Shops, cafés and restaurants offer local crafts alongside local cheeses. Look out for High Cross on Boroughgate, which is the site of the original cheese market. For train enthusiasts, or those looking to enjoy a journey through the stunning surrounding areas, Appleby is on the Settle to Carlisle scenic railway line. Steam trains run weekly through the summer months.
