Shelley's Retreat, entire house & efficiency suite

Small events are allowed when pre-approved by the Host. Increased damage insurance required and extra fee’s may be applied. Take in the town, then retreat to the country! A Private, tranquil 1950’s, 1800 sq ft, 2 suite home in Ann Arbor. Unique location on 6 acres, set back 350 feet from the road with total privacy and peacefulness. A serene getaway, yet 2-4 miles from shopping and restaurants. 2 miles to I-94 expressway (west to Chicago, east to Detroit), 25 miles to Detroit Metro Airport, 3.4 miles to “The Big House,” the largest football stadium in the United States, and Crisler Center, home to Michigan Basketball. Great for Golfers, within 10 miles of 10 public courses! Ideal for couples traveling alone or families with adult children or parents. Perfect for long term stays for medical professionals. 5-7 miles to medical centers.

Guests have use of the entire house and an attached efficiency suite.

The Upper Level
3 bedrooms and a full bath with tub. One bedroom has a king size bed, one bedroom has a full size bed, and one bedroom has a daybed that opens to two twin size beds and is set up as a sitting room with two chairs. This room also has Dish Satellite TV. All three bedrooms and the bathroom have their own doors. The upper level hallway is open to the great room. A portable screen is available to partition and add privacy to the upper level.

The Efficiency Suite
(max: 2 people)
The north end room is a 315 sq ft. Unit attached to the primary dwelling with 2 entries. The entry door off the great room has a keypad lock, the code is given when booking is confirmed. The sliding glass door wall of the suite has it's own key lock. Includes a queen size bed, Dish Satellite TV, sitting area, table & four chairs, kitchenette (mini frig, microwave, toaster, coffee maker) and private bathroom with shower. This unit has it’s own furnace. Thermostat is on the left side wall when entering the room. There is a separate portable air conditioner for this area. It may take a few minutes for the water to heat up in the shower, let it run for a while. There is extra toilet paper in a can sitting on the shelf and several more rolls in the clothes closet on the upper shelf.

The Great Room
An open common area. It includes the Kitchen with "AN AIR BALLOON BASKET," glass top island, Dining area with table and living room with couch, love seat, two rocking chairs, a large screen Dish Satellite TV, and Woodstove. The comfortable seating offers a great place to watch sports, converse or just relax and watch the wildlife. Deer, Wild Turkeys, Rabbits and Birds are frequent visitors to the football field size front yard.

The Lower Level
Office
Desk, library and printer. A Queen size Futon and single chair bed provides additional sleeping options.

Laundry Room
Washer & Dryer (Clothes steamer in Efficiency closet).

The "Averey."
An Italian themed gathering room dedicated to the "Averey's Adventures," short stories, written by Shelley Brooks Sample, your Host. A place to meet, greet, and gather. Enjoy a glass of wine while viewing images of Italy by Photographer, and Publisher of Global Chic Magazines, Terry K. Lawrence.

Do not use the woodstove without personal instruction from the Host

SEPTIC SYSTEM:
Please follow posted Septic System disposal rules. It is crucial that nothing is put into the toilets other than pee, poo & toilet paper. Baby wipes & tampons and all other items go in waste basket, even if it says “flushable!”

WiFi:
WiFi is provided by a Verizon Orbit hotspot. The wifi name is “retreat.” The password will be given in your welcome letter.
SPEED AND CONNECTIVITY CAN BE SPOTY AND DISAPPOINTING if trying to stream. The retreat is in a rural area with few choices for wifi.

TV'S
There are 3 TV's connected to Dish Satellite. One in the efficiency suite, the great room, and upper level daybed room.

LOWER LEVEL ACCESS:
The low ceiling going down the stairs can be dangerous and cause a head injury. Padding has been added, however use caution by ducking head.

PRIVATE AREA:
Garage area is a private area, however door into garage is unlocked in case emergency exit is necessary.

PATIO:
Some stones are uneven. Carefully watch your step. Use at own risk.

FARM ANIMALS:
Please do not attempt to enter fenced areas or the barn. Do not feed goats anything except animal crackers that are provided. Feed at your own risk. Fingers can get pinched.

CHECKING OUT:
All towels in hampers
Strip bed and leave at foot of bed
Trash to outdoor container
All dirty dishes in dishwasher
Windows shut & locked
Heat/AC turned down
Notify Host of your departure
Check for: chargers in outlets, items in medicine cabinets, under beds, in closets and behind doors.
