Wunderschönes Ferienhaus in den Bergen mit toller Aussicht

Wir hatten eine unglaublich schöne Zeit in diesem tollen Haus. Es hat einen tollen Balkon auf dem man morgens das Frühstück genießen kann. Um von dem Haus flexibel zu sein, ist es ratsam sich ein Auto zu mieten. Wir können es nur weiter empfehlen!

beautiful house in a unique location

We immediately fell in love with this house for the following reasons: there's plenty of room in an awesome open space architecture. It is fully equipped with everything you need and everything that makes you feel at home. And the most important aspect for us: the location of this property just makes it one of a kind! Surrounded by coffee plants and rich flora in a higher and therefore somewhat cooler region at the mountain, it combines a wonderful environment far away from any traffic with a terrific ocean view from the porch. Apart from that, service was also great: property manager Chaundra is very helpful and responsive. We would love to come back to this house on our next Hawaii trip.

Perfect place to relax after a great day in the sun

We stayed here with six people (me, my wife, our three sons, and a friend) and it worked well for us. Everything was clean and nothing was sticky, which oddly enough seems to happen a lot, especially near an ocean. My wife is very particular about cleanliness and often asks housekeepers to do a second job because things are not clean. This house was not like that. The house is about 1800 feet above sea level so it’s cooler than the beach. This was always nice after a sunny day snorkeling or playing in the sand. Often it was a little cloudy up in the hills but we had some beautiful sunsets as well. The little town, which is three minutes from the house, is very cute and has a couple of great places to get coffee and some treats as well as art and boutique stores. We had an issue with the stove but the owner was very responsive and had a new one installed within a day. We cooked several dinners and enjoyed the grill as well. The view of the ocean is nice but it’s a little obstructed by some trees in the neighbors yard. You can still see it but not quite as good as the pictures. The property manager was great and very responsive with our questions and requests. I highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a comfortable, relaxing stay near Kailua-Kona.

Perfect mountain retreat

Having never been to the big island I wasn’t sure what to expect with booking a Vrbo but this place exceeded all my expectations. It is off the beaten path, located up the mountain nestled between farms with beautiful views. The directions to get there can be a little tricky but once you’ve done it it is very easy and intuitive. Inside the house was clean and well kept. The kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils and supplies, the beds and towels were all fresh. The living room and porch are the highlights, as they make for a fantastic hang out space after a long day of touring the island. I felt welcome and would recommend this home to anyone looking for a Kona retreat.

A good base for the Kailua-Kona area

For six adults, a 3 year old and two toddlers, the place was perfect. Roomy, comfortable, and quiet. (and dark, for the star gazers in the crowd). The outdoor deck area was perfect for relaxing. Being "up the hill" from the coast the day/night temperatures were about ten degrees (F) cooler. This made for very pleasant evenings/nights. Air conditioning was not missed and, if needed, there were numerous fans available. All the beach equipment we needed (towels, toys, umbrellas, and two folding chairs) were available for use. This meant we lacked nothing for our beach excursions with children. A nice, unexpected bonus. Having arrived on a night flight locating the property in the dark was easy following the directions provided (and Google Maps). The big surprise was the driveway DOWN to the property. Our party had two mini-vans and the right turn onto the driveway and the subsequent drive down in the pitch dark were "interesting". The following morning showed the driveway was much shorter than it seemed the night before. I would suggest folks staying here take the driveway sloooowly, up and down to prevent potentnially damaging their (rental) car. (Jeeps, trucks, no problem) A great place to stay.

Great place to stay!

Spacious and very clean. Great views for breakfast on the deck. Only 10 minutes out of Kona and a great coffee shop was located just down the road from the house. We really enjoyed coming back to the house at the end of the day and enjoying some quiet time outside of the city.

Amazing house - gorgeous view

The house was amazing - definitely a great place to relax and spend time as a family. The patio was my favorite place. We ate all our meals out there. This was the best stocked kitchen of any of the houses that we have rented. So much attention to detail. They even had Christmas dishes. Three suggestions: muffin tins, beach chairs and a small cooler. Not anything we expected but those are literally the only things we could have used that wasn't there. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us! P.S. The driveway was steep but very doable. We were in a Tahoe and didn't have any problems at all.

This home is nothing short of amazing. My husband and I want out kids to experience actual island life, not just a vacation at a resort. Kraig has made this home the perfect place to do this. We had stunning sunset dinners on the deck and wonderful mornings relaxing on the oversized couches sipping our coffee. If you are going to be here for a 1st Friday, the local town opens up in the evening with great local food and entertainment. The small town store is stocked with everything you may need for you stay. And the coffee shop is great to grab a quick morning bite and wonderful pastry options, the banana bread coffee cake is a Must Try. While this home is set up to relax in living room and watch TV, we really didn't even use it, even the kids preferred being outside relaxing on the deck playing Tic Tac Toe. Kraig has done a fabulous job making this a great place to visit and enjoy the true island life. Bonus you are only 15 minutes away from the most popular tour attractions and nightlife if you desire to do those on your trip. I would recommend an SUV if you are renting a vehicle for your stay, as steep is a very conservative description on the driveway. Overall this property was far more than we imagined and the pictures really do it no justice. Mahalo, Kraig for all of the great communication before and during our stay.

Among the coffee plantations

Great house, perfect for our family stay during our celebration of marriage. Kitchen and grill worked out super well as we had most meals there. A little far from “civilization” as my wife said which can be good or bad depending on your perspective. It’s up high, giving great views. It’s up high meaning that it rains a lot even though you can see the Sun on the water! Overall, a great place to stay among the coffee plantations near Kona.

Hawaiian Country Life

You are living as a local would with this property. It is ˜1700 feet up so you could always see the ocean. It was much more peaceful with less traffic than down in Kona. We found it an effective basecamp for expeditions all over the Big Island. However it is only 12 minutes from Kona, so going in to eat was convenient if desired. The elevation stabilized the temperature so it did not get too hot and it was always enjoyable to eat out on the patio. The patio with its double sliding doors also created a play space for my 6 year old grand daughter where she could be active without waking up the rest of the house - besides mom or dad - when the doors were closed! :)

Amazing views and beautiful home/property!

This was a perfect home for our family to stay at while visiting the Big Island! The home is gorgeous, clean, has amazing views, well-kept property, and the property manager Chaundra was amazing! She was extremely prompt with replying to any questions, and so friendly. When we couldn’t figure out the lock, she arrived within minutes to solve the problem. The pictures online are beautiful, but in-person the home was even better! We loved unwinding at this peaceful home after spending our days playing at the beautiful beaches. We’d give this home 6 stars if we could!

Perfect Christmas vacation spot for our family

This is a beautifully appointed home - exactly and even better than advertised. The kitchen is outfitted with everything a cook could want. It was first Christmas for our 12 week old grandson and he loved gazing at the lights on the tree that the host had set up for our stay. It's a bit of a drive to some of the resorts, but also nice to have the spaciousness of a home away from all the commercialism. The property manager was very responsive when contacted and we felt absolutely comfortable. Highly recommend.

Hale Waiaha is one of our favorite vacation rentals ever

Hale Waiaha was one of the very best vacation rentals we have had — and we have rented a lot! The house was beautiful, comfortable, clean and well-stocked, especially the kitchen, which as a big cook I very much appreciated. The property manager Chaundra is very attentive to details and quick to respond to any issue. We loved the quiet farming community and the nearby town of Holualoa. The view from the back-deck is superb and it is nice and cool to be up in the mountains . . . but still 15 minutes to town and beaches. We had a delightful week on the Big Island with lots of hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, volcano gazing, Kona coffee drinking & fish eating. Highly recommend and we hope to be back next year!

Beautiful home with amazing views and a lot of privacy

This home, nestled among coffee plantations, is spacious and beautifully furnished. We ended every day on the big lanai enjoying the views. The check-in directions with pictures were very clear. Be aware that the driveway is very steep down hill and a bit bumpy, but it is paved. The house was very clean and all the appliances were in working order. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large, and the living area is open and very comfortable.

Perfect for a family getaway!

This was my family’s first visit to the Big Island and we were extremely happy with this find! I booked this home for my family of 7 (2 grandparents, 4 adults and an 8 month old infant). The 4-bedroom home was perfect for our group. Aside from the bedrooms, the home itself was very well furnished (rooms, beach supplies, toiletries, kitchen cooking utensils, etc.), lending itself to a truly homey feel. I would also like to add that the home was very clean and everything was neatly laid out (which is something I always appreciate). The owner was very communicative from the moment I booked the rental till checkout date. He provided excellent instructions on how to get to the home ahead of my arrival and was very responsive to all my questions throughout my stay. We found the home to be conveniently located. It’s about 25 minutes from the KOA airport. From the home, we were able to drive to all the tourist destinations we wanted to see quite easily. We had easy access to the major highways and did not have to deal with much traffic during our stay. The home itself is located in a gated area, which gives an added sense of privacy/escape feel. Additionally, I appreciated the festivity of the owner. I booked the home for the Christmas holiday and the owner had a Christmas tree in the home (making it all the more homey for my family)!! We would definitely revisit this home again if we have another family Big Island vacation! It was a great experience!

Amazing House, Beautiful Views

Absolutely gorgeous house, the pictures do not do it justice! Great view of the ocean, also right next door to a macadamia farm, so cool views of the fields and neat wildlife, we really felt immersed in the Kona lifestyle! Well-appointed kitchen, and the furniture is great - we loved the huge coffee table, great for playing card games in the evenings. The host was super-responsive as well. My only recommendation would be to upgrade your rental car to an SUV - its on a fairly steep road and our teensy compact sounded pitiful trying to make it up the hill!
