High above the Allegheny River, in the emerging resort village of Foxburg, Pennsylvania, step back in time to a comfortably appointed 200-year-old log cabin. The backyard begins at the edge of a 300' bluff overlooking a seasonal view of the river. The front yard ends at the fairways of the first golf course built in the United States: the Foxburg Country Club.
The cabin is 700 square feet, sleeps three-four, with maximum occupancy set at four. There is a queen bed in the one bedroom and a full-size futon in the living room. The kitchen is large for the space, as the home was once the servants’ quarters for the mini-mansion next door.
The bed and bath are accessed by 14 narrow stair steps to the second floor. The bedroom is also spacious for the house. The bathroom, unfortunately, is tight. There is a sink, shower and toilet. Indoor plumbing was not a thing in the 1820s. In the ensuing centuries, successive owners have done their best to accommodate the changing times. Your understanding is appreciated.
Modern amenities include central heat/AC, WI-FI, TVs (Netflix, hulu, etc.) electric range with air fryer, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and Keurig K coffee machine with assorted flavor pods, along with dishes, pots, pans, vintage flatware and common utensils.
First Aid supplies and fire extinguishers are in the kitchen pantry, along with additional fire extinguishers in the upstairs closets. There are combo smoke alarm/CO detectors throughout.
Extra towels and toiletries are in the bathroom linen closet. Extra sheets, bedding and pillows are in the left-side bedroom closet.
Standard cleaning and safety practices between guests include independent guest check in/out, all high-touch surfaces disinfected, thorough floor cleaning and dusting throughout, linen, towels and dishes washed at 140 degrees F.
There is ample off-street parking for two passenger vehicles in the garage driveway. However, we can offer no garage use or access. On the drive in, you will see that the area is almost unbelievably serene and picturesque. Please respect that and allow for the closeness of our neighbors.
Just minutes away are golf, tasty brunch or casual fine dining, concert hall, art gallery/museum, winery, banquet venue and the spectacular forests, rivers and lush scenery of northwestern Pennsylvania.
Additional restaurants, fuel, laundry, grocery, pharmacy, craft brewery, hometown tavern, beer distributor and other specialty shops are four miles up the river in Emlenton, which is about two miles from Exit 42 on Interstate 80.
