Basic but good
Modest but basic and clean. Very helpful staff. Pity no breakfast provided but good facilities within 100 metres. Only real downside was the echoey corridors due to the age and construction method of the building. Some noisy ex-pats did not help! However, to be expected located right next to the centre of the city.

Many excellent eateries. Try Trimar in Avenida de Libertad and Cafe Gelo near the National Theatre.

great location and staff (no english though). cute room though you can hear everything. i think that is standard for places like this though. you get what you pay for.

This hotel is in an excellent
This hotel is in an excellent location near all the bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is basic but is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room we had, had a slight musty smell but once aired for a while had disappeared. The room decor and furniture was quite dated but this was all reflected in the price and was far cheaper than anything else I saw in this location. If you don't mind somewhere in a great location that is clean and basic and you're on a tight budget then this is a good place to stay.

The hotel is on a noisy street.
The hotel is on a noisy street. People came to collect garbage at 3 am, just outside my window, and didn´t mind shouting there for twenty minutes. The second or third night I killed an enormous cockroach in the room. The bathroom had an unpleasant odor. The people working there were friendly, and the hotel is walking distance to everything, but the street it is on is a little dangerous. I would seriously not recommend anyone stay at this hotel.

Two years after the first stay
Two years after the first stay at the hotel the cleanliness has really gone down the hill. If one only looks for a very central place to stay it is ok, but do not expect any luxury

Great location, clean, safe.
This is a great hotel. The location is perfect. Walking distance from all kinds of restaurants, entertainment, market, etc. Clean and safe area. Tbe hotel is old but with character. The only problem I had was noise because the floors and walls are all wood and the sound echos from the other rooms. Earplugs at night solved the problem. A great value.

The barro algo is right up the hill. On a weekend it's like the French Quarter in New Orleans. Great for nightlife.

Clean, secure and well located.
Clean, secure and well located. Staff were always very helpful. Very basic accommodation but clean and tidy with good en-suite. If it's just a base in Lisbon you require at a great price then consider here.
