Linda Hotel Amsterdam

This hotel has got some shocking reviews on some websites. It's a 2** and that's how I'd rate it. Our room was small but OK and well serviced. It didn't have a table or internet connection - that's why it's 2**. The bathroom was fine. Reception was friendly and efficient. It's a converted large old house so some of the walls are thin and - being Amsterdam - some guests come back late and noisy. If that annoys you - go elsewhere. But accom in Amsterdam is expensive, and if you're on a tight budget our experience was that the really poor reviews are unrealistic, expecting 5* service for 2* money. And you get a great breakfast thrown in!

Solid 2 star hotel within walking distance of the Centre of town. Linen, bedding and bathroom were very good I would have rated higher on cleanliness but carpet a bit grubby. Complimentary bottle of wine in room was a a lovely touch. Front desk guy was polite and welcoming. I would use this hotel again.

Would be better if the room had a opening window or ventilation as it got a bit stuffy in the room, also the big spotlight shining directly into the room got a bit annoying during the night.

Will not stay at this hotel the next time. Reasons: - Too much noise from the street - Shared door between two rooms without any sound isolation - I could hear everything my neighbours were talking about. - Non-smoking rooms are declared but there was a smoke smell in the room and ash on the external window sill - Room is dusty - TV remote was VERY dirty Several positive points: - breakfast is included into room price - close to city center (20-25 mitues of walking from Central Station)

The good thing about this hotel is they do offer smoking rooms. But you must request it. We were on the second floor. The stairs are steep and winding just like all of Amsterdam. The front desk was always cheerful and helpful. It is in a great location. There is a day market right around the corner and a grocery store less than a block away. I would advise going to Albert Heijn (grocery store) to get drinks and snacks it's A LOT cheaper than the vending machines. It is located on the edge of everything. But the walk is not that long. If you get the chance try a kroket from the fried place around the corner. You'll love it!

[...] We were fortunate that we had a room on 1st floor. We had to climb a circular set of steep stairs to our room with all our baggage. I had to make 3 separate trips for our baggage because my wife could not help. We were not happy with this place.

Well I switched over from this shabby tiny hotel called De Gerstekorrel Hotel Amsterdam (sucked). This one was much better. The stairwells are ridiculously steep so this wouldn't be great for old people or people with really heavy bags (unless you request a bottom floor). The room was pretty large (huge relative to the other hotel). Its a few minute walk from the Heineken Experience and no more than 5-10 minutes to the center area. Maybe 15min walk to Central Station. The breakfast was pretty good. The street outside was pretty busy and sounded really loud in the morning but this hotel was awesome compared to the one I went to the night before.

Overall the Hotel Linda was a pleasant experience. On the day I checked out, they held my luggage until I came back in the afternoon and they didn't charge me anything. I offered to tip them and they refused. The hotel halls and reception area are old but the rooms have been refurbished and are very nice. The bed is comfortable. The breakfast was good. The location wasn't bad. The tram line stop is just down the street so it made the location convenient. The only problem was there was a festival (concert) going nearby one evening and I had to use ear plugs to get to sleep.

I really like this hotel. It was decently priced and had really nice quaint rooms. The rooms from the top floor have excellent views of the canals across the street. I had no issues with the staff. I wouldn't call it the heart of Amsterdam, it is more like 6 blocks from the heart, but it is within walking distance to everything.

Pretty great location. They had smoking rooms, which is hard to find anymore. Decent size room and price for Amsterdam and very comfortable beds. Fairly clean. The sheets and bed were very clean. We had a beautiful view of a canal, but the stairs are crazy (as they all are in Amsterdam).
