Welcome to La Cachette Florale — The Floral Hideaway.

Just 65 miles from San Francisco, this private retreat rests on 22 secluded acres, yet remains within walking distance to downtown Forestville, where you can access the Joe Rodota Trail along with beloved local restaurants and wineries. Often called the gateway to the Russian River Valley, this storied region is renowned for its world-class wineries, pristine natural beauty, and exceptional food.

The Russian River itself lies less than ten minutes away, offering idyllic days of canoeing, kayaking, and quiet exploration. Closer to home, you may find yourself lingering beside the pool, overlooking vineyard rows and wooded hills as the light shifts across the landscape. The estate’s grand architecture and surrounding stone walls reflect its rustic beauty, while the interiors have been thoughtfully restored and curated to honor that same timeless character.

La Cachette Florale is also home to a small working flower farm, where seasonal blooms are grown and shared with local restaurants and offered at the farm stand near the back entrance to the property. Guests are welcome to wander, explore, and experience this living landscape at their own pace.

The living space

The 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath house has been under renovation since it was purchased in 2023 after sitting empty for years. This has been a deeply hands-on restoration - repairing, rebuilding, and tending to the land piece by piece. While much has been restored, the property remains an ongoing vision, continuing to grow and transform over time.

The heart of the home is the chef’s kitchen, featuring marble countertops, an eight-burner stove, and generous bar seating that invites gathering and conversation. Fully stocked and designed for both everyday comfort and elevated entertaining, it flows effortlessly into the surrounding living spaces. The dining room offers an elegant setting for shared meals, while the living room provides a spacious yet inviting place to relax beneath high ceilings that enhance the home’s sense of openness and light. A dedicated media and library room creates a cozy retreat for quiet evenings, films, or reading, and the charming breakfast nook offers a peaceful place to begin the day. Together, these spaces balance scale and intimacy, creating an environment that feels both grand and cozy.

The primary bedroom is a private sanctuary set at one end of the home, thoughtfully positioned away from the central gathering areas. High vaulted ceilings and a wall of windows overlook the pool and surrounding vineyards, filling the space with natural light and expansive views. A king-size bed anchors the room, while a private balcony offers a quiet place to step outside and take in the landscape. The suite also includes a large walk-in closet and a spacious en-suite bathroom featuring dual showers and sinks, a two-person jacuzzi tub, and a bidet—creating a retreat designed for comfort, privacy, and relaxation.

The home’s three additional bedrooms offer comfort, privacy, and flexibility for guests. One bedroom features a queen-size bed and its own private bathroom. Another offers a king-size bed and access to a spacious shared bathroom. Upstairs, a charming queen size bed with its own half bathroom provides a peaceful, tucked-away space ideal for guests seeking a bit more separation. Each room has been thoughtfully prepared, with comfort in mind, to ensure a restful and welcoming stay.

Abundant outdoor seating areas, olive trees , vines, pool, BBQ , fire pit, Koi Pond and dining under the stars all inspire outdoor living at La Cachette. As you explore the grounds you’ll find many areas to relax and unwind.

General Information

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The Maximum Capacity is 8 (unless previously approved). On-site parking is permitted for a maximum of 6 vehicles. RV’s, trailers and campers are prohibited.

A Note About our Cleaning Fee: Thank you for supporting our local business! When you stay with us, you are supporting local families at work. We think everyone deserves a decent living wage in beautiful Sonoma County. The cleaning fee goes directly to the cleaners and inspectors for their hard work in making sure our guests have a wonderful and welcoming space to enjoy during their stay.

Caretaker: The caretaker lives on the property. They are very respectful of the guests privacy, however, they have been instructed to report any gatherings that exceed the maximum occupancy or any other guest activity that is in violation of our rules, potentially dangerous or damaging to the property.

Rural Property: La Cachette is a rural property. We believe these things are all part of the natural beauty of this place and we are surrounded by undeveloped forest that is home to many plants and animals . Guests should be prepared to encounter spiders, ants, poison oak, blackberry thorns, lizards, deer, snakes, yellow jackets, bees, and the chorus of frogs at night. Occasionally there have been sightings of Mountain Lions, Coyotes, Bobcats, and Foxes- we have never had a problem with any of these but you should be aware and do not approach them. The grounds can also be uneven , slippery, muddy, or steep - make sure you watch your step.. While the home and grounds are well-maintained and comfortable this is still a rustic rural property - We recommend never leaving food or trash by the pool , fire pit or other outside areas unattended. This helps us insure that pests don’t get out of hand. Being a rural property the use of the septic system requires conscientious care- never put anything but toilet paper into our system.

Children: Children are permitted at this rental but must be supervised at all times. Parents of young children should be especially aware of the elevation changes on the property. The 12 foot retaining wall above the pool, The decks, the many steps, the pool itself and the rural nature of this place.

Fire Awareness: There is a risk of wildfires in rural Sonoma County, as with all of California. Use of the indoor fireplace is not permitted. The use of the outdoor fire pit is permitted but please be aware of the nearby hose location and keep the fire small and covered to contain sparks as much as possible. Make sure the fire is completely out before going in for the night.

Cell Phones: Please be aware that certain carriers don’t get great reception in this area. We do offer WiFi but this can also be spotty due to the surrounding hills in the area.

Exterior Cameras: For the safety and security of the guests and the home, the property is monitored by Blink security cameras. Any attempt to turn off, damage, disrupt, or remove these devices will lead to fines and/or eviction without refund.

LIABILITY: Guests agree to indemnify and hold harmless the homeowner, and their agents from any loss or personal injury suffered by vacationer or their guests or invitees in relation to the rental of the vacation home including , But not limited to, the use of recreational amenities such as pool or jacuzzi tub, use of grounds, walkways and elevation changes, or stairs. Guests shall immediately inform the owner upon learning of any unsafe or hazardous conditions.
