Das Captain's House befindet sich im zweiten und dritten Stock eines historischen GebÀudes (National Heritage) aus dem Jahr 1652.

Die Lage der Wohnung ist direkt im Herzen der Altstadt, in einer Wohn- und FußgĂ€ngerzone, die leicht zu erreichen ist und ein perfekter Ausgangspunkt ist, um die Stadt zu Fuß, mit dem Fahrrad oder mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu erkunden.

Wir glauben, dass ein Urlaub in einer sauberen Umgebung so viel komfortabler ist, deshalb geben wir uns zusĂ€tzliche MĂŒhe, um eine blitzsaubere Wohnung zu liefern.

Bei Ankunft und Abreise wird das GepĂ€ck fĂŒr Sie auf und ab gebracht.
Auch bei Ihrer Ankunft nehme ich Sie mit auf eine Tour durch die Nachbarschaft, um Ihnen die schönen Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten zu zeigen.

Der erste Stock besteht aus dem Hauptschlafzimmer mit einem großen Doppelbett. Badezimmer mit Regendusche und Toilette. Es gibt auch eine extra separate Toilette.
Das zweite Schlafzimmer ist gemĂŒtlich und mit zwei Einzelbetten ausgestattet, die auch als Kingsize-Doppelbett genutzt werden können.

Es gibt viele HandtĂŒcher, Toilettenpapier und Bio-Duschgel, Shampoo und Conditioner.

Vom zweiten Schlafzimmer gehen Sie direkt auf eine sehr sonnige und ruhige Terrasse.

Der gesamte zweite Stock besteht aus einem gerĂ€umigen Wohnzimmer mit zwei bequemen Sofas und einer kleinen, aber voll ausgestatteten KĂŒche.
Es gibt auch einen Fernseher, eine CD und einen DVD-Player mit einer großen Auswahl an DVD-Serien und Filmen.

Die KĂŒche ist mit Bio-Ölen, Essig, KrĂ€utern und GewĂŒrzen ausgestattet.
Es gibt auch eine Theke mit Bio-Kaffee und Tee.

It was a fantastic vacation! The apartment is in a beautiful, lovingly furnished old house, just as you'd expect in Amsterdam. Everything is clean, the owner, Arjen, gave us a very friendly welcome, and the tour he took us through the neighborhood absolutely hit the spot with my daughters, who had never been to Amsterdam before. Almost everything is very close, usually within 12 to 20 minutes' walk, and if not - we had to use public transport for a cat café - that's no problem either. This city is so rich in diverse cultural opportunities that a week was far too short. Whether it's serious things (the Anne Frank House or the Holocaust Museum), interesting places (the Chinese Quarter around the corner, the Prostitute Museum, or a diamond polishing factory), trendy spots (Marineterrein for swimming), or the must-do activity when in the city: the canal cruise - everything starts from this beautiful captain's house - the icing on the cake. Arjen's wunderbares KapitÀnshaus

Mein Partner und ich verbrachten eine Woche Ferien mit meinen Eltern wĂ€hrend der Corona Zeit im wundervollen Amsterdam. Wunderbar aufgehoben im Arjen's KapitĂ€nshaus! Einfach zu Fuss vom Bahnhof erreichbar, steht das herrliche Haus, mit Hortensien und Geissblatt vor der TĂŒr. Herzlichst wurden wir vom Besitzer Arjen begrĂŒsst, der uns die Koffer in den oberen Stock tragen half. Die Treppen sind typisch fĂŒr Amsterdam steil, aber von meinen Eltern in höherem Alter vollkommen begehbar. Mit Herzlichkeit, frischen Blumen und Sorgfalt waren die zwei Schlafzimmer (ruhig fĂŒr guten und erholsamen Schlaf), Bad und ein weiteres WC im 1. Stock eingerichtet und im 2. Stock das Wohnzimmer, auf dessen Esstisch sogar DesinfektionsflĂ€schchen, Mundschutz und Handschuhe lagen. Arjen machte eine kurze FĂŒhrung und gab uns Tips wo was wie...,dessen Restaurantempfehlungen wir auch gerne weiter empfehlen! Alle SehenswĂŒrdigkeiten sind von hier aus gut zu Fuss erreichbar. Wir empfehlen aber sicher sich ein Fahrrad zu mieten und Amsterdam und seine Grachten auch auf die hollĂ€ndische Art zu erleben. Danke Arjen fĂŒr einen unvergesslich schönen Aufenthalt in Deinem KapitĂ€nshaus in Amsterdam, Deine Herzlichkeit und BemĂŒhungen! Wir kommen wieder!

The apartment was in a 400 year old building in a quiet foliage-lined pedestrian walkway just a short walk from the railway station and many of Amsterdam’s important sites. The apartment was beautifully furnished and provided us with a generous quantity of towels, kitchen utensils, paper goods and cooking essentials, as well as gift of beer, wine and sweets. It is located on the third and fourth floors (American numeration), so if stairs are a problem, this would not be the place for you. Our host, Arjen, however, met us when we arrived and carried our luggage up the stairs. He did the same when it was time to leave. He actually accompanied us to the train station, pulling our luggage and stayed with us until we boarded our train to the airport. We three women, well into retirement age, appreciated that. Arjen was an extraordinary host. He took us on a tour of the neighborhood and pointed out points of historical interest as well as restaurants and other shops that we might enjoy. He offered suggestions as to possible day trips and museums we might want to explore. He texted the next day to make sure that we had no problems. His kindness really added to our enjoyment of our stay in Amsterdam.

The captains house was perfect for us. Arjen is the perfect host. He offered to meet us at the train station and help move our luggage to his home. He insisted that he carry our luggage up (and down when we left) the stairs. I can see why. The stairway is steep and narrow - up 3 floors. The 4 of us, although in our 70’s and 80’s had no trouble going up and down the stairs. Arjen provided fresh cut flowers, live plants, including an orchid, a bottle of wine and beer, and gave us a walking tour of the neighborhood after our arrival. He pointed out favorite restaurants and grocery stores. The whole house was perfect for us - 2 bedsores, one with a private garden/sitting area, 1 and 1/2 bathrooms, which is rare to find in the VRBO’s we stayed in. Bedrooms and bathrooms are on the 3rd floor. The kitchen, eating area and living room areoin the 4th floor. There was very little noise from street traffic which is a plus when you stay in the city. The beds were extremely comfortable. Arjen checked on us while we were there to see if we needed anything - again, the perfect host. We were about 12 minutes walk from the train station, buses, ferries and the bike excursion we went on. Overall, we could not have asked for a better place to stay.

Everything was perfect during our 5 day stay.

The location was very convenient for walking or taking an Uber to locations throughout the city. Since there were three women in our group, having two bathrooms was a plus. We enjoyed being able to relax in the spacious living room each evening. The kitchen has everything anyone would need during their stay including coffee and tea. Arjen, our host, carried our bags up and down the stairs and during a tour of the area he introduced us to nearby restaurants which we visited each night.

LOVED the Captain’s House

Arjen and his Captain’s House were both AMAZING! Arjen was a FANTASTIC host!He carried all of our luggage in (& out!), gave us a walking tour that definitely helped familiarize us with the neighborhood, and he gave us several recommendations for places to eat
.all of which were delicious!The Captain’s House was in a perfect location! Super central & convenient to everything! Best Ever!

Our stay at The Captain's House was the best holiday apartment and stay/experience we have ever had. Family Trip to Amsterdam

My wife and I, along with our adult children, were visiting Amsterdam as part of a longer trip to the UK. Our goal was to be out of the main touristy areas but with easy access to them. Captain's House was a great location in that way. It has a very 'neighborhoody' feel, yet it's a short walk from the Nemo Museum, Nieuwmarkt, the Red Light District, and the Central Station, which will get you anywhere you need to go in the city. Arjen, our host, went above and beyond to make us feel at home. He took the time to familiarize us with the neighborhood, pointing out the best places to dine, unwind, and shop for groceries, while also sharing some interesting historical tidbits. His guidance was invaluable and quickly made us feel like locals. The apartment was well-equipped and comfortable. We didn't cook, but it looked like he had everything you would need if you wanted to - there were just too many great restaurants to choose from! The only cons: The noise on the street late at night when the bar around the corner closes. (Only the front room and it's better if the windows and shutters are closed) Very steep and narrow steps up (though that's most homes in Amsterdam, from what I've learned.) We absolutely would stay here again!

The perfect home base for our stay in Amsterdam

Arjen was such an amazing host. He was there to greet us, helped carry our bags upstairs and gave us a lovely walking tour around the neighborhood. The apartment was everything we needed and more. The kitchenette is well equipped, the beds are comfy, the 2nd bathroom was nice to have, as was the patio. The neighborhood was easy to learn, and I felt completely safe, even when I went out for a stroll on my own. We walked almost everywhere we went, and we went everywhere...Anne Frank House, Van Gogh, Moco, Rijksmuseum, ARTIS, Nemo, A'DAM Lookout, This is Holland, canal tours etc. And it is very close to Central Station and the ferry. I will definitely Äșook for this rental first when I return and would recommend it to anyone.

Captain House - January 2024

Very quaint authentic building with a rather steep indoor staircase to the 3rd and 4th floor - no lift. But, Arjen, the owner, helped us load in/load out our luggage. He and his family lived next door - very convenient if we had inquiries for him. He was so helpful: initially walked us through the apartment and explained the appliances, ventilation, heating and entertainment systems. He then gave us a 45 minute walking tour of the neighborhood, and suggested places to eat, have coffee and a pastry, shop for groceries and visit (e.g. museums) - overall, a fine location. There was a popular tavern, Pollux, about 2 blocks away, and it could get a little noisy at closing time as crowds flowed out onto the street -- overall though, the crowd noise was tolerable. We'd definitely go again - and Arjen was a fine host!

Host Famly Just Great

I have been a Vrbo user for over 20 years. Arjen who lives down stairs was the most kind and helpful host i have experienced among a lot of helpful hosts i have met. In this locatio you feel you are living in Amsterdam, but its very central. This was my third time in Amsterdam, so i have seen many angles.

Exceptional Host, Superb Location,

Arjen was attentive without being intrusive. His orientation walk through the neighborhood was extremely helpful. He helped with our heavy bags and had some nice treats as well as a well provisioned kitchen. There were fresh flowers in the apartment throughout our stay. All was very clean and organized with nice soap products and lots of towels. Having the extra toilet is a big plus. Close to Central Station and the Rembrandt House, everything we wanted was near at hand but a bit outside the commotion of tourists in the Red Light District. Be advised that the stairs are steep (as they generally are in these homes from the 1600’s) but the experience of staying in a historic place is worth the effort. We can not say enough good things about our stay and would definitely book it again if we visit in the future.
