A terrible experience
This was a very disappointing property. Unfortunately, we ignored the early warning signs.Although the property is listed as pet friendly, we received a notice asking us to keep pets off the furniture and a request for additional cleaning fees. Other VRBO rentals did not ask for this.Check in time was 6:00pm. When asked why this was so late, they offered an earlier check-in for additional fees.The passcode they provided for the key box did not work. After spending 30 minutes trying to access the property on a cold and dark night, we decided to go to a hotel.After seeing 2 police cars investigating a car a block from the property, we decided to look up the area's crime statistics. Crime rates in this area are 3 to 4 times the national average for burglary, assault, robbery and murder. The property is gated, but we decided staying was not worth the risk.The property manager (Phillip) was responsive, but sent us to VRBO for any information on cancellations and refunds. He then instructed VRBO that he would not provide a refund. Since we did not ask to access the property on the 2nd day, he informed us that he would not he would not let us access the property. So, no refund, and no use of the property.Our experience did not match the 5 'stars' the manager listed in the title for this property. Admittedly, we did not make it into the unit, but the overall experience was terrible compared to our many other VRBO stays.
