The hotel is renovated from an old Nun convent. The Architecture inside is pleasant as you would expect from older buildings in the area. Had no issues with the staff, they were professional and helpful. Rooms were avg. for a basic 2 Queen. Mini fridge did not work and was very small anyway. Beware which side of the building your room is on. One side of the building is parallel to Bourbon St. (Noisy side).
Coffee bar was unattended most of the time. Get your joe elsewhere. Never ate breakfast at their restaurant, prices too elevated. Go to nearby Cafe Beignet instead. Jazz bar downstairs is probably the highlight of the place as it had nice ambiance and good music. Drinks were made with quality as opposed to other places. Try the Sazerac.
Hotel Concierge was helpful. While the Ghost tours guides were knowledgeable about the history, it is a 2-hour walking tour and you never get to go in any structure, as you might believe from the pamphlets. Do not do the alligator tour in their winter, there are none to see. So, it is an expensive duck boat ride in the bayou. While cool to see the swamp area, you'll need to justify it @ $60 plus a person. Most of these tours are not what they purport to be (beware).
My First time in NOLA, my understanding is it has definitely declined due to increased crime, homelessness etc. Did not see any police presence. While Bourbon St. is live, don't take your kids. It is definitely a debauchery cesspool. Don't be flashy and never go out alone!
