I’ll daydream about returning to this very special property for a long time. It was so unique and beautiful. Very clean, well decorated, and well taken care of. It is secluded & quiet, aside from the welcomed noises of the jungle & the roosters :) the host was wonderful and responsive. The resident kitties, Nala & Torte, were so friendly and interactive. They made the stay all the more special. I would return here in a heartbeat & will forever be thankful for our stay here.

We had a fantastic time at this vacation rental! The pictures don’t fully capture the experience—it felt like staying in a Swiss Family Robinson treehouse. The cats on the property were a huge hit with our kids, and the roaming chickens added to the authentic Hawaii vibe we’ve loved on other islands.The beds were comfy, everyone had their own space, the patio was great for meals and relaxing, and the outdoor shower was a fun touch. The host was excellent with communication and provided great local tips.Highlights from our time on the east side included the black sand beach, nearby waterfalls, stargazing at Mauna Kea (the most amazing night sky I’ve ever seen), Hilo Farmers Market, Volcanoes National Park, Shipman’s Beach (a host recommendation and our favorite!), and dinner at Pineapples in Hilo. Shipman’s was about a 2.5-mile hike each way—rocky and muddy on the trail but worth it for the peaceful setting, sea turtles, and gentle waves.Tips for future guests: G**gle Maps worked best for finding the property. It’s walking distance to scenic ocean cliffs, but you’ll drive to most activities. There are great food trucks and coffee stands nearby (about 20 minutes round-trip), and Hilo is roughly 30 to 40 minutes away - helpful for activity planning.Overall, this was our favorite stay in Hawaii—our kids even listed the house itself as a highlight of the trip!

Our stay at Christina’s treehouse in Hawaii was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed and taken care of. Christina went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. She stayed in touch throughout our trip, checking in via text and providing excellent local recommendations (you have to check out the Paradise Cliffs).

Beautiful eclectic property

Christine is very communicative and this is a one of a kind property! The cats ate the best and the thoughtfulness of the design is top notch. We loved all of the ideas about where to go and what to do as well. We had to work a little to figure out how to cool down the rooms quickly but that was more us than the property :). You really felt like you got away from it all!

Beautiful property, didn't feel welcomed

Where do I begin; a few days before checkin I got a message with instructions for our arrival, half of which was a list of everything that was NOT included in our rental (pretty much the whole downstairs half the house- I messaged the owner to make sure we did book a private property as advertised. There must be some serious security concerns with this place, as there are exterior cameras and warnings all over the property. As soon as we checked in and parked I received a text asking to move our car to the designated parking, just a few feet away from where we had parked. No problem. I messaged the host, asking where the second half bath was located... got a very defensive reply explaining that the outdoor shower was the second bathroom. Ok on that too I guess even though I never heard of an outdoors shower being called a bathroom. There was only hot water in our bathroom sink no cold water, which I wasn't notified about until right before checkin. By the next morning she allowed us to use the downstairs bathroom and do laundry for free, but we were already so turned off that we didn't bother.This is a beautiful well equipped house and nice property, but there are too many restrictions and we really weren't sure what we were and were not allowed to do while on property it made me wonder if there were cameras inside the house as well. There are lots of other great vacation rentals you can stay with less drama Sadly this review will probably get a terse reply from the owner

Awesome Treehouse

Our family enjoyed our stay in the "treehouse"! A unique place, very quiet neighborhood close to the ocean. Host is very responsive and helpful, we had a minor plumbing issue and they were on top of it right away. The kids enjoyed playing with the cats. The one downside is there's not much as far as restaurants/stores super close if that's what you're looking for, but overall we loved it.

This lives up to all the pics and description! We had a hard time leaving to venture out for the day, as we just wanted to enjoy the “treehouse”! Highly recommend booking this adorable place and plan to chill for a couple days and just enjoy! Mahalo Christina!

A beautiful house in a quiet location

The house is on a 1-acre lush property in a quiet neighborhood set one street back from the ocean. Very convenient location but one should have a vehicle as the neighborhood is enormous and 4 miles to the main road. House was as described but we didn't know up front about the downstairs situation (as Vinnie H. described in May 14, 2024 post). Unfair of him to review as such a low rating as we had the house to ourselves and everything matched the description, including the drinking water. The owner was VERY responsive in communication. Friendly cats around the property (plus all the interesting wildlife). Owner added kitchen & bathroom supplies helped with our short-term rental. I wouldn't hesitate to re-book if we stay in the area again.

Lush tropical haven

The house is spotless and spacious with a lovely lanai looking over the lush tropical garden full of birds. We loved the quirky decor and all of the thoughtful touches such as the Christmas lights and cocktail set. It is very well equipped with everything we needed for cooking and lots of towels.

Renters beware

This was a lovely home sourround by a beautiful landscaping. You must be able to sleep with minimum airconditioning as they turn off every four hours. A/C is controlled by smart devices under the landlords control. This was one of the most miserable experiences we have had in all our years of traveling.

A true tree house experience

We enjoyed this unique property, especially the deck in the morning and evening. The stray cats were sweet and my daughter really liked having them around. Only issue was with the showers. The outdoor closed in shower was very hot and unable to change the temp; the indoor shower was chilly and the other outdoor shower ‘one with nature’ was just right. Other than that, the property was as described.

Family Treehouse Stay

We loved staying in this house. This property is so charming and really feels like you are in Hawaii. Very well-stocked, clean, and comfortable. Perfect location for my family to explore Hilo, go zip lining, and visit Volcanoes National Park and the black sand beach.

Didn't get what we rented

Let me start off by saying this house is beautiful. However, what we got is not what was advertised. The day before getting to this rental we got an email from the owner informing us we “only rented the main part of the home”, which was a surprise to us as nothing indicated this rental was split in any way. Because of the “split” pretty much the whole lower level was off limits. That same email also informed us you would need to transport water to the rental as the tap water is not potable and should not be consumed in any way. None of these things were stated in the advertisement of this rental. We had some conversations with the owner, she seemed surprised to learn what VRBO had listed for her rental but that doesn’t change the fact that we did not get what we paid for. Since all this started they have changed the listing, somewhat. It has been over 2 weeks and VRBO has not yet addressed a requested portion for refund.

We loved our 2-night stay at the tree house. The property is large. Bedrooms are comfortable. There is a great porch where you can sit and not get wet when the rain comes. We got in late, and it was really dark but had no issues.

OVerall, quite good. I would readily trade some of the decoration for some cool cotton sheets! Also, the house is a couple blocks off the ocen, not on it as suggested by the VRBO picture. But close enough to hear the waves crashing on the shore when the tide is coming in at night...

Loved it. Overall atmosphere felt like being in a jungle. Interesting decor. Deck was a favorite hangout. Quality appliances and well stocked kitchen. Enjoyed our excursion to Pohoiku black sand beach and lava flow landscape.

Unique house with rainforest vibes

We loved staying at Christina's treehouse! Location was wonderful (it was very private) and it was amazing to hear the wildlife in the mornings and night. The stargazing from the balcony was also superb! Overall, the house was very clean and well equipped with basic cooking ingredients and cookware. Our only issue was with the bedding on the queen bed. It had a comforter (which was too hot to use given the weather) and the fitted sheet looked dirty. Some thinner quilts or blankets would be great (there were no spare ones we could find), including some newer cotton sheets. Otherwise, we highly recommend Christina's treehouse!
