I was in Tuscaloosa to look for an apartment and just needed a motel room for one night. The motel was average. It was clean and I felt safe. My only complaint is that with the interstate so close it was just a little noisy.

[...] This is an annual trip for us (family quality time) where we spend the week-end in Tuscaloosa (majority of the time on campus) enjoying all the A-Day Game festivities, food and fun. We started our trip down to Tuscaloosa from Muscle Shoals on Friday afternoon. All day Friday there had been bad storms & tornadoes throughout Alabama. It just so happened that one went through the area where we stayed. We arrived at the Laquinta Inn after 6pm and checked in. We noticed not much lighting when we arrived and found out the hotel actually on had partial power due to the storms. Our room (lucky us) had no power period. So we spent the entire rest of the evening with a room with no power. While I understand you cant control storms, I've always been told the customer comes first. The hotel staff did nothing but tell us they made phone calls for service. They did not offer temporary lighting (which should have happended). Nor did they offer anything period. During this particular event (A-Day in Tucaloosa at the University of Alabama). You cannot get a room anywhere close to the stadium. So, therefore there was no need to look for anohter room (Knew you were going to ask), so we stayed in the room obviously (sleeping anyway) that night and went the next morning and enjoyed the A-Day festivities on campus. When we returned we had power. However, the disaapointment was as follows.1. The staff did nothing to make our stay more relaxed due to the circumstances.2. Provided no updates the entire night, you had to go ask.3. Offered nothing during this time.[...]

This was a straightforward and pleasant place to stay. The room was on the large side and clean and the air conditioning worked great (July). The breakfast was way above average. Didn't try the outdoor pool or the fitness center. The hotel is right across the street from the mall and 5 - 10 minute drive to Univ. of Alabama campus which I visited often. Eating places all around.

Our experience was fantastic from the start. We arrived very early in the day and were able to check in and get settled right away. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. Legends provided a selection of good food at a reasonable price. We will definitely stay at Hotel Capstone when visiting the University of Alabama.

I went to visit my son and his wife in Tuscaloosa and stayed at the Ambassador Suites for the weekend. The check-in/check-out was easy and quick. The room was nice and clean but had a slight musty smell. The continental breakfast was o.k. but I really enjoyed the quietness of the hotel and the central location. I would have liked a pool and fitness center but found the hotel to be a good value for the price.

This is a great place for fans and friends of the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. I went up to visit our son at UA and drive him home. I had a great night's sleep and a very good breakfast. I plan on bringing my wife next time.

Our experience was for the most part good, we didn't feel comfortable in the shower due to mildew in the cracks of the tile. Other than that the stay was nice, and location was excellent for dinner, and other necessities. Overall it was not bad for staying one night while traveling through town, I would stay here again.

I was in town for a wedding and thinking I could get a hotel on my own would be easy since there was no football that weekend wasn't true. Luckily ORBITZ had a room at this hotel which was an average hotel but wasn't sure how it would be. Hotel was nice...not a 5 star but your average hotel so I would stay there again.

My room was at the far end of the hotel but faced front and was next to the exit. I parked in front of my window. I was very pleased to see they'd remodeled with new furniture and included the bathroom. The furniture still smelled new.
What might pose a problem for an out-of-towner is the location is next to the highway entrance. You have to go to the turning lane (to make a u-turn) for the east-bound entrance to go to Walmart and the mall the hotel is next to.
I inspect all the drawers, cabinets and under the beds when I get to a room and this one had a soda cap and hotel-issued hanger under the bed when I arrived Sunday at 4:30pm. I was there when I left Wednesday morning at 10:00am.
If you book through a website other than Super 8/Wyndam you won't receive travel credit and they will not issue a zero-balance bill at the end of your stay. I plan to contact Wyndam to ask about the billing policy since I will need it for taxes.
Overall, I would stay again, if I booked through Super 8/Wyndam to get the travel points.

This hotel looks to be run down with very little maintenance or up-keep. The floors in the bathroom were roughly patched and parts of the bathroom walls had holes. Everything was extremely outdated. The bathroom sink would not drain and the bathroom floor seemed always to be wet. The continental breakfast was laughable.

Had consruction workers living there and standing outside eyeballing every move you made. Made you nervous about comming and going into your room. Bathroom was dirty. Used towel to wipe off toilet seat and it was dirty with urine. Need better lighting in rooms. Only 2 lamps with very dim lights. Bed was clean and comfortable. Nice to have fridge and microwave in room

Our family stayed there during graduation. The staff was friendly and rooms were clean. I don't like that they increased prices during graduation but from what I heard their prices did not increase as much as other hotels. I would stay there again, especially for the normal rate.

Smooth check-in. Musty smell in room. Front desk offered Febreeze, which solved the problem. Genrally clean. No "health food" for breakfast, but nice waffles. Actually, they had apples and oranges and Raisin Bran, but no honey, granola, yogurt. They also had biscuits and gravy. Reasonable value.

The Quality Inn was a well-maintained facility, with helpful staff. The breakfast provided was adequate. The pool was located in the parking lot, which was very unusual, and was very small. The hotel was difficult to find from the highway. However, its location was close to the University of Alabama campus, which was our main objective. There was shopping within walking distance of the hotel. I would stay there again, given the value for the money.

This had to be the worse hotel ever, I am 55 and have stayed everywhere, never again here! It was very dirty, the room smelled, the closet door was off the rail and couldn't be fixed, there was burn holes in the bed spread and this was a no smoking room,carpet was so dirty that my white socks will not wash back to white,we had 1 wash cloth in the room for 3 people,there was 1 ice machine, on the 3rd. floor and we were on the 1st., there was holes on both sides of the bathroom door,for breakfast, there was cereal but no milk. I brought all of this to the attention of the manager (SAM) and was told he couldn't help us at all, it was graduation weekend at U of A, they were full and to top it all off, we were charged 48% more than the reg. price of the room because they knew that there was no other rooms available anywhere. (FROM $90 per night to $130)

IF you're just looking for a one-night stay with a decent and clean room, this is your place. There is nothing special about the hotel, but it is easy to get to and the staff was extra friendly. Rooms are not overly large, but work well for the price.

I was a little disappointed. To start, we had to request a second room the first night. The windows were broken with shattered class and the room smelled moldy. Several other rooms had broken windows. Not sure if this was a result of the tornado (April 27th) or not. The room was next to the stairwell and exit door. When asked if the side exit doors are lockd at night (after a set time) for safety, I was told they never lock the doors. The second room was better, however it was missing a refrigerator that was advertised. The clerk was nice. She personally carried the refrigerator to the room. Once settled in, the stay was ok. You get what you pay for. Nothing exiting or extra. The continental breakfast was ok.

I had to fly to Alabama to meet my daughter at her college and get her packed up for summer vacation. I booked it at the last minute unaware that graduation was the same weekend. Honestly I took the room because it was all that was available and basically I got what I paid for......cheap. The A/C was so loud I had to turn it off at night to sleep and then not only did the room get hot but the A/C from the room next to mine was a just as loud. The fridge was loud too. The TV needs updating and the bathroom wasn't clean. I ended up checking out after the first night and slept on the very small couch at my daughter's dorm! But the staff was pleasant and helpful and it was near enough to campus.
