When we arrived there was what looked to be sewer or something gross coming out of a pipe at the house next door. The driveway was wet looking so not sure if it was seeping up from that. The house is very old & not deep cleaned. The master bed frame was coming apart, literally had to hand tighten several bolts almost coming out. The toilet in one bathroom is literally about to fall thru the floor. If you step near the toilet the floor squishes. There was laundry left in the dryer & some bedding in the washer. One bedroom had hair all over the sheets when we pulled the covers back as well as a pretty large dirty spot on the side making me feel like the sheets werent changed in that room. There were small kids handprints all over the window in the livong room. The kitchen window had a piece of trim placed to keep someone from accessing it open from the outside because the window doesnt lock.

We wanted to be in Waldo and this was the perfect location for us. The house is very comfortable and spacious inside; great wifi, nice bathrooms and kitchen, exactly as pictured on VRBO. John was a nice and very responsive host. This will certainly be our first choice the next time we return to KC.

Great Location

The location of this cute little bungalow can't be beat. We were close to so much and it was a great way to see the city. It was so easy to get around. Also, there is a walking trail right next door which is incredible for morning walks.

Nice and cozy house. Plenty of room for 4-6 people to stay. Good location. Nice to not have to provide toilet paper, trash bags, etc. The host was awesome! Easy to work with and very helpful.

Mosquitoes greeted us heartily when we arrived, making any time spent outdoors unpleasant & risky.

Canā€™t believe they consider Lamarā€™s Donuts their favorite - service was curt, donuts were common& price was outlandish ā€” $28. for a dozen holes, 3 bear claws & 2 coffees!!! The place, like so much these days was over-priced & bed linens were cheapā€¦ Sound like Oskar, donā€™t I..?

Family vacation in KC

The host was very responsive. Lovely home with 2 bathrooms. Loved the laundry and kitchen large enough for meals and cooking. My teens took walks and went on runs in the trail. Enjoyed the local thrift shops. And proximity to since fast food and bbq.

A little overpriced for what you get

Iā€™ll start with the positives. House is generally well located with easy access to Kansas City sites. The Trolley trail was great for walking our dog and there were always people out and about. Walkable to a Bier garden and ice cream shop and close to a shopping center with Target, Trader Joeā€™s a movie theater etc. The neighborhood seems to be a mixed bag- some nice houses some run down ones. This property is renovated, but still a little worn out. Weeds in the front yard, dingy rugs and the table on the outside deck was so weathered it was uncomfortable to sit at. The floors could have used a good mopping and the main bathroom shower curtain had mildew on it which made the bathroom smell. The property right across the street is a real estate business with a dumpster out front. I would have expected more for the price theyā€™re asking. We also had an issue with the electricity having been out when we arrived. The owner refunded us, but the thermostat was inoperable for the length of our stay. We had ac, but couldnā€™t adjust the temperature. I would have liked a grill out back and an icemaker in the fridge , but the kitchen was otherwise well stocked. Overall we were a little disappointed with the house- it could stand a bit of a refresh.

Sweet little house in South Kansas City

This property was a gem of a find in the Waldo neighborhood. Nicely renovated small old home in an established neighborhood close to lots to do in Kansas City. Owners were a pleasure to work with communicated with us quickly and kindly. Would recommend this property.

Comfy, clean, and convenient

The Crown House was lovelyā€”very clean and comfortable, with plenty of room to stretch out. The locationā€”right next to the converted trolley trail, and in a safe and fun neighborhoodā€”was great. Restaurants, great coffee shop, and bars/breweries in walking distance, grocery store nearby, and an easy drive to other parts of town. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, and other kitchen essentials to cook at home. And John was a great communicator and very helpful. Easily one of the most comfortable stays I've had in a VRBO rental.

We only spent one night at this house and were not there very much. Clean and cute. He allowed for us to early check in because we had an event to go to, and we appreciated that. Great communication. My only complaint was my bed was not very comfortable & felt uneven.

cozy clean home

This is an older smaller home that has been nicely fixed up as a rental. There are some sweet touches throughout. We enjoyed that the kitchen was well stocked for cooking, that the bathrooms were sparkling clean, and that there were some games for families to play together. The little outdoor deck has privacy and is sweet for sitting together. It is right by a walking trail. If you turn to the right on the trail from the house the path is nicer and leads to a park with a play structure for kids. The owner is very responsive and accommodating. I had asked before booking if the sheets were cotton and he said yes. But when we arrived they were not. I informed him of this and within a half hour he came over with totally new bedding for the whole house and many apologies. The neighborhood is not fancy. But was very convenient for us to drive to museums and to the events in Kansas City that we came for. The only downside I will mention is that the home is only a block away from a busy street. We did hear cars throughout the night in the two bedrooms that are closer to the main street. If you are a light sleeper this is something to be aware of. But overall the home worked very well for the weekend.
