receive complimentary return airport shuttle tickets which just added to an already great hotel experience.

Fast check-in, nice room and walking distance to the center of Hoofddorp and the train station.

good location between airport and Amsterdam, but poor re any eating places near hotel. the hotel food was poor and very very expensive

I really enjoyed my stay here. I had a newly renovated room, which was superb. The location of the hotel was great because it was close to the airport, but also close to the train station which allowed easy access to downtown Amsterdamn. Great value.

I didn't have much time to book the hotel because I hadn't planned on staying in amsterdam but ended up there because of the volcano. I booked it because it had free shuttle - beware it is free from the airport to the hotel only. 7.50 euro to get back to the airport.

I booked this hotel based on the photos; however, when we arrived it was obvious that the pics were of another hotel and not this one. the first photo you see are of the actual outside of the hotel; however, when you click to see more photos it's a very different hotel you see set on a river with a boat taxi to take you up and down the river! this hotel was nice, clean, staff friendly, but it's not the hotel i booked!

Overall a good hotel but the shuttle service is not free from the hotel to the airport. It is only free from the airport to the hotel.

The hotel has a free shuttle to take you from Schipol to the hotel. It runs every 30 minutes. The return trip will cost you 7.50 Euros (about $10). I strongly suggest you use the train instead. For about $1 Euro, you can get between the hotel and the Airport. For about 4.5 Euros the train will take you into Amsterdam Central. The train station is to the left of the hotel (Hoopddorf station) and takes exactly 8 minutes to walk there. As for the hotel, it was clean, spacious and comfortable. The rooms are well appointed and, for the price I paid (via Orbitz) a real steal. This room was half the cost of the Renaissance in downtown Amsterdam. I know as I've stayed at both. For the money and creature comforts, I would stay at this Renaissance (Hoopddorf) over the one downtown.
