Built in the 1940s, The Special House is a charming original fisherman’s cottage updated with modern comforts and a unique design. The space has a fully equipped kitchen featuring shou sugi ban cabinetry, reverse cycle air conditioning (for both cooling and heating), an outdoor shower and a purpose built brick BBQ for cooking over fire. The place features artfully curated materials and vintage furniture, sourced with sustainability in mind.

The master bedroom has a king sized bed with a premium Ecosa mattress and luxurious French flax linen bedding. The windows look out to the private garden which features two huge gum trees providing beautifully dappled morning light.

The sunroom features two daybeds that catch the afternoon warmth. For family bookings the two daybeds are prepared as beds with full linens to comfortably sleep two children.

The kitchen has been hand built, featuring the Japanese shou sugi ban technique. It’s a chef’s kitchen and a delight to cook in. Guests can pick from our small herb garden to use in cooking - parsley, basil, thyme, Tuscan kale, rosemary, chives, oregano and more.

The lounge room has an extra large and ultra comfortable couch - relax with a good book, chill out with music or take a nap. The daybed can comfortably sleep a third child.

The home has Bluetooth speakers and a record player, as well as a small projector for watching movies (guests can use personal hotspot from their phones, the place doesn’t have WiFi).

The house has a north facing, covered patio with outdoor dining and two deck chairs. It’s perfect for alfresco living, dining and relaxing day and night..

There is also a brick BBQ with various cooking options. We provide wood and charcoal for cooking over fire, or in the small pizza oven. For easy outdoor cooking, there is a dual butane cooker that get going at the flick of a switch.

Our lawns are a work in progress, but the small private garden has plenty of light, shade and privacy. This is our quaint coastal holiday home which we continually work on and improve, and we’re happy to share it with you.
