Tucked on a quiet street in northeast Bend with the canal running along the back of the property, Canal Trail Base Camp is a Craftsman-style four-bedroom that does exactly what the name promises: sends you out into Central Oregon in the morning, and makes coming home the best part of the day.

The deck is where this house earns its keep. There's a hot tub for the end of a long day, a gas firepit ringed with lounge seating, an outdoor dining table under an umbrella, and a BBQ a few steps away — plus room in the yard for a round of cornhole while dinner cooks. It backs onto open ground and the canal, so the whole setup feels private, and it's the spot guests come back to trip after trip.

Inside, the layout is built for a full house. An oversized sectional anchors the living room, with a fireplace, a TV, and sliding doors that open straight onto the deck so the two spaces run together. Big windows pull in a lot of high desert light. The kitchen is genuinely stocked — enough counter space for two or three people to work a meal at once — and it flows into a dining table with seating for the whole group, one of those details that's surprisingly hard to find in a rental this size.

Four bedrooms handle the sleeping. Three are set up with king beds, and the fourth is the one the kids claim: a full-size bunk room made for cousins, siblings, or whoever calls it first. Traveling with little ones is easy here — stair gates, cabinet locks, and games are on hand, with a Pack 'n Play and high chair available on request.

Step out the back and you're on the trail: a flat, quiet path along the canal that's ideal for a morning run, a bike ride, or an evening walk. A short stroll away, Pine Nursery Park spreads across more than 150 acres with pickleball courts, a disc golf course, sand volleyball, sports fields, a playground, an off-leash dog area, a stocked fishing pond, and miles of paved loop trail. Downtown Bend is about ten minutes by car and the Old Mill District about fifteen, close enough to be convenient but far enough that the neighborhood stays quiet after dark. Mt. Bachelor is roughly forty-five minutes to an hour southwest, and the two-car garage is a handy place to stash skis, boards, and bikes between outings.

Central Oregon rewards whatever season you show up in. Summer brings rafting and floating on the Deschutes, fishing, rock climbing at Smith Rock, and hiking through the Cascade Lakes. Fall turns the high desert gold and the trail networks quiet down. Winter puts skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing within reach, followed by a soak in the hot tub and a fire out back. - Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in this home. If undisclosed pets are brought into the home without AvantStay's approval there is a fine of $500 per pet.

As part of our commitment to being good neighbors, occupancy limits and quiet hours (9pm-8am) are strictly enforced. No speakers or sound systems will be provided for use in our properties. Violation of any noise ordinances will be subject to fines that can reach up to $10,000 per violation.

Events or parties are not allowed without prior written approval and an additional fee. Any unauthorized parties or events will be shut down and a fine will be assessed. Please inquire for more information about our event policies and fees.
