Life seems to slow down at The Steel Nest - a place of quiet forests, endless stars, and fireside nights on your own private mountaintop. Breathe deep and slow down; you've found the perfect spot to recharge and reconnect.
Follow the long, winding driveway to this hidden sanctuary. Whether you're seeking a quiet getaway together or a solo recharge, The Steel Nest is designed to help you unwind.
- Windows throughout the cabin blur the line between indoors and out, bringing the surrounding forest right into your living space. Set on over 10 private acres, you wonât see another home - just trees, sky, and stillness.
- The living area invites you to slow down, with cozy seating gathered around a Morso wood stove and peaceful views in every direction. Itâs the kind of space where mornings linger and evenings feel especially calm.
- Radiant heated floors extend throughout the home, creating a gentle, consistent warmth that adds an extra layer of comfort in every season.
- Indoor and outdoor living flow seamlessly here. Step onto the screened porch, unwind by the outdoor fireplace, or slip into the hot tub tucked privately among the trees.
- The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, whether youâre cooking a full meal or just starting your day - complete with cookware, pantry basics, and both Keurig and drip coffee options.
- A handcrafted live-edge dining table creates the perfect spot for shared meals, slow breakfasts, or a cozy game night.
- A half bath on the main level opens to a seasonal outdoor shower (typically closed November through March), offering a refreshing, nature-filled experience.
- Just outside, a propane grill makes outdoor cooking simple and enjoyable.
Upstairs, the cabinâs two bedrooms offer a restful retreat:
- Primary Suite: A king-size bed with hotel-quality linens, soaring wood-beamed ceilings, and walls of windows that let you wake up with the trees. A small sitting area and Roku TV (the only TV in the cabin) complete the space.
- Second Bedroom: A peaceful room with a queen-size bed, soft natural light, and the same attention to comfort and detail.
Full Bathroom: Located between the bedrooms, this space features heated tile floors, dual sinks, and a walk-in rainfall shower. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided.
What We Provide & What to Bring:
Weâve stocked the cabin with essentials to make your stay comfortable from the moment you arrive, including linens, towels, paper products, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Youâll also find starter coffee supplies (K-cups, creamer, and sugar) along with a selection of basic pantry staples.
For longer stays, you may want to bring additional supplies to suit your needs, but whatâs provided will comfortably get you started and often lasts through a long weekend or more. If you plan to enjoy the indoor wood stove or outdoor fireplace, please bring your own firewood.
A Note on Comfort & Mountain Living:
The cabin is designed to embrace its natural surroundings, with no air conditioning by intention. Thanks to the elevation, surrounding forest, and walls of windows, the space stays comfortably cool for most guests - even on warmer days - while evenings bring in crisp, refreshing mountain air.
This is a place to open the windows, listen to the sounds of nature, and experience the rhythm of warm days and cool nights. If you enjoy fresh air and a more connected, natural environment, youâll feel right at home.
For those who prefer consistently cold, climate-controlled temperatures (especially for sleeping), this setting may not be the ideal fit. Here, comfort comes from the mountain breeze, not the thermostat.
To ensure The Steel Nest is the perfect fit for your getaway, please review the following details about the cabin's unique character:
- Embrace Nature: There are no window coverings in the cabin, allowing you to wake up with the natural light and fall asleep under the stars.
- Hot Tub: We drain and refill the hot tub between each stay for cleanliness. It may take until the evening of your arrival for the water to reach its target temperature of approximately 102 degrees.
- Mountain Air: The cabin does not have air conditioning. The cool mountain air and evening breezes typically keep the space comfortable, but please be aware that it can get warm on summer afternoons.
- Unplug & Connect: There is no TV in the main living area to encourage connection and relaxation. The only TV is located in the primary bedroom.
- Cozy Acoustics: The open design means sound carries between floorsâperfect for conversation, but something to keep in mind for your group's privacy.
OUTDOOR CAMERA: There is an outdoor camera facing the parking area as well as a trail cam at the entrance gate. They are on 24/7 and can record video and sound.
