Dieses Cottage befindet sich in einem alten, mit Birkenholz bewachsenen Lavagebiet in West-Island.

Es hat ein Schlafzimmer (fĂŒr 3-4 Personen), ein Schlafzimmer im 2. Stock (fĂŒr 2 Personen), ein Studio mit einem Schlafsofa (fĂŒr 1-2 Personen), eine offene KĂŒche / Esszimmer / Wohnzimmer, eine w. c, eine Dusche und eine finnische Sauna mit Hinterausgang. Ein großer Balkon umgibt das Haus, mit Zugang zum Parkplatz ĂŒber eine FußgĂ€ngerbrĂŒcke.

Das Haus liegt in einer lĂ€ndlichen Gegend, die von Lava und Birkenholz geprĂ€gt ist. Das Äußere ist wartungsfrei, mit LĂ€rche und Gras (Dach) verkleidet. Wasser (wunderbar rein und frisch) wird aus der Lava unter dem Haus gewonnen.

Die Entfernung nach Reykjavik betrÀgt etwa 90 km und nach Stykkisholmur, dem Snaefellsnes-Nationalpark und Reykholt / Husafell sind es etwa eine Autostunde.

Bitte beachten Sie, dass das Haus etwas abseits ist, i. e. es befindet sich etwa 14 km entfernt. (Schotterstraße) von der Hauptstraße nach Stykkisholmur und Snéfellsnes und die letzten 3-4 km. eine einfache Einfahrt sind. Alle Leistungen werden in Borgarnes gesucht etwa 20-25 min. Fahrt vom Haus entfernt.

Das Haus befindet sich am Rande einer Gegend, wo es etwa 10 HÀuser in der Lava gestreut, wenige hundert Meter von einem anderen GebÀude. Ruhe und Stille, unterbrochen nur durch den Gesang der Vögel und dem Klang von Wasser aus einem nahe gelegenen Bach.

Das Panorama ist 360 °. Ausgezeichnete Wanderwege in der Lavafelder / Wald oder auf den nahe gelegenen HĂŒgeln und HĂ€ngen. Eine sehr reiche arktische Flora. In der NĂ€he SĂŒĂŸwasserfischen in Lake Hitarvatn und Langavatn und fliegen in den weltweit anerkannten LachsflĂŒsse von West-Island Angeln.

Freizeit Dienstleistungen in der Region zÀhlen Reiten, Angeln, Wandern, Vogelbeobachtung usw.

Alle Einrichtungen (z. G. Tourist Info, Einkaufen, medizinische Versorgung, schwimmen Halle, eine BĂ€ckerei und Coffee-Shops usw.) sind in Borgarnes, 25 km zu erreichen. ein Weg.

Very nice House in a phantastic remote location

We enjoyed our stay in this very beautiful house. It is very clean and the facilities are very nice. A big plus is the Sauna, which we enjoyed very much. The bathroom is quite small, but this was no Problem for us. The kitchen is beside the not available dishwasher fully equiped, but there is no washing machine. The view to the surroundings is great and you could start a hiking tour directly from the house. We would recommend this house and the location to everybody who wantÂŽs to get in touch with the nature of Iceland and to enjoy some relaxed days in a great house. The remote location - approx. 20 min. drive away from the paved road No. 54 - was OK for us. If we will come back to this area of Iceland, we would definitly choose this house again.

Amazing stay in West Iceland

We so enjoyed staying in this lovely house! We visited in August and were very lucky with the weather, so were able to take advantage of the large deck and its amazing views. We traveled with another couple, and the house was a perfect size for the four of us. There are two very comfortable bedrooms (with amazing views), a cozy living area and kitchen/dining area that are all one space, and a little study off the living area. So we had plenty of room to spread out and relax. We also took advantage of the charcoal grill several nights for dinner. There's also a wood burning stove in the center that we used one night and I'm sure is wonderful to have during colder weather. The landscape around the house is just gorgeous. The house is nestled up near a steep mountain, and close by is a little creek with some walking paths. There are sheep all around too so we could frequently hear them baaing at each other. The whole area was so quiet and peaceful, it was really lovely. We were definitely sad to leave! The house is in a good location for plenty of day trips. We took trips around the Snaefellsnes peninsula, out to Husafell for hiking, to Glymur waterfall and Pingvellir, and we even took the car ferry up to the west fjords for one night. There are grocery stores, cafes, and some restaurants in Borganes, which is not far from the house. To get to the house from the main road is about 15km of gravel road (~25 minutes drive), which is mostly very easy driving, and the scenery is really something. There is a stretch of road that's super rocky, so just be aware of that if you're renting a car.

Gorgeous house in a spectacular setting - wonderful as a base for exploring western Iceland!

We absolutely loved this house and its location! It was so relaxing to return to this beautiful and beautifully maintained home after long days of exploring the gorgeous Icelandic countryside. Everything in the house was clean, seemingly brand new, and pristine. It is obviously a home that was built and that is taken care of with much attention and love. The house is compact but was spacious enough to more than comfortably accommodate the four adults in our group when we wanted to be together and to give us private space when we wanted to be apart. We really enjoyed the pool in Borgarnes as well - definitely worth a visit or two. And the town had everything we needed in terms of bank, gas, groceries and a pretty good pizza restaurant as well. Last but not least, our hosts, Solveig and Gudmundur, could not have been nicer or more helpful! They took a great deal of time to answer all our questions and guide us to wonderful places to see in the area. We could have happily stayed in this beautiful home for much longer, and hope to visit again sometime soon.

out of this world (in a very good way!)

We couldn't quite believe our luck when we first saw the cottage.. the photos and the description give a very accurate idea of the cottage itself but the landscape it is set in is unimaginable!! The 20 or so minutes you have to drive to get to the cottage from the main road go very quickly as you stare out of the window. We were really fortunate to stay here, and time flew. The cottage has everything you need and the owners are incredibly kind and very responsive. This tops our long line of holiday rentals over the years...thank you for sharing it!!!

Spectacular house in a breathtaking setting

Wow! We spent six days here and wished we could have spent another sixty. The house provides the perfect base camp from which to explore Western Iceland. The design of the house maximizes the magical Icelandic summer light with large and many windows, and minimizes the footprint of the house by almost seeming to merge with the surrounding landscape. You enter the house on a wooden walkway laid over a small ravine and the volcanic rocks (now covered in greenery from flowers to bushes to small birches and trees) surrounding it. It feels as if the house floats on top of nature. A large wooden deck surrounds the house (located east to West to maximize the light) and we found ourselves spending lots of time outside on the deck. You have access to an outdoor dining table with eight chairs and a couple of lounge chairs perfect for afternoon reading or napping or just taking in the scenery. Small bushes and trees surround the deck shielding it from the Icelandic wind without obstructing the wonderful views of the mountains, the sea in the background or the glacier way off in the distance. And it still gets plenty of light. The inside is laid out just as cleverly with the common areas in the middle (kitchen/dining/living area) and two bedrooms and an office located on opposite sides of the house for maximum privacy. We are a family of four and got all the together time we wanted/needed and yet had space to withdraw for quiet time/reading/napping. A perfect layout making the house feel a lot bigger than it is. It's stocked with everything that you could want. We did not go missing for anything. The shower area with its sauna and a window to the Icelandic landscape in the shower made for long and pleasant showers (we never ran out of water). There is a flat screen TV and a DVD player (even Apple TV) that proved perfect for watching the "Secret Life of Walter Mitty" with Ben Stiller. Seemed perfect given the setting and content. It was. The owners are wonderful - friendly, helpful, generous with their time and suggestions for what to do and/or how to get there - completing the experience. We had a magical six days in Iceland and left longing for when we will be back. We would recommend this house for anyone who is looking for a peaceful setting in spectacular nature ... far away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to a lot of incredible places and experiences in Western Iceland. Thank you!

Fantastic overall experience - very recommendable!

Booking and pre-departure contact was very easy, the owners are super-responsive. We arrived to Reykjavik mid-day and picked up the keys at the owners' home. They were extremely nice and welcoming. We were provided with all necessary information about the house, the area and activities - basically everything you need. The house is wonderfully located in a lava field. It is part of group of scattered summer houses with absolute privacy - sheep are the only neighbours you will encounter. The house is very thoughtfully designed (by the owner). It was only the two of us staying there but there is enough room for up to six people with sufficient privacy. For example, the two bedrooms are each located at opposite ends of the house. The light interior is very high quality and has this nice Northern, reduced feel to it and shows no signs of wear. The house was very clean and in an immaculate condition when we arrived, with fresh sheets and an abundance of towels, which is handy in view of the sauna facilities. All the amenities work perfectly including the coffee maker, sauna and fireplace (there was a pile of wood which was sufficient for the first two days after arrival - you can restock in Borganes). There is a Hi Fi set with fine speakers to which you can connect your I-Phone/Computer but bring the necessary cable (USB or this red and white one). However, there's also a nice collection of records including Leonard Cohen which become our favourite CD during the stay. This is a very cozy place for spending a rainy day inside reading and chatting. The patio has wonderful views (you see the glaciers, volcano and the sea in the distance) and the layout shields you from the wind. The house is easily accessible with any small car and within a short drive of up to 2 hours you reach the Snaefellsjökul peninsula, Stykkisholmur and the Reykholt area. It might be advisable to opt for a 4 wheel drive if you want to take short cuts here and there, though. We were very sad when leaving after a week we spent in the house and recommend this place with no reservations whatsoever.
