One concern we did have was the black markings that were on the ceiling mainly in the kitchen area. We weren't sure what it was, mold, grease or something else. The sliding glass door didn't have a handle on the outside. Really wasn't a big deal for us but a family with kids might have issues. Overall, it was a clean comfortable condo we would stay in again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: After a delay in arriving to Fort Walton due to road work throughout the 12 hr trip I received a call that our room was ready early. We were very happy about this and were extremely satisfied with our room. This is the 3rd time in the last 3 years coming to the area each time staying at a different location. We have booked using the resort building owner, a hotel, and also used vrbo. I can honestly say booking a hotel has been our least favorite. There are both advantages and disadvantages to all but it is nice to know that you can find a wonderful place to stay through vrbo. It is a great option that we will use again. I would like to thank the owners of the condo and Brooks and Shorey for an awesome stay.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our building/room was in a great location! Right on the beach with beautiful views. It’s a quaint one bedroom with bunks in the hall for the kids. Overall, it met our needs perfectly for the week. However, I do feel it needs some attention. The kitchen/appliances are outdated. Cracks in the walls, popcorn ceiling was peeling in places, the bathroom tub/shower appears to be the original since that building was built and it shows. It would also be helpful if some standards are included- such as dish soap, coffee filters, trash bags, etc. I know it was suggested we bring our own but for the cost of a week’s stay during a peak season, these are amenities that many other places include without expecting renters to provide.

Reviewer Comments: Booked a last minute extended weekend in Fort Walton Beach. Was a little worried, as I usually plan these things months in advance. This was my first time using Brooks & Shorey and my first stay at Gulf Dunes. Very pleased with the entire experience from start to finish. The management personnel was on-site, so I didn't have to roam around looking for their office. The lady who checked me in could not have been more helpful! She explained everything to me in detail and even provided me with directions to local markets. The condo was extremely clean, affordable and beachfront - which was the best part! Unfortunately, mother nature did not cooperate, but it was still nice to get away! The amenities were awesome ... free umbrella/chair set up (which usually costs about $25 a day, free movie rental, golf, etc. I am already thinking about when I can get back to the beach, and would recommend Gulf Dunes to anyone looking for a place to vacation in Fort Walton!
