You get what you pay for!
It is what you pay for. The location in general is very good for getting around to everything, we were able to get to every comunity very easily and only 15 minutes from the airport. the community however is a bit schetchy at night. Don't leave anything visable in your car! It apears that people use the parking lot during the day like a park and ride for transit since parking in the city is EXTREMELY hard to find.

Look at getting a tranist pass (by the day, 3 days or 7 days) unlimited use for buses, trains, Barts and cable cars. the one day is only $14 for an adult where as the cable car is $6 per adult one way. Parking is on average $3 per hour. (if you can find a spot) and the meters along the street is $2 per hour )even harder to find)

Good Value for the money
The Rodeway Inn is not trying to be a pretencious experience. The location is South of Market so very walkable to BART, Muni and F Tram to take you to many sites. The room was basic but clean and had a microwave, coffee maker and small fridge ( all new ). The heat/AC were fine as were water temps. The money saved helps pay for all your tourist attracttions. The hotel area is not scenic and there are homeless but security is good. The hotel staff was very accomodating and very nice. They had no problems with me leaving my car for some hours after checkout. The interstate entrance is a minute from the hotel. This is more of a hotel for adventurous singles or Adult couples.

Up a couple blocks, then turn right on Market, down several blocks is Grant Avenue, turn left to the entrance Gate to the best shops and restaurants in Chinatown. Excellant deals and a fun combo of High end and bargain shops.

Stayed after the Giants game
This hotel is very clean and respectable for the price. Hotel is 1.9 miles from AT&T Park. We walked it both ways. Not the best part of town but we felt relatively safe. Ample free parking but get there early (we got there @ 2pm). Would definitely stay there again.

Eat at SBC Pizza, 1/2 blk from AT&T Park. BEST calazone my husband and I have ever eaten!

It was not worthstaying for the price we paid for the room and comfort level we got. . No good breakfast avilable, not even tea/coffee facilities, elevaotr was too small and no luggage trolly avilable. Area was very bad, and not good location. Needs to improve a lot. We were not that much satisfied as it did not meet our expextation for the price we paid.

Okay for the money.
My friend and I were in town for 2 Giants games. The area around the hotel is a bit shady, but no big deal for adult males. Union Square and Bart and Bus are all within walking distance. The room was clean, but noise was a problem in the morning. For the price tag of $120 for a room with two queen beds you aren't going to find any better unless you spend $180 +. So for the price it was fine.

If you are with a significant other or with kids, I would recommend spending more money for a hotel in a better area. I didn't feel unsafe but I would not feel comfortable with children in the area.

excellent location!
friendly staff. convenient location within walking distance to BART and union square. it may appear to be in a bad area but don't let that fool you. we even stayed an extra night! perfect for travelers on a budget!

Well it was easy to find and in a good location, everything was fairly close plus found some new spots. But it was kinda noisy, being in downtown and just the people wandering in and out of theyre rooms even in the middle of the night. But the room was clean and the people were friendly. The area wasnt bad at all. Had a good visit overall.

The houses that were shot for the 80's tv show "Full House" arent too far away, theyre in Alamo Square a few blocks away. That was awesome, i cant believe i bumped into that driving back to the room.....

Nice Motel
When checking into the motel, the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a lot bigger than I expected and was first-rate, couldn't have gotten any better.
