Wahroonga Park is 130 metres from the front door, with a playground, bike track, flying fox, and picnic spaces. The Tamworth Street strip is close by, with an IGA, cafe, pharmacy, and butcher. Short Street Store is a good spot for coffee before a walk through the Dubbo Regional Botanical Gardens and the traditional Shoyoen Japanese Garden.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo is approximately 8 minutes by car — a full day out for families, with wildlife encounters, keeper talks, a waterpark, and the Zoo Cafe & Bar on site.
