Epic Mountain Chalet – Jaw-Dropping 180° Views!

★ Private Hot Tub ★ Train Views ★ 10 Min to Downtown Durango ★ 20 Min to Purgatory ★ Perched high above the Animas Valley on a private forested ridge, this stunning modern chalet delivers some of the most dramatic views in all of Durango. Watch the historic Durango–Silverton Narrow Gauge Train wind along the river far below, spot elk crossing the river and deer grazing in the yard, along with some of our bigger friends BEARS and sometimes their cubs, turkey's, foxes, bobcats and once in a while a beautiful bald eagle will fly by the house! Mountain Lions do roam the area but spotting them is very rare. In November/December catch glimpses of the twinkling “North Pole” lights in the valley of Santa's Village which in the main stop of the Polar Express train!

You're only 10 minutes from downtown restaurants and breweries, 5 minutes to the closest grocery store, restaurants and great coffee shops and 5 minutes from Luxury Durango Hot Springs, and 20 minutes from the lifts at Purgatory Resort. This is mountain luxury done right: thoughtful five-star amenities, top-of-the-line bedding, and a 1,000 sq ft deck with hot tub that will make you never want to leave.

We are a 2,887 sq ft home, Air Condition, three floors (the house was built with views from every floor), 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, 2 living rooms and a laundry room.

The Space – Sleeps up to 12 (ideal for 10 adults, including two living rooms, one up-stairs and one downstairs, great for two families who want some privacy from each other.

-Master Loft (upstairs): King bed, cathedral ceilings, skylights, en-suite bath, private reading/yoga nook, floor-to-ceiling north-facing windows with epic Needles Mountain (14K+ in high mountains) and valley views

-Bedroom 2: Queen bed (middle floor) + unbelievable valley & train views

-Bedroom 3: King bed (bottom floor) + en-suite bath + adjacent private living/TV/office area

-Bedroom 4: Two twins (bottom floor) (or converts to king) + incredible valley views

-Downstairs living room (bottom floor): Two additional twins (or converts to king)

-Anywhere in the house we can provide a blowup mattress for guests count 11 & 12, but usually best if kids due to smaller areas available. We will prepare the bed so no concerns of having to hassle in inflating and placing on the linens for your guests.

Great sleep is important when on vacation - High-end mattresses, linens, goose-down pillows & comforters are hotel-luxury quality (duvets laundered after every stay).

Indoor Living - (second floor) kitchen, dining room (seating for 10) and living room area with big screen TV and amazing views out the windows that you can stare at all day long watching thunderstorms approaching or better yet in the winter the white cap mountains!!

Washer and Dryer - (bottom floor) jumbo size washer and dryer in its own private room.

Sonos wireless sound system throughout

High-speed Wi-Fi, modern desk workspace, board games, puzzles and game room in the garage with ping pong, basketball double hoop competitive game, dart board, throwing axe and stars game and cornhole! During the colder months this game activity may be limited, but no concerns as we also provide sleds to use on the hillside and road when snow is present, you can also pull your friends or have your best pet friend to enjoy riding on the sleds!

We provide a telescope and binoculars for incredible star gazing and wildlife spotting!

We provide outside lounge chairs to watch and enjoy the outside games above along with beautiful star gazing!

Outdoor Living (the Real Star of the property!) ~1,000 sq ft deck with panoramic 180° views of the Animas Valley, Animas River, red cliffs, and the Needles Mountains. At night, enjoy the best stargazing experience you have ever had in your life, watching falling stars, shooting comets, the big and little dipper clear as ever before and satellites moving across the sky, including the Starlink satellites which move in a group of ~75 count and you can see up to 5 minutes. Check the Starlink website out for flyover schedule.

6–8 person private hot tub (available year-round), no other hot tub has better views in the area!

Luxury patio seating with a couch and chairs next to the gas fire-pit with blankets for cozy evenings (if snow is on the deck we may cover and store on the deck, but if weather permits, we try to have it available for usage, ask me if available near your arrival in the winter)

Multiple seating/dining areas for 10 (furniture stored in winter), enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine at our bar for two with awesome views)

Fully Stocked Gourmet Kitchen Bosch stainless appliances, dishwasher, coffee maker, dining table for 10, supply of coffee, sugar, creamer, oil, spices – everything you need on day one.

Little Luxuries we provide (so you don’t have to pack them) High-end shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, stain remover, dryer sheets, foil, saran wrap, sandwich and storage bags. We provide a nice steamer for those clothes which may get a little wrinkled during your travels.

For the little ones - we provide an infant and toddler high-chair along with a pack-n-play, bouncer, infant bathtub, changing pad with some toys.

Laundry baskets - we provide two for each room so you don't have to throw your dirty clothes on the floor and have something to carry your clothes to the laundry room.

Luggage racks, dressers, closet space - we provide two for each room, so you have some place to lay your luggage and store your clothes including closet space with hangers.

Spa towels for the hot tub + outdoor blankets for the fire pit

Parking & Access - Two outdoor spaces provided in front of the garage doors and two outdoor spaces next to the side of the garage. Note, the garage is converted into a game room and not available for parking.

Winter note (late Nov – late Feb): The last 0.5 mile is a steep, paved private road, with two switchbacks, (please take wide turns). 4WD/AWD strongly recommended; chains or snow tires may be required during/after heavy storms. Our private snowplow comes once we reach 3" of snow. You can always buy chains at the locals stores and return them unused.

Important House Rules - No smoking anywhere on the property (indoors or outdoors) – strict fire danger, no events or parties (daytime guests count cannot exceed nighttime guests count, so for every nightly guest staying at the property you can one day guest visiting, exceptions can be made if discussed and approved with me. You can have up to two pets ($100 per pet per stay) If you would like a third pet, please reach out to me for consideration. We provide a dog bed and food and water bowls for your best friend!

Great, privately located house with million dollar views! We absolutely loved the large attached deck with what must be the largest hot tub on the market. A fantastic place to socialize and eat while enjoying the outdoors and fantastic views. We could have spent all day out there. But the house is just as nice. The two living areas (upstairs and down) make it great for a large group to spread out. The kitchen is well stocked and had what seemed like new appliances. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms all look recently updated. There is a/c in every room so it's a perfect house for the summer. It is only a 7 minute drive into Durango. So while you felt you were in a remote location, everything Durango offered is right at your finger tips. And if you need something to keep the kids entertained (or adults who can't relax), the garage is filled with games to keep anyone busy for hours. It is a very comfortable house that is well maintained and decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend it to others.

This is such a wonderful property and our family of six thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We started and ended each day on the outside deck and appreciated the expansive view of the valley and surrounding area. Most notably, the nighttime sky lights up and the property is remote enough to offer excellent conditions for stargazing. Robert is very responsive, and the home was well equipped for our stay. He provides all the necessary items to ensure a hassle-free experience. There was plenty of room for our family and we enjoyed the game room, hot tub and outside fire pit. We appreciate the attention to detail and highly recommend this property. It is perfectly situated and allows easy access to downtown Durango and the surrounding area.

We had a wonderful time with our two families (each with two adults and two kids). Communication leading up to our stay and during our stay was prompt and instructions were clear. The property has stunning views and we chose to spend most of our nights cooking/grilling and eating on the porch. The kids loved the “garage arcade” with ping pong, axe throwing and basketball. There was plenty of space for both of our families! The commute to town was short and gave us access to so many local attractions. We would love to stay here again!

Great location, lovely home!

Our group really enjoyed this stay! Some of the highlights were the huge deck, the large hot tub, the garage games, and the VIEW!! We also really appreciated the equipped kitchen. It was nice to not have to buy or bring every little thing. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect Colorado Getaway

Our week stay at this property was perfect! The communication with the property manager/owner was always great. Wonderful views from all parts of the house, great elevated porch with hot tub and fire table. A plus was the provided supplies like garbage bags, paper towels, spices, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toilet paper and laundry supplies. This made our grocery trips quite a bit easier. Located on a very private, quiet street, I think we saw 1 person during our stay. Close to downtown Durango, and Mesa Verde National Park and a couple hours from Telluride and Ouray but the drive is so beautiful you will enjoy every second. Nice walking paths on the Animas river. I can’t think of anything negative about this property.

Soooo Good

This is our second year to stay here and we love it so much. The owners are very nice and super attentive. The house is well stocked and spacious and the views from the deck are amazing. It is an easy drive to town or the mountain. Totally worth it.

Outstanding property & owner

Outstanding, complete, and timely communication. Very clean. Everything just as pictured. Very nicely maintained. Had one maintenance issue to address (not anything that could be predicted) and the owner could not have addressed this any more quickly - just handled it in superb fashion. Excellent location just north of town but close enough to town so that it's really convenient. The only potential issue for anyone visiting would be that if there is winter weather is very inclement during the stay, the long, relatively steep gravel road/driveway might be intimidating to some renters. Overall 5 stars out of 5.
