Villa Abejita in Playa Negra: Pool, AC, Walk to Beach, WiFi, Spacious, Private

(PLEASE NOTE: you may see somewhere on this listing that this property is a 10-minute drive to the beach. It's something the artificial intelligence at VRBO has decided somehow, but it's incorrect! In reality, it's a 5-minute walk from Villa Abejita to the black sands and warm waters of Playa Negra.)

Villa Abejita has plenty of room for family and friends. A large gated property with pool, air conditioning in all bedrooms, lovely garden, covered outdoor dining, workspaces, and wifi. Tropical birds, sloths, and iguanas frequently stop by within the garden walls.


A small grocery store and boutique hotel with restaurant and beach bar are nearby. Shops and dining in Puerto Viejo are just 10 minutes by car or tuktuk, or shed your shoes and take a stunning half-hour walk along the water to town!

This house is very homelike. We live here several months each year, and we love it!

The living room and kitchen share a large open space with vaulted ceilings and ceiling fans. The huge kitchen island has lots of counter space and a counter seating area, so several people can cook and gather at once. We love to cook, so the kitchen is well-equipped with everything you'll need to prepare meals, including cooking oil and spices. Just outside the kitchen door is a covered patio with a gas grill, an outdoor sink, and a large table and chairs for outdoor dining.

There are two workstations in one of the bedrooms, and an additional tall desk that folds out into a standing workstation. We have 50 mb satellite wifi, perfect for digital nomads. Each of our four routers has an uninterruptable power supply in case the electricity goes out (which it does sometimes, for a few minutes--it's the Caribbean!). The smaller workstation desk can be easily moved into a different room if desired.

The bedrooms have new, comfortable mattresses. Each bedroom has its own air conditioner and ceiling fan. Throughout the house, large windows let in plenty of natural light.

The pool is surrounded by a tiled deck, with three fountains cascading water into the pool. A spacious veranda abuts the pool.

We've taken measures to make the house more physically accessible. A concrete ramp leads up the side of the veranda, eliminating the need to climb steps to access the house. Doorways are wide, with no thresholds. Each shower contains a grab bar for added safety, and the bathroom attached to the primary bedroom has a grab bar next to the toilet.

We have secure, off-street parking for up to three vehicles.

The gorgeously landscaped grounds are fully enclosed by high walls, giving a feeling of tranquility, relaxation, and privacy. The mature trees on the property attract sloths, iguanas, toucans, and other jungle creatures. You'll have this whole space to yourself!
