Kupeâs Secret is situated at the southern tip of the North Island in the Wairarapa region, with 200 acres of bush directly behind the bach, adjoining the pristine Aorangi Forest Park. This dark, unspoilt forest forms the heart of our Dark Sky Reserve, offering outstanding night-sky viewing.
Kupeâs Secret features two bedrooms. The first bedroom has a double bed, while the second bedroom includes a double bunk and a single bunk, making it ideal for families or small groups.
A large carport is located on the lighthouse side of the bach, and a sliding door opens onto a front patio.
Just minutesâ walk across the road to the sea and seal colony, which has also been home to a large elephant seal. Boat Bay offers easy launching for smaller fishing boats, and there are numerous opportunities for crayfish and paua diving.
A short stroll takes you to the lighthouse where you can take the 258 steps and be rewarded with yet another breathtaking view, taking in sweeping vistas of the East Coast.
Through the locked gate past the lighthouse and approximately 4km along the coast lies a stone wall and an incredible series of waterfallsâoften described as the spa of all spas.
Heading back toward Ngawi, youâll find the famous Kupeâs Sail and Recreational Reserve, which offers a spectacular walk alongside the Mangatoetoe Stream.
A further 20 minutes north are The Pinnacles, an iconic walk well worth the effort. The return trip takes about 1.5 hours.
