Golden Host Resort

Wir verbrachten eine Nacht in Sarasota in diesem Hotel entlang der Hauptreiseroute. Gut erreichbar, freundliches Personal. Saubere jedoch relativ knapp bemessene Zimmer. Angenehme Umgebung, mit dem Auto alles in guter Reichweite. Weiter zu empfehlen, jedoch nicht ganz günstig für die Hotelkategorie!

Ein wenig mauliges Personal, ein wenig eingestaubt aber der Inhaber des Hotels hat sich im Rahmen seiner Möglichkeiten um Alternativen bemüht. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war für die Spring Break Season ganz ok. Wer auf's Geld schaut kann hier unter kommen. Wer nicht, sollte 10-20Euro pro Nacht mehr in die Hand nehmen.

Golden Host Resort on Sarasota is, for me, a very friendly reminder of what the old resort type hotels in Florida were like when I was a child. There is a very nice, large pool, two(!) shuffleboard courts with the equipment still in tact, a picnic area with an outdoor grill, tropical gardens, rooms that open directly onto this "tropical paradise," a second story outdoor lounge for sun bathing, a separate "tiki lounge," and even a connected restaurant, although this has been closed for a long time. In other words, the place is old, 1950s at the latest, but has a charm of its own if you do not mind the old plumbing, ac units, and '50s decor.

hotel was a bit dirty, continental breakfast was wasn't worthy. will never recommend to anybody.

The hotel reminded me of the "Bates Hotel" from the movie "Psycho." It was desolate and somewhat creepy. I realize August is the off-season in Sarasota, FL but the hotel should show signs of life. It is badly in need of resuscitation.

It was actually okay. Wasn't expecting much from the price and the pics are a tad misleading as others have stated. It's pretty old and right on the outer edge of what could be a bad area, but actually for the price it couldn't be beat. Super 8 a couple of doors down was asking $79 a night and looked ten times worse. It was relatively quiet, basically safe, and just your basic room. Not much on the breakfast - toast and a couple of doughnuts and coffee, completely gone if you don't get there early. Same thing with the ice machine, get to it early. Pool area is okay. Agree with fellow travelers, beds are hard as rocks. Good location for getting to and from downtown/bayfront area. Staff extremely nice and helpful. We decided to stay in Sarasota a second night and they gave us a good deal[...]. Bahi Hut next door had good drinks and a lot of fun people it seemed, pretty small though. We wouldn't mind staying again, would rather spend the $ on other things than waterfront accomodations, especially since it's so close to everything.

At first I was expecting low quality considering the price but I was amazed! The rooms were very clean, the pool was beautiful and the staff was very helpful. There tiki lounge was at the utmost quality with great prices, a wonderful atmosphere I would recomend this hotel to anyone!
