Welcome to Lightner Creek Canyon just minutes from downtown Historic Durango and <45 min to Purgatory Ski resort.

The secluded and very private estate has plenty of room to hike, bike, or just enjoy the outdoors or better yet cozy by the spectacular stone fireplace while peering out the large living room window to see nature and the beautiful Silver Mountain.

While you are close to the city, you will feel like you are nestled in the mountains. Enjoy the creek as you walk through the willows.
HOUSE RULES:
1. No Smoking or Vaping Inside Home or Near Doorways
2. No Unregistered Overnight Guests
3. No Unregistered Pets
4. Report Any Damages or Issues Immediately
5. Please Remove Outside Footwear When Entering Home (snowboots, cleats, skiboots, etc)

CELLPHONES:

Please note that your cellphone service will probably not work at the house. To use your phone, you will need to set up Wi-Fi Calling. It is best to set up Wi-Fi calling prior to entering Lightner Creek Canyon so that you can use your cellphone once you get to the property. Note, set up Wi-Fi calling in a location that has cell phone service; otherwise, Wi-Fi calling will not be able to be set up once in a non-cell phone location.

TRASH and RECYCING. The Guests shall dispose of all waste material generated during the Lease Term. Trash and recycling are picked up on Monday mornings. Trash cans are located on the South side of the equipment garage lean2 by Lightner Creek. There are bears in the area. Please keep trash lid secured with bungee clasps and do not place at road until Monday morning. *Note* You can recycle cardboard, paper, aluminum, steel cans, and some plastics. DO NOT put glass in recycle bin. If you wish to recycle glass, you can drive it to a drop off site on Technology Blvd. Place trash in container and seal appropriately so bears do not get into trash. All recycles must be placed in the recycle container. DO NOT PLACE trash in the recycle container.

APPLIANCES:
You’re welcome to make use of all the appliances on the property. Here are the instructions/tips:
‱ The oven – Select the bake button that correspond with upper or lower oven, then the choose temperature to heat oven. Keep in mind when cooking that the elevation is 7200 ft. Be sure to hit cancel when you are done cooking. The fan will operate until the temperature lowers.
‱ The microwave – Be sure not to use metal or aluminum foil
‱ The dishwasher – Select level of clean then start and close the door. If you open door during the cleaning operation, select start/resume before closing door.
‱ The washing machine – Located upstairs next to primary bedroom. Be sure to keep washing machine door open when not in use to prevent moldy smells.
‱ The smart TV – There are detailed instructions and more remotes in the drawer to the left of the living room TV.
‱ The hot tub – Plan ahead so the hot tub can heat up to your desired temperature. And always lower the temperature back down when you are done.

5 star rental in Durango! Such a beautiful home! Jim and Courtney are great hosts and very quick to respond to all questions. The house feels very remote but only 10 min from Durango. Perfect location. House is very comfortable and spacious! Hot tub on the deck was perfect after long days outside in the snow. Taylor - property manager- was available as needed and plowed the driveway and decks as needed. It is so nice to have a rental where you can bring your pups but also a fenced area as needed. This property is amazing - piece of heaven! We will definitely be back again soon!

Absolutely spectacular experience, could not have been more pleased with the accommodations and overall setting. The house is amazingly decorated and had everything we needed or could want. We loved being able to sit out on the various patio areas and just relax enjoying the peace and quiet and scenery. The location is very convenient to downtown Durango but far enough away to be more private and peaceful. Mesa Verde National Park is also only a short drive away. We were very impressed with Taylor and how quickly she responded to some very, very minor issues (burned out light bulbs, dead batteries in a remote control, etc.). We would have been fine if nothing had been done but Taylor jumped into action and resolved the issues post haste. We hope to return for another visit in the future and highly recommend this property to anyone anticipating a visit to the Durango area. Fantastic overall experience. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Durango property!

We have stayed at many Durango properties over the years and this is our favorite. 2nd time at this house and it is great- especially if you are traveling with pets. Very well stocked kitchen, pantry and bathrooms. House and grounds are beautiful and a very short drive into town. The creek was pretty low this trip but still beautiful to walk to the bridge . Flowers and outdoor areas are wonderful!

Perfect Place

My husband, two children with their spouses, two grandchildren, ages 6 and 4, and golden retriever, spent a week at this amazing property, for our annual summer week together. Sales Family Getaway

This property is way better than the excellent pictures that are available on VRBO. Beds are amazingly comfortable, hot tub, stocked kitchen, sun rooms, windows, etc! We had a wonderful experience and really regretted having to leave. Thank you for leaving a garage remote, and allowing us use of the garage! Really great touch, and amazing hospitality.

Incredible Mountain Home and Great Hosts

The home looks amazing in the pictures -- but is somehow even better in person. It's incredibly private, but only about 10-15 minutes from the city. There are multiple private hiking areas in the back that we enjoyed daily with our dogs. There's was a great area next to the house to sled with the kid. The backyard and patio are fenced in, so it was easy to let the dogs out at night. The home had everything we needed and more -- it really feels like you're staying in your own home when you're here.The hosts - Jim and Courtney - are great at communicating everything up top and the property manager - Taylor - is super helpful with anything during the stay. We couldn't recommend this place more. We'd love to come back.

A White Christmas

Though Durango had seen above normal temperatures and everyone in town said there should be snow on the ground for Christmas, there was no snow as of Christmas eve, HOWEVER, with the prayers of our children, IT SNOWED for a white Christmas! This was the most beautiful property and the snow made it magical. The hiking on the back hill was beautiful and entertained all ages. There is a hill in the side yard perfect for the kids to sled. The hot tub was a peaceful retreat in the snow. The drive into town is simple and close enough to not feel like time was wasted when we had to make a grocery run. The home was incredibly welcoming and the hosts had obviously paid close attention to detail to ensure we felt at home. Purgatory was an easy drive for skiing, snowboarding, and night time tubing. Hesperus Ski Area has announced that it will not open for 2024 season, fyi. The Durango Silverton Train is a must and I highly recommend First Class, it is worth the money difference.

Stunning property with all the perfect amenities

We absolutely loved our stay and could not have been happier with the location, the amenities, and the solace this place offers. Every day we hiked and explored all over beautiful Durango, Silverton, and Ouray with our pups, and each day we were equally excited to return to the property to cook dinner, relax and just enjoy the surroundings of this property. We joked that we didn't even need to leave and explore to enjoy our vacation (which is rare for us!). We were so happy to have our fur babies with us as we travel and hike everywhere with them, and the property is set up for enjoying time with them (especially with the fenced in patio so we could soak in the hot tub without worrying about any lost/runaway doggos)!

The property has everything you want or need. Well-appointed kitchen and pantry. Large kitchen with 5 burner gas stove. Outdoor eating areas along with fire pit and hot tub. Mountain paradise

The most important thing I can say about this property is they did not oversell it on the description. They may have undersold it. We had so many wonderful times on the patio, drinking g coffee, watching wildlife, seeing storms come in. Communication was awesome and we love their caretakers, Taylor and Cody. My wife and I worked from the little office space in the living room and never had a problem with internet. It is so well appointed and stocked. The technology actually worked.

AMAZING!!! One of the best!

We've been using VRBO for nearly 20 years and this was easily one of the nicest places (including the property) that we've ever stayed at. The custom build house was GORGEOUS!!! The views from the large family room windows and deck area...also GORGEOUS. The owners really ensured that they had virtually anything you needed and in good supply. We were welcomed with a lovely snack basket (and WINE)...who does that! AMAZING. Our favorite part - a well stocked kitchen. My number one observation in a lot of properties is that there is not enough supplies (utensils, cooking dishes, knives...not sharpened knives, etc). This kitchen had everything we needed to bake, smoke meats, basically anything to make a meal. We like to cook, so we really appreciated that this property had it in place and with good quality. We had a great/relaxing vacation and so grateful to property owners like Jim and Courtney to make that happen!
