Sneaky billing practice but other than quite okay

Everything went okay all in all. The room was quiet. The hinges on the bathroom door are a bit rusty but other than that it was squeaky clean. There is something that bothered me quite a lot though. Watch out for the sneaky bill you get slid under your door on the day you check-out. You will be billed a "destination fee" and some other tax that sums upto $35+ every night so it added around a $100 to our room bill for three days - that's without the use of any additional ammenities or the minibar!. They say it is in fine print on the booking page and includes ammenities like their gym (that might be true - I didnt look and I dont care, it's a sneaky way of doing business instead of being upfront about it and adding it to the shown price of the room - also the cowardice of it all, slipping it under the door on the last day instead of waiting for you to check out or better yet, disclosing it when you check in). I dont even care about the money that much, its just this nasty feeling of having been hoodwinked. And for that reason, you do not get a good review from us and we will not be returning. On a positive note, we did like the choices in interior decoration.

Thank you for taking the time to review Melrose Georgetown Hotel. We are very transparent about our destination fee which includes complimentary in-room amenities, high speed WiFi, free newspapers and access to onsite facilities. We apologize for any miscommunication surrounding this and please do give us a call should you like to discuss the matter further. I hope you will consider giving us another chance to impress you the next time you visit DC.
Best regards,
