Review

The location is a straight shot to the beach which was nice. The pool was ideal and clean. The house could use some minor upgrades. The deck is shot with lots of nail heads popping up so use caution. The AC worked perfect and the rooms are decent sized for sleeping arrangements. Kitchen area is small and dish washer doesn’t have a lot of power to throughly clean dishes so plan on hand washing. It wouldn’t take much to make this property a sought after house

Great location, house needs work

The good: Great location, easy 3 min walk to the beach, nice neighborhood, the pool was nice. The bad: we’ve been vacationing at OBX for almost 15 years
this is the first time that we’ve been annoyed with the upkeep of our rental house. Maybe we’ve been lucky, but this house definitely needs some upkeep. Appliances need updated, half the wall outlets don’t work or are glitchy, and every single bed in the house “sagged” or “leaned”. Rental company was great about getting maintenance out for the broken fridge
but only so much they can do. Listed as a basic beach house, I get it but still doesn’t mean you can’t update the house with the basics. Won’t rent this particular house again

Just Don't

If you are above the age of 30 and are expecting a clean home, this is not the one. Everything feels like it needs a good wipe down or a new paint job. Updates are greatly needed. Bugs are bad too. May be part of staying in Duck, but hiring someone to do a regular power wash to outside of house and an exterminator would be a great idea.

This property is NOT what is advertised

This property in reality is not like the pictures. Everything is very run down. Outdoor furniture by the pool is rusting and falling apart, blinds in the house are broken, furniture inside also looks run down and the third floor deck did not feel safe to walk on. I know the management company has replied on previous reviews and said that people should manage their expectations as this is a basic beach rental. A basic beach rental is fine, but something that is that different from the pictures is not acceptable. And the management company will reply and probably say "Why didn't you contact us"? Well, because this is obviously something they aren't concerned about and things haven't improved since previous reviews. I think the biggest statement I can make is that when we arrived I let my 1 year old son take off his sandals and walk around the living room. A few hours later when I looked at his feet they were black from the carpet, which didn't look dirty. But its probably just old and has years of neglect. The state of this place didn't make our stay comfortable and that was a shame. This was not worth the price we paid for it and I hope my honest review helps others make the right choice in the future.

Pictures can be deceiving

The bedrooms were smaller than pictured. The lower level game room smelled very moldy so we did not use it. We found bed bugs on our second day and had to leave the property. The management company had a bug service out very quickly and refunded our entire rental amount however, they kind of fell down on the job of finding us another place to stay. We had 2 big dogs with us, which was why I rented this pet friendly house, but they had no other properties available to us. They left it up to me to find another rental or go home. I was fortunate to call Village Realty who went above and beyond to find me a place to move to that day! They saved our vacation!

Steps away from paradise

This house is very well maintained. The rental company was on top of all of needs. The pool and hot tub are well maintained also. It was a quiet week within the street. The walk to the beach was not bad at all. We did drive some of the family to the access, they set up on the beach and other walked. We loved the different level and options on the porches. The only negative, which wasn't really a negative to us, was the lower basement room was very musty and the the game tables did not seem playable. It was segregated from the other parts of the house, so we just used the fridge to keep extra drinks cold for the beach. We really enjoyed ourselves and this home, would return!!

This house is disgusting

This house is so disgusting. Everything was dirty and smelled horrible. The game room smelled like rotten carpet. The carpet was disgusting. We always stay in the obx but this is by far one of the worst houses. DO NOT RENT IT. The beds are made out of rock nobody in our family could sleep. The bed sheets had some kind of urine in them. We couldn’t stat another day in that house so we left early. We tried to contact the owners but it was no use. There is also a privacy issue with this house. A guy came into the property to drop off refrigerator while we were sleeping like what kind of house is this. It was a invasion of privacy. Overall please do not stay here

Nice week away

Overall it was a nice week away. The property is rather dated but served the purpose. Location to the beach was fine and we traveled easily into duck or Corolla. One annoyance was that some of the doors and windows were missing screens. So that was disappointing to be unable to keep doors and windows open to enjoy the ocean air without getting bugs in.

Needs a head to toe cleaning. And some new paint,, furniture, and rugs. Good location to the beach and a nice pool area were the plus.

Not the best, but not the worst ....

The beach house itself is very out-dated and needs a lot of work. We tried to spend most of our time outside of the house as much as possible. I was definitely disappointed when we pulled in and the house was covered by overgrown vegetation. The third floor stays HOT! It doesn't cool down until late night due to the sky lights. The only thing we really enjoyed was the pool and hot tub out back. The back patio area was equipped with plenty of seating and umbrellas. It was very enjoyable. The walk to the beach was not bad. However, the walk back was a bit intense. You have to walk up a large hill to get back to the house. Overall we had an okay experience. It wasn't the best rental, but it also was the worst.

MUCH needed COVID Free get-away

Best way to vacation and still be able to avoid people to minimize exposure to the virus. The house is dated and needs a few repairs but served it's purpose well for the 4 of us. The top floor gets hot but that is no different than any other home. The main thing was that the sleeping areas were cool and comfortable!

Great location and size

The location and size of the house was great. Close to the beach and downtown Duck. There were a few snags with breakers but the maintenance team was very quick to respond. The pool was perfect. The only drawback to this house is that it was very dated and could use bathroom, furniture and flooring upgrades. For the price point it was a good option
