Affinia Dumont

Fantastic facilities and location but very disappointed to return home and find our credit card had an unauthorised charge made by the hotel (less than $8 but thats not the point!). Have emailed hotel for explanation but had no reply.

The room is a mini suite( with FULL kitchen) with a king size bed. QUIET! great room darkening shades. Choice of pillow--just call housekeeping. Great location --2 blocks to #7 subway--direct shot to Grand central. For drivers-- this is just 4 blocks from the East side drive. Saw the sun rise over the East River, watched the Chrysler Building in lights! Comfy bed. FAST and plentiful hot H20. We also had desk and double pull out sofa. Could serve a family or party of 3-4 well. Smallish, but what a deal! General Manager is welcoming and professional-making sure your stay is great.

Great value, great location. staff was friendlly and helpful. Lots of dining places and delis nearby

Tons of room, extremely comfortable, plenty of amenities, friendly staff. My only complaint is that the wifi is not free

I did plenty of checking around to make sure this was the hotel for us. We were looking for a hotel with a kitchenette so we wouldn't have to eat out for breakfast every day (although we did eat out for breakfast one day at Penelope just down the street- fabulouts waffles and french toast - thanks David!), and we were also looking for a hote in a decent location. The Affinia Dumont isn't right in the middle of the action but it is close enough to walk just about anywhere and a cab is just a few bucks if you don't want to walk a few blocks. As my husband was running in the NYC marathon and wanted to save his legs, we did use a cab a few times, but mostly we walked to Times Square (15 minutes), Macy's (10 minutes), Empire State Building (5 minutes), Broadway (20 minutes), etc. I would definitely recommend staying in one of the "skyline suites" as you'll have a great view of the city and of the Chrysler Building. The room was larger than I thought it would be, but since we didn't spend too much time there it really didn't matter - but it was very nice. The kitchen was perfect size. David the concierge is wonderful. He will get you connected with anything you want to do and really knows his restaurants. We ate at some great places based on his recommendations. We went down to the Italian place just around the corner a couple of times. Best Manicotti I ever had and of course my husband loaded up on pasta for the carbs the night before the marathon. I would definitely stay there again and probably will for our next visit.

lower midtown, convenient...very large comfortable rooms with full kitchen. staff is fine. full amenities including a restaurant and bar adjacent to the hotel. clean and fresh appearance and fine for either business or vacation. it has a small lobby and minimal night staff but it seems to work. i'd stay again and i've used other affinia hotels, this one worked the best for my needs.

Stayed at this hotel twice recently, July and August. Air conditioner was rather noisy the first time. Asked for a quiet room and got one. Staff courteous and obliging, including maid service. Reasonable pricing as rooms are suites with sofa-beds and kitchens and ample closets. Great for families and when you are not out from morning till midnight. Location cannot be better. Third Avenue is full of restaurants with menus and prices to please every palate and wallet. Subway stops are just a few minutes away. Fifth Avenue shopping, Empire State Bldg, Union Square, Chelsea, East Village are just a short walk away.

I stayed at this hotel once before and returned because of that first experience. I like the hotel because it offers kitchen facilities, which means I can buy my own food and prepare my own meals and don't have to rely on eating out all the time. I also like the hotel because it is in a fairly quiet location, for NYC, yet still close enough to 42nd and 5th Ave. I was overjoyed with the "room" that I had this time. It was like (no, it was) a fully furnished apartment. I could not have asked for more. It made a special trip that much more special!
