good hotel, nice staff, rooms all clean, shuttle service...would stay there again anytime

Very friendly staff clean hotel and great breakfast. Good Location near the Cultural center.

outside looked ok, inside a different story. Holes in the walls, the entire place looked like it had not been painted for at least ten years. Furniture chipped and broken. drawers meant to fit in some other dresser. Drapes hanging half off the window. The only good thing was the bathroom seemed clean.

Was listed on the net as a smoking room but there are no smoking rooms in Michigan since May 2010.[...] The only reason we picked this particular hotel was because it was listed as a smoking room. There were other much nicer hotels available had we known that all Michigan hotels are no-smoking. [...]

Although the staff was cordial, it couldn't make up for the room. Smelled like an old smokey bar, holes and stains on spread, sink spigots were so loose I hesitated to turn them on. Carpet seriously wore and only had pad under part of it! If my wife or children were with me I wouldn't stay there.

Clean place with many options within walking distance.

The room was extremely small and the bed was supposed to be a queen but seemed to be a full sized bed. Me and the wife sleep on a queen and this was not the size of our bed. The room smelled like stale cigarettes. The front desk was rude.. After a 20 hour drive from Florida we had a cooler of bottled water that needed ice.. We were on the first floor and the ice machine said "out of order go to the second floor", so i walked up the stairs to second floor and the sign on that machine said "out of order get ice at front desk", well i had to walk back down stairs to the front desk and she said well i will fill your room bucket but i can't give you ice for your cooler. What hotel doesn't have a working ice machine? We went to visit friends and visit some local bars, when we returned and tried to get into the hotel at 3:30am the door was jammed and the electronic key would flash green but the door would not open. We spend 45 min trying to get into the hotel and was very frustrated.. I will never stay at that hotel again....

Looks ok on the outside and the inside but needs work. Phone didn"t work in one room. Bathroom door didn"t work in another. Didn't seem to have a non smoking room even when requested 2 months before. It was quiet. I slept well. It was warm. Staff tried to be accomadating.

Room was clean, but small it even had a frig. The front desk associate was friendly and very helpful with good knowledge of the area.

Check-in was quick and easy. Good access to airport. No frills but good price.

My husband and I stayed there after spending the day at Huckleberry railroad. We have stayed in Comfort Inn's before and always enjoyed it. I can not say the same for this one. Upon entering the hallway smelled of B.O., when we got to our room it was a non-smoking when we asked for smoking, the room was dingy and dark looking. Then we decided to go check out te pool. As soon as we walked in you noticed how dirty it was. There were no towls, hot tub had a light brown ring of dirt as well as the pool, not to mention there was several globs of black hair floating on top. Kids were running up and down the hall screaming, not to mention a lady cussing loudly at her boyfriend was what we had to listen to. The only thing we liked was it as convienant to get on the freeway, and there was several resturaunts to choose from outside the hotel.

Was there just for the night--Did not spend much time but the room was perfect for a quick overnight stay. Clean and comfy.

Hotel was fine for a one night stay. The bathroom wall was falling apart and the shower stayed plugged. Could use alittle maintainance.

Highly recommended. Service was excellant. Near to resturents, grocerry, free parking and free internet with printer.

We have stayed at this motel on our visits several times with mixed reviews. In general, it has been a fine place to stay. We have stays from 3 nights to 5 and there have been issues. Our first stay was interrupted on a Friday night by all the partying at the pool. However, since that time, there has been a change in management and weekend party time is more limited so there isn't nearly the noise. We've had issues with items not being available for the "breakfast"-now, come on, what motel runs out of milk? The on-desk manager at the time did not have the KEYS to get into the supply area to replenish it. Odd, don't you think? There have been times when it seemed even management did not know how to handle simple requests BUT they tried. We have stayed at much more expensive hotels and had less accommodating staff. Our room was very comfortable, the beds were about right for the hubs-a bit too firm for me. Plenty of pillows and room darkening drapes that actually worked. Right next door to Cracker Barrel, across the street from Meijers, plenty of small eateries around. The pool was very clean when we used it, the room is kept quite warm considering Michigan winters. The hot tub could have used some work but was still ok. This motel is now listed as 100% non-smoking, a plus for us as we don't smoke and I have lung issues. Keep in mind, the area around the motel does not look the nicest-but it's very suitable for travel. Mainly businesses and some restaurants. About 30 minutes (depending on who's driving) to Frankenmuth and Birch Run for shops and more.

The general area was good, plenty of places to eat and gas station near by and it is close to freeway.

Orbitz told us we could check in at 2pm - rude staff stated 3pm! Wouldn't even let us in a room to change for the wedding we were attending. Complained at check in with anotehr staff member - told me she would give me a discount - it was only $ .95 different than Orbitz's price. Wouldn't stay there again. Clean rooms though - staff unfriendly.

The staff at the Holiday Gateway was welcoming and most accomodating. My room was clean and well equipped. The hot breakfast bufftet was wonderful and room service was most time efficient. Actually everything was pretty great other than the mattress, it was so uncomfortable that I had to sleep (or tried to sleep) on the sofa. The air conditioner was very noisy when it was running so it made watching tv rather frustrating. I hope Holiday Inn will re-think their limited cable stations as it would be nice to have more than just a few stations to choose from.

I was there to relax, but I brought along some work. I am an instructor and was able to grade papers, input grades on the internet. I wish that there was somewhere close to the hotel to walk and get grocery's but i still enjoyed the hotel. The hot breakfast was magnificent!!! Loved making waffles! This was my second stay at this same hotel and the staff was still great! Thanks Residence Inn

This is a great hotel - the cleanest I've seen in a while. We had a suite with a kitchen, sitting area and large king size bed. The room was very comfortable. The free breakfast was a nice bonus.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. They were busy the weekend we were there and they were also in the middle of a rather large remodel and it was peace and quiet all weekend. The room was very clean and comfortable and we will return. It was located right of the Hiway and 20 minutes from Birch Run Outlet Mall and 30 minutes from Frankenmuth. We will return to this hotel.

The hotel was easy to find, check in was simple [...]. Once we were in the room the front desk called to ask if we had everything we needed.It was super quiet.The negatives were the fold out couch sat so low it was difficult to get up and the shower didn't have a mat and the bottom was slippery. Next time I stay there I will request a handicap room.
