Highlights

You'll feel right at home in this 3-bedroom Morgantown beach house. La Casita is located on a quiet cul de sac with easy access to the beach boardwalk, both pools and tennis courts. At one end of the street is one of two neighborhood pools and at the other end, you'll find the beach access boardwalk. The best of both worlds!

The Space

The comfortable living/dining room features a sofa and an oversized papasan chair, just perfect for reading, watching TV or even catnapping. There is a dining table, that seats 6, as well as counter seating so there's room for all at mealtime.

Two decks, one in the front and one in the back, offer a limited gulf view and plenty of outdoor seating.

All three of the bedrooms are located on the upper level in this home. The master bedroom features a queen bed, a private bath and balcony access. There is another queen-sized bed in the second bedroom and a twin over full bunkbed and a twin bed in the third.

Fort Morgan & Morgantown

Morgantown is a lovely, unique seaside community featuring two swimming pools, a kiddie pool, two lighted tennis/pickleball courts and several beach access boardwalks. When you first arrive, you'll notice pride of ownership in this pastel colored, beautifully landscape neighborhood. Guests really enjoy walking and biking along the quiet streets and many rent golf carts and enjoy sunset drives. If you have small children or just prefer the convenience of parking close to the beach, there is a public lot just to the west of Morgantown.

Located a scenic 15 miles from Gulf Shores, you'll find everything you need close at hand. Dollar General and Sassy Bass Market are just a few miles away and have all the basics you might need. There are several restaurants nearby offering a variety of tasty dishes. Tacky Jack's, Sassy Bass (2 locations), Coast and brand-new Jesse's (opening soon) to name a few. Some venues even offer live, local entertainment.

Fort Morgan fishing pier is now open, and anglers will have access to convenient inshore fishing and the abundant species locally available.

Be sure and visit nearby Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge with over 7,000 acres of coastal habit. You'll be able to hike through the preserve and observe local flora and fauna. There are 4 trails, varying in size and terrain, and you'll definitely want to make time to visit this natural oasis.

Great time!

We had a great time! The house itself was clean. The pots and pans were really rough and hard to cook with. As soon as I mentioned it to the owner & property management, and sent some pics, they immediately ordered and had delivered a very nice new set for us to have and they were wonderful to use for cooking breakfast and the couple nights we cooked dinner. Overall we had a wonderful time and would stay here again! One of the biggest things that stuck out to me that made the trip so great was the communication with the owner and management and how they were so polite and always making sure everything was good for our stay. The only suggestion I might make as far as improving something is maybe updating the main couch in the living room. We did use the sleeper sofa and it was what you would expect so no worries on that but the couch itself was a bit worn for sitting on it and felt like you were always caving in because it was worn. But honestly we were not in The house that much anyways so it really wasn’t a big deal.

Overall- ok

Initial impression was not very good. The property had clearly not been cleaned as one would expect. All the linens were clean but the property had clearly NOT been vacuumed and swept. Food stuck to cabinets, floor covered in sand, carpets not vacuumed. The location was great and the overall experience was good just stinks to pay a cleaning fee and then have to clean when you get there.

Quiet Beach Getaway

Home is very close walking distance to property gate beach. We didn’t use any amenities, so I can’t really speak to that. The house was as pictured and the property manager was friendly.

This is a cute house with tons of possibilities with some upgrades. The location in proximity to the beach is excellent. Morgantown is an incredibly quiet neighborhood. We encountered a few issues which the rental agency responded to in a timely manner. None of the outlets in the bathrooms were working and they weren't GFIs so they could be reset. We could not find the fuse box. The maintenance man showed us it was behind a bedroom door. We offer these suggestions in a purely constructive way because we did enjoy our time together at the beach and we made do. There were four of us who are retired teachers. There needs to be more living room seating-maybe an additional loveseat. One of the papisan chairs was gone. There aren't nearly enough pots and pans for cooking -we were there a week and only ate out once. We planned to cook and we did. The mattresses definitely need to be upgraded. The lock on the door to the lower deck needs some lubricating as it was difficult to open and close. The kitchen faucet was spraying water out one side. These are pretty simple fixes. Again, these are meant to be constructive suggestions and we did enjoy our week at the beach tremendously.

Great beach house!

The house was clean, plenty of towels and linens. Check in was easy. Parking was roomy. Accommodated 3 cars with no problem. Beach and pool were both close and the walk to both was easy.

Gulf Shores

The house was beautiful and we enjoyed the view of the ocean while on the balcony, I do feel as though the clean up crew does not properly clean the property. There was sand in the bed from the previous guest I assume, strands of hair on the shower walls and the toilets were not cleaned. But we appreciate that we had somewhere to stay at a reasonable rate😊

Serene Quiet Rental Retreat

Pros: Serene location, quiet and quaint community. Away from the hustle and bustle of town but only 20-25 minutes to find fun things to do. Easy “check-in” with the key code access. Loved having the ceiling fans! Plenty of towels for the visit and having a washer and dryer was such a treat! We had instructions for setting the trash can out but someone took care of it for us and took ours to the road. Just enough toiletries to get the week started, it was nice having a jump start. Cons: This was the first time I have rented “outside” of VRBO. That process was ALOT of extra steps that was different than any other rental. I was almost hesitant at first because they wanted my card information over the phone and a lot of extra paperwork to have signed. It was difficult to keep all my information together since it wasn’t on the app or to know what all had been done and completed/paid for. Oil riggers visible across the entire horizon, counted over 13. Totally a necessary thing to have, but definitely obstructs a near perfect sunset. Very few shells at this beach. Other beach goers leave their canopies and belongings all week blocked a great deal of the real estate along the beach directly by the public access point. Kitchen was lacking baking pans which was addressed after we left. The oven was in need of a good clean, when we first used it, smoke filled the house and all the windows in the kitchen were locked and we could not figure out how to open them. Be cautious of the thermostat!!! When we first arrived, there was a very ominous sign stating to not set the thermostat below 72* or “WE” the renter would be responsible for the damage “we” caused. The thermostat was set on 68* before we arrived. This was upsetting that we could have been held responsible for something before our arrival and we had no proof. The MASSIVE cockroach from the previous review is still very much alive and well in the silverware drawer. We tried to be heros and take down the beast but he was very elusive. Be cautious of the burs embedded in the rugs/carpet from the plants outside, my husband stepped on one and it stuck firmly in his foot. Bed was tolerable, VERY firm and well worn. We tested the other bed in the other room and it was very hammocked in the center but slightly softer. Windows could have used a good clean, we opened the blinds to let the sun in and they were covered in so much salt that we could not see out of them.

Our 2022 Stay at Fort Morgan

We love the Morgantown community. We love it for several reasons but most of all, we love it since it's less commercialized than Gulf Shores. The home we rented was fine, however the property could benefit from some updates being done. The carpet needs to be replaced. The walls could use a good painting... especially upstairs. Better deck furniture would be a plus. Something had been spilled all over the little door in the half bath that had never been cleaned up. You could tell some neighbor owners may have more pride in their rentals. Overall, the place was decent and I'm thankful my family and I had a place to stay at the beach.
