Superficially clean, superficially friendly. Arrived in the PM and was greeted with âwe thought you would be here this AMâ which was odd, because after booking they sent an email inquiring as to my flight, which I gave them.
My non smoking room reeked and had an ash tray next t the bed. In the AM I requested a non smoking room and was offered a room with no window, half the size which I politely refused. When I asked one staff if there were really no other rooms available I was told ânot at that priceâ.
I showed them my booking which also promised a free upgrade âif availableâ and stated I was not spending six more nights in the smoking room and I would request Expedia to cancel/refund the rest of the week (the smoking room was also not âCity Viewâ but I really did not care, but gave me leverage).
Ten minutes later they called and said I could have a room that was being vacated, turned out to be the exact room in the photo of my booking. So great, until two days later staff came to my room, âThe owner requests that you vacate the room, just for one day, to give to another guestâ. I was rather taken aback and replied âThank you, but I am not leavingâ. No further blowback, but the episode was unnerving.
I try to be a good guest, and I understand that Expedia takes 10% of a booking, however should not be treated as a second class citizen. Rooms need a deep cleaning, no cockroaches until the last day. My second room OK at $30/day but not more. Rating should be 7.8 not over 9
