Welcome to the 828 - a modern mountain home just 8 minutes from Boone and App State.

With 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and space to sleep up to 12 guests, it`s perfect for families, friend groups, or those visiting the High Country to hike, ski or unwind.

The home features a spacious open-concept living area, fast WiFi, and smart TVs throughout.

The fully stocked kitchen makes cooking easy (feel free to use our spices - they`re in alphabetical order!), while the private hot tub offers the perfect way to relax after a day of adventure.

Enjoy peaceful wooded surroundings that make you feel like you`re in a treehouse, a dog friendly layout (1 dog max), and thoughtful + personal touches throughout to make your stay easy & memorable.

Named after our region’s area code (and our street number!), The 828 embodies the spirit of the North Carolina High Country – offering cozy comfort and modern convenience amid the beauty of the mountains.

Inside, you’ll find an open and welcoming space filled with all the comforts of home. A fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to cook for a crowd, and a large dining area means everyone can enjoy meals together. The living room invites you to relax with plush seating and a smart TV for movie nights. High-speed Wi-Fi is provided, so whether you’re streaming, remote-working, or sharing vacation photos, you’ll stay connected with ease. We’ve also made family-friendliness a priority – from a fun rec room with bunk beds for the kids, to plenty of room for everyone to spread out and unwind.

Step outside and experience your private mountain oasis. A private hot tub awaits on the wraparound porch, ready to soothe you amongst the trees after a day of exploring. Sip your morning coffee on the front or back porch as you take in the fresh mountain air. The 828 is also dog-friendly (up to 1 dog max) – we know vacations are better with your furry family members (please just make sure your pup is on the reservation as there is a pet fee).

Despite its peaceful setting, The 828 is amazingly convenient: downtown Boone and Appalachian State University are just an 8-minute drive away. You’re minutes from Boone’s charming shops, local restaurants, and campus events, yet tucked away on a quiet street that offers privacy and relaxation. Whether you’re here to cheer on the Mountaineers, hike the Blue Ridge trails, or ski nearby slopes, our location makes it easy to enjoy the best of the High Country. At day’s end, return to The 828 to roast marshmallows around the fire pit and soak in the hot tub while fireflies light up the yard.

Sleeping Arrangements (Room-by-Room)

MASTER BEDROOM: King bed – A roomy master suite featuring a luxurious king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom for added privacy.

BEDROOM 2 (Main Level): King bed – A comfortable second bedroom on the main floor with a king bed, perfect for another couple or family members to relax in comfort.

BEDROOM 3 (Main Level): Two Twin beds – This bedroom features a pair of twin beds, ideal for kids or singles. It’s a cozy space where each guest can have their own bed.

BEDROOM 4 (Downstairs Suite): Queen bed – A private downstairs suite with a queen-size bed. This quiet retreat is tucked away on the lower level, offering extra privacy, en-suite bath and private entry from the exterior

REC ROOM: Twin-over-Twin Bunk Beds – The downstairs recreation room doubles as an additional sleeping area, equipped with a fun bunk bed that sleeps two of your smaller guests. Kids and teens love this space – it’s like their own indoor camp-out spot!

FLEX SPACE (Downstairs): Pullout Sofa Bed – A comfortable pullout couch in the lower-level flex space converts into a bed for 1-2 guests. It’s great for extra guests or anyone who wants a separate, cozy corner to themselves.

With this arrangement of 4 dedicated bedrooms plus two extra sleeping spaces, your whole group of up to 12 can sleep comfortably without feeling crowded. High-quality linens and pillows are provided for every bed, ensuring a good night’s rest after your adventures.

We live here when it`s not booked and love sharing this space with respectful guests - it`s a place filled with heart, and we hope you`ll feel that during your stay.
ALL TRASH MUST BE BAGGED BEFORE PLACING IN OUTDOOR TRASH CANS (If unbagged trash is found in the outdoor trash cans, there will be a $100 fee)

Dogs: we love dogs but they are not allowed on any furniture. There will be a $200 fee for any pet hair found on furniture - thank you for understanding!

Please keep dogs crates or take them with you any time you leave.

Dogs should always be on leash any time they are outside on the property

Fire-pit
We hope you enjoy the outdoor space as much as we have! Firewood is not provided, but can be purchased at most of the grocery stores around town and at some gas stations. Please read through the guidelines to ensure safety and fun.
- [ ] Exercise caution when enjoying the fire and do not leave it unattended.
- [ ] Make sure children are supervised at all times.
- [ ] Do not burn any plastics or anything except wood and fire starter/kindling.
- [ ] Please note that the stairs from the fire pit area to the driveway can be steep and should be used at your own risk. Main access to the side yard is through the lower level game room or the back deck.
- [ ] NO CLIMBING ON ROCKS BY FIRE PIT OR BY DRIVEWAY

Hot tub rules and use
- [ ] Temperature can be adjusted using the up and down arrows.
- [ ] Please rinse and wipe feet before entering the hot tub.
- [ ] 4 person limit at a time
- [ ] No glass in or around the hot tub
- [ ] Elderly, those with medical conditions, and pregnant women should consult a doctor before entering the hot tub.
- [ ] No infants in the hot tub.
- [ ] Please, no unsupervised children.
- [ ] What happens in the hot tub stays in the hot tub, so please be mindful.
- [ ] Turn all knobs off when you exit, this allows the hot tub to warm back up.
- [ ] The hot tub cover is your friend, treat it nicely and always return it to its home. It will keep the water nice and cozy for your next visit and keep free from debris.
