Abella Hotel Istanbul

- sehr sehr kleine Zimmer - laut (vorne) oder Hinterhof (hinten) - Bad mit Schimmel und ziemlich schmutzig - die "tägliche" Reinigung findet unzureichend statt - keine frischen Handtücher - Frühstück eine Zumutung, verschimmelter Käse - Kaffee ist Nescafe - gute zentrale Lage - nette Leute

Great location. Hotel is three blocks to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and Arasta Bazaar. The hotels staff was very kind and willing to provide information when needed. The hotel room had dirt on tables and floors. The bathroom shower was dirty as well.

Clean albeit small room provides basics. It's a great home base for the economical tourist. The location is excellent being in the heart of the old city but completely safe for visitors. Abella provides everything promised in ads,however, the room is small; it would be very tight for two. Staff had very little English, and the 15 inch TV offers only Turkish channel. There is only one computer available.

The Abella Hotel has a great location, no more than that. A room is very small, as the bathroom. No chair and cup in the room. The refrigerator isn`t working. The staff is nice, but the owner isn`t polite. He`s watching at how many you are eating at the breakfast.

Took the metro from Ataturk to Sultanhamet, dragged luggage about 10 min walk downhill on stone road. Place was close to Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and the little bar area. The hotel was average. Room was small, but fine. Internet was available in the lobby only. Staff was friendly. Don't expect much from the breakfast. The review said "hot" breakfast, but it was cold cuts, cheese, lots of breads, etc. (basically continental).

The room was basic but was clean and had everything you would need for a base from which to explore Historic Istanbul. Breakfast was continental style with bread and mixed cheeses and meats and was served on the roof top with fantastic views of the Blue Mosque and the Sea of Marmara. Easy walking distance to all the main sites. Room was ensuite with a shower and TV ( only english channels were the news). No Wi Fi but access to a computer in the lobby, resturant on site.

The Abella hotel is a very very basic hotel, unclean, without any of the amenities shown on the web presentation : no wireless internet, no laundry service, no spa/wellness, the breakfast is absolutely a joke - cold buffet, not serving even juice. Rooms are not sound insulated, so you can hear all the noises from the rooms around, on the fourth floor you can not sleep past 7 a.m. as all the noise from the breakfast terrace is loudly heard. The hotel is DEFINITELY not 3-4 star as described, it is more like a hostel kind of comfort - very very basic and run-down. The only positive thing is its location.

We took a tour of Istanbul, that included a cruise up the Bosphorus, and a visit to the Corea church. I also want to the Hagia Sofia, which was astonishing. The Grand Bazaar was wonderful. The Turkish people were very friendly, and if they didn't speak English, they tried to find someone to help you. We also went to Ankara and Konya.

Many of the sites were within walking distance as was shopping, public transportation and a great restaurant area! Although the hotel was non-smoking there were ashtrays in the rooms and people were allowed to smoke upstairs on the terrace. The smoke came in to the dining area and since our room was just below the smoke also came into our room at times. The view was incredible from the terrace/upstairs breakfast area. Would have liked internet access and the ability to print out boarding passes. One employee was a little pushy about tips but other than that it was a great hotel.
