The key word in the details of this property is "rustic". This is more like camping on the beach in a bare cabin with a pool rather than staying in a "villa". If you are ok with lots of insects in the house and a very rustic somewhat dirty area around the pool and the bare essentials and just want to be on the beach than this might be a good option. It is not a relaxing villa as advertised. I would strongly recommend not renting during the dry season- or anytime the weather is above 80 degrees during the day. We ended up having to get hotel rooms across the street because there is no AC and it didn't cool down at night in the cabin very much at all. My daughter slept with a beetle the one night we were there. We ended up sleeping at the hotel and used the kitchen and property at the house during the day. There are ants all over the kitchen but that may just be how it is in that climate. I wish I had had a review like this before I booked this house so I knew what I was really booking. However, the private pool was nice to have with the extreme heat. I would not book this again for my family needs but it might be ok depending upon what you are looking for and the season that it is booked. The caretaker is doing the best she can with the state of the property and works very hard to keep it nice. The beach is fabulous and not very busy at all. If you want to get into Tamarindo- you either have to drive about 45 min or it is about a 20 min walk with a ferry crossing.

A lovely location!As expected from the picures, the front beach is amazing!The service we got was great, good advices, help for booking activities, direction for groceries, all what we needed, and il a friendly way.Thumbs up to Gabriela who did all the maintenance, and hello to the dogs :)The only drawbak would be prices for groceries ans restaurants, in the immediate area, which are totally inflated...

Rustic but wow...on the beach

Literally on the beach. Right outside the property gate was a pleasant patch of shade. For us that was a bonus that can not be understated. Gabriella was responsive to our needs immediately. She maintained the pool and outdoor space daily. Speaking of the pool, what a delight to just chill. The house itself was certainly rustic. A bit dated. The beds/linens could use some updating as well as the fans (maybe a couple more). No AC was a challenge at times as ocean breezes calm at night. Overall, the property and location can't be beat (well maybe at 5 times the cost-check it out). Yoga, a couple of restaurants, surf lessons, and a small store were all a few minutes walk away. FYI-Various birds, lizards, crabs, and monkeys were frequent visitors. So cool.

Great Location

This home is footsteps away from the ocean in a nice, quaint neighborhood. There is a cute cafe within walking distance. Please be aware that the house has no air conditioning and it was very hot during our stay. There was no oven so be careful when buying food. There isnt a washer or dryer on the property. There are no beach towels so make sure you bring your own. The pool was nice and large and we loved our daily visits with the community dogs Aside from amenities our family had a great time and enjoyed watching the sunset in the backyard (beach).

Perfect home for our group!

This house was perfect for us! We were the right distance out of Tamarindo for us. The beach out front is basically private until sunset. But even at sunset, it's not that busy. The pool was a savior as we are from the Northern states and not used to the heat and humidity. Gabriella was fantastic and helped with any questions we had. This was the perfect "beach house" that we were looking for. I highly recommend. We had two families with kids ranging from 2-20. The twin bed rooms with the Jack & Jill bathroom were perfect for the kids.

Location, Location, Location

The home itself was okay. The kitchen is not very well equipped. There is no a/c so if you want to relax in the home during the day this isnt the right fit for you. It does cool down in the evening. We stayed in February, it was in the 90s. The beds could use updating. In general, the owner would benefit in investing a small amount back into the property. Also you should be aware the house caretaker lives directly behind the house in a casita, very close, which was unexpected but we didnt mind. She came by to water plants, sweep, clean pool ect. She was quiet & respected our privacy. Since for our family sitting in an air conditioned house wasn't our priority, we were still very happy. The pool is huge! The location is amazing. You step out the back gate onto a nearly empty gorgeous beach. With 4 kids you cant beat having the beach steps away. Within the gated community there's a coffee shop & resturant walking distance. There's also a very small grocery store & surf rental place thats a little further walk or very short drive. I'd HIGHLY recommend stopping at the walmart in liberia for groceries though - the local stores are very overpriced. You can walk down to the river mouth & pay to have boats take you to Tamirindo which has much more crowded beaches but has all the tourist activities, shops & restaurant selections. All in all for the price it is a great value for a large group. There were 9 of us and we had plenty of room.
