The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas

Westin was fabulous! We even visited the St Regis for a few hours via the shuttle bus and whatever you get for paying LOTS more money to stay at the St Regis was not obvious to me. We are not big beach goers anyway so the Westin with the option to use St Regis beach was good enough. We love the bit more relaxed and slower pace feel which you get more in north Kauai vs south Kauai in my opinion and the Westin delivered. We even sat next to a couple on the plane ride home that was at the same resort and even in the same building and we didn't see them once. Its really nice when the busy resorts still have a "small" feel to them. We had free breakfast everyday and it was totally satisfying, even gluten free options of oatmeal and fruit. The Nanea also had decent GF options. Nanea gave me the best steak I have ever had in my life, twice! You MUST get the beef tenderloin. Ridiculously delicious and tender! Its also really hard to beat $5 mai tais at happy hour. Be sure to explore for food, even though Nanea is pretty darn good. Just a really great, relaxing vacation. Plenty of good food and drinks on site, great town of Hanalei really close, good pool(s), friendly staff, and even the small-ish studio villa was good enough for us. And no, the chickens are not that bad. Note: site said free parking, but it was $13 a day, no biggie to me for being in paradise. Plus you can make that up by going green and declining house keeping daily to receive a $10 coupon each time. Also, if you have kids, be sure to take advantage of the daily fish feedings, usually about 9:30am.

The Westin Princeville is a lovely resort. Every amenity is available, the oceanside location is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We're really not resort people who join in the activities -- we spent our days exploring all over Kauai but we loved coming back to our beautiful studio room in the evening and having breakfast on our lanai in the mornings. The condo kitchen has everything you need including bbq tools for the ocean view bbq's, cloth napkins and even a potato peeler! We made good use of the kitchen because the hotel restaurant was very busy and pricey. The hotel market is pricey, too, but there is a fully stocked grocery store just at the entrance to the resort. We'd love to return to the Westin Princeville!

The hotel, location and amenities were fantastic. There were two issues though. One is the completely ridiculous lack of parking near the room. When I'm paying $13/day as a resort parking fee on top of a room parking way across the lot and a long walk from the room just isn't ok. The other issue we had was with the Westin's green policy, where they give you a $10 resort credit if you don't use the house keeping service. At check in apparently this wasn't explained anywhere near fully and it six phone calls to still not resolve the misunderstanding, with us just giving up and letting it slide. Other than that the hotel was excellent.

This resort is gorgeous right from the entrance. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms were very very clean. The pool is spectacular and there are other pools and hot tubs away from the main pool if you are looking for a quiet atmosphere. The restaurant and pool bar don't have the best food on the island and it is a little pricy as is the food in the resort market. The bar closes down really early so if your looking for an evening drink you'll have to go elsewhere. The WiFi was awful. Very low signal and only worked half the time. Even the Internet in the business center was slow and cost $5.95 for 15minutes. The place was really nice but if you are doing a lot of activities you may want to stay closer like in Kapaa otherwise it is a 40min to two hour drive to do boat tours, kayaking, some zip lining, and plane tours. However, Princeville has a nice little market where you can grocery shop, get good food, and do a little shopping and Hanalei is only 8 minutes north with great food, beautiful beaches and some kayaking and surfing activities.

Enjoying the northshore of Kauai during December was an awesome experience and having the Westin Princeville as our homebase for 3 nights and 4 days was incredible. The hotel has plenty of aminities to keep you satisfied. We especially enjoyed the pools, and the marketplace (where we were able to buy anything from morning coffees to dinner items). Our room overlooked a golf course which was fantastic enough, but we could also see the ocean easily which just added to the neat setting. The hotel staff was friendly and attentive. I would recommend this hotel every time.

The hotel was very accommodating to our family and had plenty of things for the little ones to do. The kid pool was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Westin Princeville is a little overpriced. It was nice to have a washer/dryer in our room and a full kitchen was nice too. The bed was very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful but this property is no where near an accessible beach. We drove most days to Hanalei Beach. We were on a breakfast package with the hotels market and tired of the food pretty quickly. It wasn't very good and the fruit selection was poor( not fresh and in season). The main pool was the only heated pool while the other two pools were very cold. The drinks at the bar were something I would expect at a cheap bar, not the westin. I would say stay somewhere else preferable in Hanalei if you can and somewhere cheaper if your going to be in Princeville. Also take a pass on December travel in Kauai, its pretty rainy and a bit on a the cold side for the beach.

We have an 8 month old baby, and this was our first family vacation. Our baby's grandparents joined us, and we reserved two one-bedroom villas. The one-bedroom villas are perfect for cooking and eating family meals all week long - just a quick stop at the grocery store at the beginning of the week and we were set. They have nice grills on the property that we'd use to cook each night as well. We were very impressed with the resort's amenities for babies, as they put a nice crib, diaper genie, bottle warmer, and highchair in our room. The resort is laid back and not stuffy or too fancy where we'd feel out of place with a small baby like we may feel at the St. Regis. However the St. Regis is a sister property, and we were able to utilize their beach area and it's a great place to go to watch the sunset. At the Westin we had a ground floor unit and we LOVED the view. Instead of having a balcony with railings we could sit on our porch and look at the beautiful plants. Overall it was a great stay! The weather was not as sunny as the south side of the island, but it was really relaxed and a great place to be up north.
