Disappointing and Stressful Experience â Bug Bites and Poor Host Communication
The biggest issue with our stay was that we left this property with many bug bites, and we were concerned about bed bugs. When we contacted the host he was reluctant to take any action and was openly hostile. When he finally did involve a pest control company, he told us there was "no evidence of bed bugs" and turned around to bill US for the treatment, saying we made "false claims." However, when I contacted the pest control company he used, they told me that finding no evidence was NOT proof of no bed bugs, and we should continue to treat this situation as a case of bedbugs. As a result, we have had to wash and dry our clothes multiple times and we need to dispose of and replace our luggage and personal items at cost to us. I am still disputing the 250 charge he put on our account with VRBO.Additionally, we found expired and open food in the cupboards, open toiletries, and old scratched unusable pans. We also had planned to have 6 of us staying, but upon arrival it became clear only 4 of us could sleep comfortably, though it's listed as sleeping 7. It is technically possible we could have all stayed but it would have involved squeezing onto a futon and a couch that did not pull out. Two people decided to seek accommodations elsewhere. It should be noted they did not have bug bites at the end of the week, despite participating in the same activities. All in all, would not recommend.
