Was very pleased with my stay at the Amway. We stayed in the older tower, however everything was updated and in great condition. The hotel had a wide variety of food/bar options if you chose to stay in the hotel, but the location being right downtown made going out a breeze.
My only negatives, (which are minor) would be the pillows in the room being to puffy, and the vending machine on my floor was not stocked for the duration of my stay. So I would have to go to another floor to get a drink.
I would 100% stay here again.

we arrived in mid afternoon with the intent of just seeing downtown grand rapids and we were not let down. the hotel is right in the center of this very walkable city on the river. the views from the room were awesome. the room was very fancy and clean. the bathrooms were to die for. downtown was great. we ate within a block of the hotel at "the BOB" and it was very good, lively and relaxed.
after dinner we went back to the room and found out the prices for liquor in the minibar were way too high but on the walk back from dinner we saw there was a liquor store right across the street from the hotel. that was a much better option.
drinks in the room, beautiful night time views of the downtown, great beds and linens....
no coffee in the lobby in the morning - had to buy from their starbucks store was my only complaint ( i don't like starbucks)

I have stayed at this hotel before, that is why I chose to stay again. It is beautiful, clean, modern, comfortable, and a good value. But check in didn't go so well...Upon checking in, they had my reservation, but gave me a King Room. On my Orbitz form it clearly stated that I had 4 guests. The clerk told me that it doesn't matter, because it wasn't specified that I wanted a room with 2 Queen beds! So apparently 4 adults are supposed to sleep in a King bed! I was furious, because she stared at me blankly and said there wasn't anything she could do!! After asking to speak to manager, magically there was a room available that just needed to be cleaned. After asking what she could do for us for our trouble, she took care of our parking bill. I'm uncomfortable about the way the Orbitz reservation was treated as if it were a less priority than if I had booked directly with them. Makes me uncertain about doing it in the future...or I guess I will call ahead and make sure they have it right before I plan on it!

Flew into Grand Rapids for a business trip, I had stayed in that building before when it was a Hilton a few years ago so I wanted to try it out again. I did not eat anything at the hotel so I cannot comment on that. Free wifi was great. TV was a flatscreen hdtv with inputs on the back so that was good for netflix on the phone at night. Standard definition channels on the HDTV didn't make it look great. Small bathroom in my room, toilet and bath/shower with the sink separated into the room. The room did have a slight funk with the ac/heater on.
Something to note is that there isn't a shuttle from the airport. It was $32 dollars plus tip to get to the hotel.

Right in the middle of everything, easy reasonable parking ($14 NIGHT), close to all the colleges in the downtown area. Rooms small but clean. Added bonus it's walking distance (5 BLOCKS) to Founders Brewery, and the beer is FABULOUS! Overpriced at $200 a night, no complimentary breakfast. I could get a room cheaper in downtown Chicago.

Even thought this hotel was just an overnight stay, it was very friendly and very clean. My husband and I traveled with our 2 daughters. The room was a good size and the continental breakfast was great in the morning. I have no complaints at all.

We were celebrating a birthday. The stay was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The only problem was too many people in the pool with the 2 big groups of Cheerleaders staying also. The room and price was just right.

Hotel is lobby is very inviting and has a cozy feeling. Hotel staff were very courteous and helpful with our questions regarding restaurants nearby. Our room was very clean and updated with current style/furnishings. Complimentary breakfast options were great. Location of hotel has easy access to freeway for getting to the downtown area. Excellent hotel.

The desk help took a while to figure out I was waiting as there was no bell to ring. The ambiance of the hotel was drab. The room was in good condition. Bed was a bit hard but not the worst bed ever. Cable did not work immediately but hotel fixed it soon. For the value, however, the room was perfect. The location, near many restaurants and the mall, was not too bad if you like to walk to a short destination.

We had a good experience overall with our stay at this hotel. The room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. The room had a smoke smell to it even though it was a non-smoking hotel. It was noticeable but not unbearable for us. The workout facility was nice.

We were very impressed with how clean our suite was, and the friendliness of the staff. It was very well located for major Grand Rapids area attractions.
We were quite pleased with our stay and will recommend it to friends and family.
The only drawback was the miniscule signage posted on 28th street and Hotel Avenue--we were constrained to call the hotel to ask for directions as a result of missing the tiny sign.

Stayed here for one night after a concert. The room was very spacious and even included a small kitchen area and two flat screen TVs. Would be perfect for staying for an extended period of time.
The location was a little awkward, as it was tucked behind Meijer. But it was convenient, just off of 96.
Our bathroom smelled awful. Something was backed up in the shower drain. I told the front desk and they did something to make it smell a little better, but the next morning when I took a shower, it filled up with water and wouldn't drain.
The pillows sucked.
The continental breakfast was so-so. Good cinnamon rolls and pancakes....eggs were just awful!
Didn't get a chance to check out the pool or any other amenities.

Had a great stay in Grand Rapids visiting schools. The hotel was pretty close to everyplace we needed to be and was out of the way of traffic. Clean and quiet with nice TVs, and a friendly staff. Free breakfast, a nice indoor pool and 24 workout room rounded everything out. I'll probably stay there again on my next visit

I spent the night at this MOTEL and the experience was to say lacking. The heat had NOT been turned on in January. After turned on it would not turn off. One plus they had plenty of hot water.

We stayed there cause it was cheap and close to Michigan adventure. Was only 35 min away. Rooms were tiny and were not very clean carpet was sticky couldn't walk bare foot. Room smelled like animal pee so bad we had to buy a glade plug in and a candle still did not help we ended up having to change rooms. Front desk was nice about changing rooms. They offered to first "FOG" the room. But no way are stuff would be in there and are food. SO we asked if we could switch rooms and they did. It was defiantly a good price and i guess you get what you pay for. The pool was clean and nice but very small. Would prob not ever stay here again.

The hotel itself wasn't that bad but I would think for the amount I paid for the room I would have at least got a mini fridge or microwave in the room, and the tv only had 7 channels and the hotels free wireless wasn't all the great either I was hardly picking it up.

The pool was very nice...also very busy! Our kids had lots of fun splashing around. :-) Room was clean and quiet which was surprising being right next to the pool area. Nice continental breakfast in the AM too.

Traveled for business as well as a family function. Room was more than adequate and relatively clean, aside from the massive cobwebs over each bed, but overall the suite was nice and decently maintained. My only complaint was the noise. I could hear the man in the next room snoring & folks on the same hall were together & played in the hallway at all hours & that made sleeping very difficult.

I was in Grand Rapids for a weekend shopping trip with my husband. We were VERY impressed with this hotel. The room was clean and cozy, and the bed was comfortable. It was nice having a kitchen in the room!! The bathroom was also very nice and clean. It was definitely not your typical "hotel" feel, it was more cozy like an apartment, which we liked, especially since we stayed 2 nights. The free hot breakfast in the morning topped any hotel complimentary breakfast we have ever had!! The location is alright. It is a wee bit off the beaten path, but still very close to shopping and restaurants. We wished it had an indoor pool, but the outdoor one looked very nice for a summertime stay. We just think that in Michigan, hotels should have indoor pools for year-round use. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations especially for the price. We have stayed at other hotels for almost double the price and were much happier here. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was very clean. The pool, gym and hot tub were clean and very comfortable.
the only drawback was that we requested extra blankets 2 days in a row and never received them. The mini fridge wasn't working and no one was sent to check on it after repeated complaints.

The staff was super nice. Let us check in early, which was great. Room was super clean. Breakfast was not stocked well. We went half hour before ended and they were out of everything, I don't think they were going to restock that close. Hotel was pretty busy with big parties. We heard kids running up and down hallway all day/night. All in all good place.

This was a nice hotel. Bit older and looked it. The rate was lower than any of the other chain hotels in the area. Used the workout room, but the whirlpool was closed for repairs.

The hotel staff were very nice, and when I lost a night's stay due to weather, they couldn't refund [...] but they did give me a free breakfast certificate. The room was nice, and recently updated. There is no fridge. The room was too warm for my taste, and the individual thermostat wouldn't lower the temp even though I set it to 60; I ended up opening the window. The hotel design is awkward and I think I had to walk a quarter of a mile to get to my room.

The elevator malfunction was huge inconvenience. I was traveling on business and had a lot of equipment that could not be safely stored in my car. It resulted in numerous trips dragging the cases up and down the stairs. The closest staircase was exterior with ice on it.

We were greeted with the aroma of cookies when we checked into our rooms. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. What really blew my team away was that we accidentally left a bag in the bathroom that contained expensive colognes, makeup and other items. When we realized that night that we had left the bag, we called the hotel and described the items left. The person that answered laughed and said, "We didn't think anyone would leave this stuff intentionally." Now the best part - we offered to pay to have it shipped to us, but they refused the offer and paid to Fedex the items in a box at their expense. That simple courteous, along with their staff being honest will bring us back again when we visit Grand Rapids.

Went to Grand Rapids for Art Prize and Meijer Garden and this hotel made it easy to get to both. It was also close to some great shopping. The hotel is well cared for and the staff was very helpful. The pool was a bit small but still nice. Breakfast was better than other hotels I've been to of this size. I've stayed at other places for business in Grand Rapids that were slightly nicer but much more expensive. I'd definitely stay here again.

Location was good for a Grand Rapids weekend getaway. Lots of good restaurants in the area. We especially liked waking up to a nice hot breakfast. The hotel staff were wonderful and very accommodating when asked to google some directions to nearby attractions.

Loved the fact that it was truly a smoke free hotel when the heat when on there waS ABSOLUTELY NO SMKE SMELL. It was very clean inside and out, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was great and the atmosphere comfortable.

The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic, and served on real dishes, rather that the styrofoam plates that most places have. We didn't use the pool or fitness room so I cannot comment on that. The location was good, close to everything.

My trip was to spend some time with my son, weather being bad we spent much time in the room. Could have used another chair (was only one "comfortable chair") and because they have satellite instead of cable, the tv went out alot. Does not offer movies, which would have been nice when we were stuck indoors. Otherwise, the staff is always very helpful, after a long day of missed connections and such, the night desk gal had my room key ready for me when I walked in and made very sure that I didn't have need for anything else, since my luggage was not with me. This was 3am, and very much appreciated! With refrigerator and microwave in the room, our stay was made much more comfortable as well.

It is located right by 96, east to get to although it is set back and not easlily spotted.
The only thing I would change is there chairs in the room. They were like kitchen chairs and not comfortable to relax in. As a senior and with leg problems it is not easy to set on a bed to read or watch TV.
Everything else including there breakfast and their hospitalty was great.
We were there for a funeral so we did not do much around town
