Experience the charm and luxury of historic Lochpatrick Mill, a rare opportunity to stay in this beautifully converted former mill set within peaceful mature gardens and private grounds.
Rich in character yet thoughtfully modernised, this spacious retreat offers a truly unique stay, perfect for relaxing escapes, family gatherings, or exploring the stunning Dumfries & Galloway countryside.
The Mill
Step into a spacious reception hall where you will be excited to experience your first glimpse of the grandeur and historical beauty the mill has to offer.
The hall leads to a light filled open-plan fully equipped kitchen, double dining area and additional sitting area with large sunroom windows looking out to the mill stream, the space is ideal for socialising and unwinding.
Patio doors open out to the gardens, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living with the wonderfully peaceful sounds of birdsong and the gentle stream as it winds it's way past the mill.
A utility room and the ground floor shower room add convenience.
Upstairs is where the mill will absolutely take your breath away, a magnificent historic sitting room with wood-burning stove offers a cosy yet impressive space to relax whilst surrounded by impressive tapestries, original artwork and charming antique rugs, if this incredible space was not enough, a charming mezzanine library overlooking the main sitting room provides a unique and inviting reading nook and the most perfect relaxing escape from everyday life.
Sleeping Arrangements
The property comfortably sleeps up to 8 guests across the main mill and a separate annexe:
Mill Bedrooms
Bedroom One – A truly unique space affectionately known as the Library bedroom, features a super comfortable king size bed nestled perfectly in the traditional library room of the mill.
Boasting hundreds of books, antiques, curiosities and antique rugs, it offers guests a relaxing and spacious room to relax after a fun filled day exploring all our beautiful region has to offer.
Bedroom Two – Another charming bedroom with beamed ceiling, antique furniture and king size bed, a comfortable armchair next to the window enables guests to make the most of the views across the gardens and estate.
Bedroom Three – Boasting a Super King bed for a great night sleep, again with beamed ceiling and charming furniture, this room has French doors leading outside.
Annexe Bedroom - Although separate from the main mill, the annexe is only a few steps away directly across from bedroom three.
An utterly charming double bedroom again beautifully decorated with traditional touches, the annexe benefits from its own en-suite shower room, perfect for added privacy.
Additional rooms
On the first floor of the mill there is also a beautiful space with double desks that can be used either as a dressing table area or alternatively as a dedicated work space, ideal for those who need to keep up to date with emails during their stay.
Bathrooms
The mill features a family bathroom on the first floor with over-bath shower, conveniently located at the entrance to bedrooms two and three.
In addition, a ground floor shower room offers additional bathroom space.
The annexe benefits from its own private en-suite.
Outside Space
Surrounded by large, beautifully maintained mature gardens, guests can enjoy a quiet morning coffee or evening glass of wine on the patio with the sound of the mill stream in the background, a real 'good for the soul' experience.
A private amateur tennis court offers guests the opportunity to hone their tennis skills or indeed experience the joy of tennis for the first time during your stay.
The cherry on top is the small bowling green which leads to hours of fun on warm summer evenings.
Two nearby lochs, just a short walk away, offer complimentary fishing for perch and pike, adding yet another layer to the unique outdoor experiences the mill has to offer.
The Area
Set in a tranquil, secluded location, the mill is just 10 minutes from Castle Douglas, known as “Scotlands Food Town” for its excellent shops, restaurants, and local produce.
The stunning Solway Coast, with its sandy beaches and dramatic cliff walks, is within easy reach, along with scenic walking and cycling routes, charming villages. Renowned golf courses including the Southerness Links course are within driving distance.
