The Neighborhood:

This inviting condo is located in the sought-after Carnelian Woods, an area surrounded by trees with a small stream nearby, allowing you to enjoy beautiful nature and peaceful surroundings right outside your door! Within walking distance from the home, you’ll find an endless network of National Forest trails, perfect for walks, runs, and bike rides in the summertime. A 2-minute drive, or a short walk, takes you to Patton Beach, a dog-friendly beach great for swimming. Near Patton Beach, you’ll discover more entertainment and dining options such as the famous Garwoods Bar and Grill, offering wonderful lakefront dining; CB’s Bistro and Pizza for family dinners; Magic Carpet Mini Golf and Arcade for the little ones; and a 7-11 for all your late-night needs. The beautiful Carnelian West Beach, another excellent swimming spot, is just a few minutes' drive from the home.



In the winter months, you’re only 14 minutes from Northstar, 22 minutes from Alpine Base Area at Palisades Tahoe, and 10 minutes from the Tahoe City Nordic Center, which has a huge network of trails for XC skiing or snowshoeing. The nearby National Forest trails are also ideal for enjoying XC skiing and snowshoeing during the winter. If you prefer a little less physical activity, Tahoe City is just a 12-minute drive west, and Kings Beach is 7 minutes east. Both offer sandy beaches, farmers' markets, major grocery stores, golf courses, boutique shopping, waterfront parks, and a variety of bars and restaurants. A 10-minute drive takes you to the Nevada state line, where you’ll find casinos and concert venues. This home is the perfect launching pad for any Lake Tahoe experience!



Getting Around:

This centrally located home, situated off HWY 28 and within walking distance of two public transportation stops, allows you to comfortably get by without a vehicle. The TART stop at HWY 28 near Sierra Boat Co, less than half a mile from the home, takes you to locations such as Kings Beach. A second TART stop, located at HWY 28 near Old P.O. Coffee Shop, offers a short bus ride to Tahoe City. From there, you can easily connect to other destinations at the Tahoe City Transit Center, including buses to Northstar California Resort. The home is also near a Night Rider bus stop; please note that the Night Rider operates seasonally.



If you have a vehicle, you’ll appreciate the convenience of being close to HWY 28, offering quick access to the surrounding areas. Tahoe City is less than a 15-minute drive away, and you're just minutes from the Nevada state line. Patton Beach is only a 2-minute drive, and Kings Beach is a 7-minute drive away. In the winter, you will be centrally located for skiing, with a 25-minute drive or less to three of the area's top ski resorts: Northstar, Squaw Valley, and Tahoe Nordic Cross Country Center. Tahoe also offers Uber, Lyft, and several taxi services.

Please note that, like most homes in the area, this home does not have A/C.



Please keep in mind that if you plan to ski, you are responsible for verifying the ski resorts' opening and closing dates.



The pool and lap swim are closed for the season and will re-open after Memorial Day 2025, depending on snow and weather. The hot tub is currently open on weekends, with expanded hours planned for ski season. Tennis courts are available seasonally but currently lack lighting, and the lodge is open daily with hours depending on staffing, offering equipment like bocce balls, volleyballs, and an outdoor ping pong area for sign-out. Please note, there is no barbecue area available for renters.



Charcoal grills are strictly forbidden in this county and will result in a $1,500 citation if used.



Please note that the grill is only available in the summer months.



4-wheel drive or 2-wheel drive tires with snow chains may be necessary for safe travel to this property, even if it hasn’t snowed in a few days.

We have stayed at Carnelian Woods before and this was the best condo yet. Clean and set up nicely. Easy access and great location for West shore. Across the street from beach. Packet emailed to us prior. Plus numerous emails with updates. We will be back!

Awful customer service

The biggest problem we encountered was with the property management company. Our 1st morning waking up to take a shower we had to take a lukewarm shower the water temp was between 90-100 degrees max running straight hot water. When you got done with the shower the hot water tank was depleted and started to turn cold. We had to wait 30-45 minutes for the tank to regenerate before taking next shower. I called the management company and they said they would call maintenance. They responded back that these units have small water heaters and are set at a safe temp. to avoid scalding. I have never taken a shower where all I had was lukewarm water when I ran straight hot water. Not true they had a regular 40 gallon water heater so either a element is bad or the temperature setting is set to low. Still no help is on the way if only I had tools I could have gotten the covers off and at least see what the temperature was set at. I finally called VRBO and they called the management company and then he put me on the phone with them. This time they finally agreed to send a plumber out the next day to take a look. I received 3 separate texts during the day of 3 different people on their way to fix the problem. The next morning it was hot water but it took 3 different people to fix the problem so there must have been something wrong with the tank. Next time listen to the customer and at least send someone out to look at it.
