Our room did not have an outside window, which made the room very dark and depressing. Some rooms do have outside windows. I think if we had had an outside window, our whole experience would have been a more positive one. The room is quite small, so the window is important.

One's expectations are extremely high when staying at a place like FS. I think overall it met my expectations. Didn't get any turn-down service, which was a little expected.
Also - for $600 a night... charging $8.00 for a bottle of water? $600 a night? Validate my parking. Give me free water and snacks. I hate feeling nickled and dimed when I'm paying top dollar.

Asked for a handicapped room months ago, was told we would have one overlooking "the garden," but it was a flat roof with rocks on it and NO handicap facilities (no bars in the shower or by the toilet; just a tub - no walk in shower).
SInce I assist my husband in all matters related to the bathroom, I could handle it, but still, I know what a handicapped room has and this one didn't have the safety bars and walk-in shower that I expected.
I carry an elevated toilet seat with handle bars to all hotels, so that helped him to lift himself out of the seat. I know hotels do NOT provided that, so I am used to carrying my own.
Directions for getting out of Philly given by staff outside the lobby were TOTALLY wrong; they insisted I turn right out of driveway onto 18th St, then proceed to the first street, and turn LT onto it, and when I did just that, two drivers (one in a truck, the other in a car on 18th St) yelled at me, telling me that it was ONE WAY going the opposite direction. Thanks a LOT!!

Great experience marred by poor quality of shuttle service. I asked for a shuttle to the airport. The hotel contracts with an outside provider and kept telling me that the shuttle was 2 minutes away for 15 minutes beyond the pickup time and ultimately I took a cab which cost me substantially more.

Everything about the Westin Philly experience is calming and reassuring. Staff is ultra-professional, the atmosphere is zen-like, the beds comfortable, the rooms have everything you need.
The quality of the food, both room service and in the restaurant, is not at the same high level, and I would never stay here in the warm months of the year because the windows don't open. But aside from that, great hotel.

The hotel stay was overall very comfortable. Shortly after arriving in the room, the front desk called up to make sure everything was satisfactory. The room was clean, very friendly staff, complimentary breakfast was large and filling. Unfortunately the gym amenity was at a gym a few blocks down the road. The only downfall to our stay was the parking garage that the hotel contracts through. The hotel gives a discount for parking and extended hours past your checkout which was great to be able to explore the city more. Except because it's a different company that owns the garage, the employees there were extremely nasty and unprofessional. But again, they were not affiliated with the hotel so don't hold it against them! I initially thought the Holiday Inn was a bit pricey but once seeing the location, it was perfect and well worth it!

Outside could use paint and updating but obviously they've made room upgrades. Bathroom and room clean and updated. Comfortable room for business traveler. Close to museums and downtown locations. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Pub and grub across the street has great food too.

The staff seems to be doing as well as it can with this aging hotel. The hotel is conveniently located fairly close to downtown and very close to several bus routes. The room was clean, and the staff was responsive to my requests. But the facility seems to be falling apart: the lobby is straight out of the 70s, and the fixtures in my bathroom seemed ready to crumble. Decent value, because it was a pretty inexpensive room, but I'm glad I didn't pay more than I did.

We stayed here for 4 weekday nights and would recommend the hotel to others. We were able to check in early as well as check-out late. The front lobby staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were standard and clean. We were near the elevator so there was occasionally foot traffic noise but nothing that woke us up during the night. Walls were a little thin and I could hear the room next door's wake-up call. The location of this hotel was excellent for seeing the sights. Parking was onsite with in and out privileges at $25/day. The restaurant was very slow for breakfast and took 25 minutes for oatmeal. We only ate there once.

I took my son to Philadelphia for Mother/Son Senior trip before he leaves for college. It was such a wonderful trip! Besides the great company, the location is perfect! The hotel is close to everything you want to see and close to the transportaton you need to see things farther away. The front desk staff and bell staff are wonderful. The room was comfortable for our needs. The only negative is that the room didn't have a fridge in it. That is a huge bummer considering all of the great food you are surrounded by!

My daughter and I were in town for a dance competition. The hotel was a short walk to the convention center and there were plenty of options for dining nearby. The room was clean and the staff was great. We enjoyed our stay.

Took my son to Philly for his birthday. The room was clean and well decorated; however, at $250.00 per night, I felt it was over-priced. The room was very small (reminded me of Bed and Breakfast). The location was good (historic district), but had to park in garage two blocks away for $18.00/per 24 hours and drag luggage down the street to hotel. The surfaces in the room were also a little dusty and the side table near the chair was wobbling whenever you tried to put something on it. In addition, the air conditioner was not working very well. There are no real amenities in the room. There was a bottle of water provided but you would have been charged $3.00 extra if you drank it. I brought my own drinks and got ice downstairs (much cheaper). TV only had about 20 channels, so there was very little to watch when we came in for the night. My son spent most of his time on the internet when we were in the room. (cable provided to plug into your laptop). The complimentary breakfast was scanty. You could "upgrade" if you wanted to, but we went out to breakfast at a restaurant instead. I might stay there again due to the convenient location. If you are traveling with children and need more amenities, this might not be the hotel for you.

Location can't be beat if you're visiting the old historic bits of Philadelphia, but within a 15 minute walk you can hit the cultural/arts district as well. Good restaurants all around (Amada, Fork - go to Fork's casual cafe for breakfast - and Zahav all within a few blocks. Three of the top restaurants in Philadelphia!) Very friendly, helpful staff, from the doormen/greeters, valets, front desk, et al. Really won us all over. Stayed on the 9th floor, and the room overlooked the park, which was beautiful and green, but also included the waterfront (and a battleship), the CC East skyline, etc.
The room was very comfortable - some of the bedding and upholstery looked a bit worn, but otherwise the furnishings were terrific.
Not cheap, but found a deal online that brought the price in line with the service and excellent location.

The hotel was located right where i wanted it. It was only a few blocks from the heart of olde city and all of its wonder ,and it was also only a few blocks from south st, where dreams are made. the room was big and quite nice and the staff was helpful. I plan on staying here again

I was in town for a national library convention, held at the Philadelphia Convention Center.
The staff here was incredibly helpful, making sure the shuttles and other transportation were there as scheduled. They also guided me to local restaurants and services in addition to those at the hotel, so that I was able to have some variety in my experiences, and helped me arrange a city-wide tour of historic sites. This was a wonderful experience!!

The hotel is nothing elaborate or fancy, but the rooms are very comfortable, the staff is exceptionally helpful, and all of the amenities (such as the continental breakfast) make your stay much nicer than an average hotel.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our 1st wedding anniversary. Our room was a King Bed Room and was on the corner of the building so we had lovely views. The hotel is directly across from City Hall which is a beautiful building. There is also a Macys store across the street. The location of the hotel is very convenient, and most attractions are within a coforatble walking distance. We did the open top bus tour which was a great way to see all the areas of the city. I would recomend that you do this in your first day or 2 so that you get your bearings.
The staff were very helpful, and called the bus station for us regarding timetables to the shopping outlets. The philladelphia premium outlets are 2 hours away and you need to take 2 buses, but worth the trip if you love shooping. The King of Prussia Mall is more expensensive, but is just 30 mins away by bus. We also went to Franlkin Mills Mall which took about an hour by bus. All were very good.
The bedroom was very spacious and had a fully fucntioning kitchen, dining table, couch, flat screen TV, huge King size bed and lovely ensuite. Extremely clean and modern, could not fault it. Breakfast was lovely, and was complementary.
Overall we had a lovely stay.

My teenage sons & were in Philly for a college visit to Penn U. As a teacher & single mom, I wasn't trying to pay top $. The Windsor was one of the few in the area that fit my budget. I know "you get what you pay for" so I had alredy lowered my expectations a bit.Had read some online reviews that said "bed bugs". The comment made me scratch my head. But, I decided to give it a try, & WOW! it was just the right place! Very clean, perfect location, helpful, friendly staff, beds were most comfy and NO BUGS! We felt really at home. Thank you!

This hotel is immaculat. While the rooms aren't as large and glamorous as some other hotels, they are comfortable and clean. I absolutely love the free filtered and chilled water feature. Everyone knows how frustrating it can be to arrive at your hotel after a long flight and have nothing to drink. Plus the fitness center actually has more than just a bike and treadmill.
PROS: clean, comfortable room with great amenities; great location next to Rittenhouse with lots of nearby shopping and dining.
CONS: located on a loud street, prices could be better as they are the same as nicer hotels nearby

I was a little skeptical about staying at Morris House, but after reading reviews, I decided to stay here, considering it is cheaper than other hotels in the area. What a good choice I made!
The staff was amazing; they were accommodating and friendly. My room had a unique look and it was very clean. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice and clean, and the hotel for the most part was quiet.
The area where the hotel is situated is in a safe neighborhood, close to a lot of (good) restaurants, tourist attractions, and shopping. I would recommend staying here and would gladly stay here again!

Historic well maintained hotel right close to old city. Very unique rooms a great staff. Overall great experience only negatives were parking across the street is expensive even with hotel discount and there is no hotel bar.

Great hotel, great location, great peopl

I am very impressed with this hotel. Not much to look at form the outside, but my room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff is very helpful and they know all the right places close by or further out. The manager was very accommodating with even the smallest request. The manager actually arranged to get us another cab when it was obvious to him that the first cabbie was trying to take advantages of us on our ride back to the airport! I would definitely stay at the AKA again.

AKA Rittenhouse was just what we needed, after a trip to Sesame Place and adjoining hotel rooms, the suite was perfect to give the grand kids (3 and 2) room to move about! The area offered everything from great dining to a park and just great areas for walking. The Hotel staff was fantastic, the beds more than comfortable, and the whole AKA experience great!

We got a fabulous deal on this hotel! The rooms are gorgeous, and we had a room on the 9th floor with a terrific view of the city. Hardwood floors in the entry way, followed by a contemporary bathroom. Overall, a great room for a really good rate.

Surprising City, Surprising Hotel

We had our doubts heading to Philadelphia for vacation purposes, but wanted to see the city's historic side. Both the city and the Independent Hotel were wonderful surprises. I wasn't expecting much given the what we paid, and I wouldn't go so far as to say it was luxurious, but it was definitely comfortable, clean, and doesn't have the "sameness" like many hotel chains, which was nice. I'd put the Independent in the same category as Kimpton boutique hotels, which I also enjoy. The nightly wine and cheese reception was a nice touch, the bathroom and room (king) were great sizes, and the staff was friendly. The breakfasts (complimentary and delivered to the room) were nothing spectacular, but more than adequate with a nice selection. The location was great for our purposes (walking to historical sites, MFA, Pat's King of Steaks!) and it has great access to public transportation. We had a great stay!

The fridge in the room and the AC are too loud!
Nice to have free breakfast delivered to your room, better if there was a table to have it...
I would return to this place on my next trip to Philly!

Seemed that we could walk to most any of the sites we wanted to see, like the Liberty Bell. The Reading Market (I think that is the name) is a do not miss experience and it is 2 blocks from the hotel.
Staff was warm, welcoming and extremely helpful when we had questions.
