Grand Hotel Stay

This is a grand hotel from the old days. With that, the rooms are smaller than you may expect in a suburban hotel. Parking is valet only at $50 per day plus tips. They park your car next door in a lot that charges the general public the same price. Breakfast can be had in the formal dining room buffet style at $20 per head. No lunch or dinner is available and eating choices in the area are limited. If you are touring the city, a tour bus stops one block east of the hotel. A unique feature of the hotel is the PB&J sandwiches at 4pm, a tradition since 1988. There is a 1920s style bar in the lobby but no pub food. The hotel is about one mile from the center of the French Quarter and Bourbon St.

I desperately wanted to love this property but it missed the mark on several things. I can see the potential for this hotel to be a luxury hotel but it lacks attention to detail, exceptional service and cleanliness. The housekeeping missed my room one of the three days I was there and forgot to replenish items in the room on another. My heating didn’t work and we had temperatures in the 20-30’s and the TV was on the fritz. One evening I returned to the hotel to find the security guard asleep in the lobby. I sincerely hope the property manager will take these things into consideration and strive to return this gem to its former glory.

Poor experience from what looks like a lovely

Lots of noise from power tools. No electric on arrival, therefore couldn't issue room cards. Was told that breakfast was served between certain hours. Next day when we went down it was empty and the lights were off. Apparently they weren't serving breakfast on that day. Room had no soap on the first day and was told by one of the room cleaners that they had run out. One member of staff was indifferent to my sisters request for separate water as she was allergic to the oranges that were in the water cooler provided. Not a great experience for what is a lovely looking hotel in a good location. The TV didn't work for the whole time we were there. We asked when it would be fixed and was always told later that day! Paint smell from the redecoration.

Yhe hotel is grand. A feeling of elegance and comfort. Enjoyed my stay for the 2nd time
