We used this hotel for sleepover to continue travel in the morning. Easy access. Staff very nice, we had late arrival. We reserved a smoking double room, however due to the late arrival and my crutches the staff wanted to give us nice no smoking king room up front. Well we really needed a smoking room and took the room in the back. Some night traffic and noise and the room was not in the best condition. Appreciate the effort of the staff to give us the best available room - but we chose based on our needs.

Not so great. Hallways are not clean. Mattresses were not great. Room was clean and bathroom was nice, but the walls are thin, and my husband and I got stuck between rooms given to families with small children. Free breakfast was a nice touch--but pretty ordinary fare. The best thing is that this is just next door to Buck Owens' Crystal Palace--which has fabulous dinners and great live entertainment.

My sister and I had to attend a Mary Kay Cosmetics conference. We were pleasantly surprised with the Best Western Plus Hill House. The rooms were more than we expected for the price and loved the fact staff had given us plenty of towels. Also this location is within walking distance to the Mexicali Mexican Restaurant which was excellent. It is right across the street from the Rabobank Convention Center very convenient. Also very quiet so we had a good nights sleep before our early morning convention.

The staff was always very helpful. The included breakfast was more than continental with a choice of waffles, eggs, sausage, muffins, donuts, hot and cold cereal, coffee, and juice. Close to Amtrak, Library, government buildings, downtown.

My room was spacious, clean and quiet with a comfortable bed, cable tv, and organic bath products. Amenities also included a swimming pool, continental breakfast, and in-room mini-fridge and safe. The hotel staff were super friendly and very helpful to this first time visitor. The location was within walking distance to downtown, close to the Civic Center, and around the corner from Dewar's Ice Cream Shop. If you're looking for a great get away on the cheap, this is the place to stay.

My stay at this hotel was very nice. Most hotel staff was friendly and helpful (not everyone, unfortunately--that's why I deducted one star) and its coffee shop was open early and late. (That's why there was no coffee maker in the room?) The room was very new and clean with a cool twist.
It is located in the heart of downtown Bakersfield, so you can walk to downtown businesses.

The hotel was well kept and had a very comfortable bed. The heating/air con unit worked well and was quiet. The manager was kind enough to move his car so we could park in front where it could be seen from the reception desk as we had bikes on the car.
Breakfast is not included but there is a little restaurant attached to the hotel where you can purchase sandwiches, latte etc.

Engineering work/operations training school near Taft. Air travel into Bakersfield was a disaster [...]. An exquisite shower followed by a perfect landing on the pillow top bed smoothed some of the irritation. I'll stay here the next time I'm in town, and hope the air trip is better.

It has an inside pool, which is nice when weather outside is not warm or raining. Rooms are spacious and clean. We've got a small fridge on the request, which is nice. Small but cozy restaurant, which has a TV on the wall at each booth. They also provide you with fresh newspaper every morning.

I have been traveling to Bakersfield for business recently, and testing out the different hotel/motel options. I don't really like staying downtown after I found the Lassens, and the businesses on the west side of town. I liked the layout of the property, plenty of parking (I don't stay at the Padre because of the valet requirement--I want to be able to go to my car w/out talking to the valet). I will probably stay there again.

The staff were friendly and efficient. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. There were no refrigerators in the rooms (a feature we like) and no free breakfast. The restaurant was a bit expensive, so we didn't try it. We were there for a funeral, so it wasn't the best of trips all around.

I stayed here for one night with two HS seniors (during a tour of colleges throughout the State). The staff was friendly and they made sure I got a quiet room.. Of all the hotels we visited during the week, this one had the most comfortable beds. The pillows were even marked "firm" and "soft" just in case we couldn't tell the difference (!). I wish I could have strapped that mattress to the top of my car and brought it home.
The hotel was well maintained and the room was spacious and attractive. It included a mini frig, microwave, desk, and table/chairs. The girls tried the workout room but came back after 10 minutes because it was so hot in that room (not sure why it wasn't air conditioned). The breakfast was OK overall (scrambled eggs, sausage patties, waffles, plus all the standard items) but there was no fruit and they ran out of yogurt (which would have been our preference).
I will stay here again if I ever have reason to return to Bakersfield.

The hotel was in a good location but wish the hotel had more to offer inside hotel. I wanted to rent a movie but wasn't working yet even though it was advertised. The complimentary breakfast was limited but staff was helpful and friendly.

Room was very spacious and clean. They had a wonderful pool and spa. The kids enjoyed the tennis basketball court. They had nice green areas for your dog to be walked. To top the trip off the free hot breakfast the best we've ever had. We will be staying here again.

I had a very good experience during my stay. The room was clean, the hotel clerk was very professional and pleasant and checking in was made easy. I would recommend this motel to anyone looking for a nice, clean place to spend the night.
The only thing that did not work out was the whirlpool. The motor burn out that night and that was unfortunate but will not deter me from staying there in the future.

I was very disappointed upon check-in to be told there were no rooms with two double beds available. Because I was traveling with a family member, I specifically chose this hotel with the guarantee on reservation: "1 room, 2 Double beds, mini-fridge, 364sqft 33sqm, living sitting area....etc." There were other choices in accommodations with 2 double beds, however I chose this hotel that appeared to be a good price and location.
The check-in clerk did offer an upgraded suite after much discussion. One of us had to sleep on a pull-out sofa sleeper... not ideal. Pool was very noisy with lots of children until closing @ 11PM, after that hotel was quiet and restful.
A free continental breakfast was NOT available; this doesn't meet expectations of a hotel of this caliber. The $10 breakfast offered didn't look appealing.

for the most part uneventual, desk staff was good. We stayed 4 nights. The 3rd day coffee pot not cleaned, no hand towels and bed not made. We didn't need fresh sheets each day, but, we like the sheets pulled tight and the bed made.
The hotel was close to the freeway, but, not right on it so that we experienced a good nights sleep
With that being said we would stay there again.

This older motel has gotten some nice upgrades in the rooms. Furnishings in the small rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. Good continental breakfast. Pool is older and could use some work, seemed over chlorinated, but made for a nice cool-down after the long drive. Desk staff were very nice. This was fine for an overnite stay on the way north and very reasonable. Well kept little garden with nice tables and chairs in the shady courtyard were a plus.

This hotel is in a good area (lots of restaurants and convenient places). It's better than the extended stay half a mile away. However, they're getting pretty skimpy on some services. They say breakfast (of sorts) is included. That means a bowl of fruit in a wicker basket, and some prewrapped mini muffins and pre-wrapped bagels. That's it. The gym is a joke. They leave after 11pm and have sort of a night guard check you in. The elevator was intensely slow. The tv itself was from 1999 and very limited cable selection. The room was clean but they don't clean it or replace linens unless you stay at least 7 days. Overall, with a few relatively minor changes, they could easily be a 3 star hotel, but they're cheap*sses. It's not horrible, just basic.

I was bumped from that hotel because it was sold out and sent to their sister hotel, EXTENDED STAY AMERICA that was far inferior. I spent both days their and was unhappy with the conditions of the hotel. The manager, though, was very helpful and considerate of my displeasure with the surroundings and said that they would not charge me for the two days that I spent there, because of the circumstances. They said that they would talk with you ([...]) and let you know that there was no charge.

The hotel was within walking distance to our destination on Ming Ave., and is right near the shopping mall which is convenient. Unfortunately we did have to switch rooms due to a leak in the bathroom. But, overall it was a nice stay and was comfortable.

I had lots of problems opening the door various times. Then it wouldn't lock from the inside. Some of the bath towels had holes. I couldn't find the ice machine. The room was nice and cold, but the hallways were hot. Temp outside during the day was in the high 90´s. Staff friendly. it was just ok for the price.

I stayed here last week and the staff was extremely friendly and sweet! I was introduced to the new owners/managers and they were very nice. They were telling me the place is gonna go thru a major renovation soon and I can't wait to go back and stay. My room was HUGE, clean, smelled fresh, beds are comfortable, FREE HBO & WIFI! Gonna be staying here next time I come down to Bakersfield!

The pictures were TOTALLY MIS-LEADING!!!! The place was in total dis-repair. My parents were in the adjoining room and it looked like someone had kicked the door in. There was no safety lock in either of our rooms. [...] asked to photo copy our ID, which we've never had to due anywhere. If we'd known this place was that bad, we never would have stayed there. The only reason we did was it was late, we'd had a long car ride, and were leaving early the next morning. My parents are elderly and were tired. They got up 1 1/2 hrs early the next morning because they were creeped out by the conditions, especially the cockroaches!!! It's never a good sign when you have to check out the TV remote for your room!We've used other websites and have never had such a bad experience. They obviously do a better job of screening accomodations.

upon awakening the next morning I heard a dripping sound coming from the jacuzzi. I got up and expected to have to turn the valve closed tighter to stop the drip. i bent down to reach for the faucet and was hit on the top of my head with drops of water falling from the ceiilng... presumably from the Jacuzzi directly above me... Meaning that their nasty waste water from the persons shower above me had just dripped all over my head... nasty
Honestly for the money ... you cant beat the rooms there.. I'd stay again... only because you get a lot of room for your money

our stay at day inn was nice mostly. our check in was quick, and [...]we were given a room to our satisfaction. the young lady behind the counter arecely was very sweet and helpful.the rooms are large and neat, although the floors could use a better cleaning, and plug ins were difficult. one of our beds was needing replaced, as it was very worn, but the other was fine. they had wireless internet which was very easy to access. the breakfast offered wasnt very large, but it was nice to have something offered. overall it was good stay for what we payed for. we will return

I was pleasantly surprised at the convenient location, especially as it relates to nearby restaurants. Although it was just a one-night stay, the room had everything I needed and it was quiet after 11 p.m. The employees were friendly and interested in helping.
