Nice home

Home was clean with a nice layout. Kitchen well stocked with dishes utensils and cooking pans. Out door grill has a gas line. Nice pool and hot tub with 2 outdoor showers. Outside of home needs some work. Torn screens on porch. Decks need some sanding and painting. House sits along a busy road and is noisy sitting outside and you need to be very careful crossing street to beach. During our stay we had little to no Wi-Fi service and no streaming for TV because of no internet during the entire week. When we called for repair someone came immediately but it could not be fixed during our stay. Apparently had been a problem at this home for some time even before our stay. Overall a great vacation!

Fantastic vacation

Was a little worried heading to the rental due to some on line reviews but was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The location was great. The inside of the property was wonderful. The outside could use some maintenance but nothing horrible.

Wonderful Week

We had an absolutely wonderful week in Southern Shores. It was just my husband, son and I with our Silver Lab., so there was more than enough room for all. The common space was awesome - quite large and open and lead to both a deck and screened porch - and accommodated a couple of dinners with friends who were also renting a house for the week. The pool and hot tub were nice to have, as well! Plenty of seating and the covered area was great for taking a break from the sun. The only negatives I saw was the front lawn and bushes was littered with trash when we arrived - most likely, blown into the yard during the previous weeks' storms. Also, the trash and recycling cans were all overflowing when we arrived - the previous renters most likely could not figure out the trash schedule. Finally, the road is quite busy and loud during the day, as expected, but calmed down significantly as the sun set each evening. This wasn't a real problem for us, as we spent most of our time during the day at the beach - perfect weather! Everything else was absolutely awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

This property is not as advertised. There are many issues with this house.

The house is old and you can tell by the looks in the outside and inside but also by the terrible smell. As soon as we got there, we noticed that the jacuzzi was dirty ( yellow foam and the water was not clear). Also the grill that is available was absolutely disgusting, it was clear that it was not clean and made the room smell greasy. The last drop was when we found cockroaches in the dishwasher and then coming out of the bottom of the refrigerator. This was not a pleasant stay and I invited my family to stay with us. Horrible!!!

Great location but


The location of this property is very nice. The house itself however could really use an update and refresh. The bright spot was the property management firm. When we checked in the furnace wasn’t working and it was after working hours. Their on-call representative was at the house within 5 minutes and when he realized he couldn’t fix the heat he was back within 30 minutes with space heaters for each room. Outer Banks Blue got the repairman out the next day who fixed the issue. If you select this property make sure you bring basic necessities such as coffee filters, salt, pepper, etc as the property has nothing. Also, you will need to bring hair dryers as no hair dryer is provided either. The property is ok but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Home Away From Home

The property was in a great location with a gorgeous view of the ocean. We could walk right across the street to the beach. My husband, children and grandchild were together each day. My favorite part of the home was the level with the kitchen, bar, dinning room and living room altogether. It was spacious and comfortable for us all to be in one area. We had a lovely time.

Location is great. House layout is nice. Adequate amenities. House could use a good thorough cleaning and repairs/ updates on items. DirecTV didn't work so no TV while there, was their issue but still inconvenient and seems to be an ongoing issue they've had. Nails in carpeting sticking up in places are a hazard. Had some bugs trying to vacation with us but they weren't welcome. Would consider staying here again if above mentioned items taken care of.

Enjoyed our stay

Very spacious and clean, kitchen was large and had everything we needed to cook. There are two tables plus counter seating. Hot tub was nice but pool wasn’t opened yet. The road in the front of the house was very busy. It was close the areas we were going to and enjoyed Jockey’s Ridge being so close. The beach access is right across the street and grocery nearby. We were able to bring our dogs and that was a plus. Very responsive to the one issue we had which was a clogged sink. Came out and repaired it quickly. Mattresses probably need to be upgraded because they were not very comfortable and worn. It’s not the most updated place and could use some painting on the decks but it was good for us and was very clean. Overall very good stay!

Close to beach access and pet friendly

I loved that we could include our bulldog, Lucy- she loves the beach! This is a nice property- we enjoyed our stay for a family wedding. The grill and hot tub could really use updated. The batteries in most of the remotes were dead- so an annoyance really- since we didn't want to replace all the batteries. The house has great water pressure and the heat and ac both work well (it was a weird spring weather week- 84 and then 32 degrees:))

Family Thanksgiving Dinner

Every year we rent a house to have Thanksgiving dinner with our immediate family. We look for large kitchens where everyone can enjoy the cooking process. This house did not disappoint. They had plenty of dishes, utensils and cooking supplies. Yes the house is a bit dated but we have done rentals for years. This did not warrant all the negative reviews previously given. It needs some new furniture and a fresh coat of paint. Done minor repairs but otherwise it was comfortable. The rental company checked in on us Thanksgiving day which was nice. I would stay again.

Unwind and recharge

The perfect getaway for me and my new husband and bridesmaids. It was the perfect location in proximity to beach and venue at the Kitty Hawk pier. Very relaxing place to unwind by pool or hot tub and drink coffee on the deck with the morning sunrise

Could be better with some effort.

Cleanliness and maintenance of the property needs improvement. The first floor of the property smelled Overwhelmingly horrible like cat urine. There was Human feces/diarrhea splatter on the floor in the 2nd floor bathroom upon check in. We spent our entire first evening cleaning the property so we felt comfortable staying there given the current COVID environment. The couch in the living room should be replaced as there were many many stains and spots.. There was other damaged furniture on the second floor. Screens for screened in porch were damaged/broken out. The air conditioning unit for the second floor stopped working during our stay in October, and property management blamed the “hot fall weather”. Upon request, Property management company could not provide me with a detailed explanation of the charges prior to check in date. The best part of the house is proximity to the beach and beach access. The outdoor space at the property provides ample decking, a pool, and hot tub which are nice features that not all properties have available.

Nice Stay

Overall we enjoyed our vacation. Location in perfect! This house is right across the street from access to the beach. Less than a 1 minute walk. Also, right down the street from Walmart and other shops. House was big enough for 6 adults and 1 baby. Pool size was nice and there was more than enough seating for everyone. Cons: Only basic cable (10 or so channels). But that's only for night time when going to bed Outdoor grill in terrible shape. Legs were broken and probably not able to be used "Indoor" grill also was not in great shape. Exterior was dirty and we did not feel comfortable using it in their screened-in porch. Did not want to burn down the house lol We ended up buying a grill and took it home.

Dirty House

There's NO WAY they "upped" their cleaning during this pandemic!! Toilet had poop stains on the seat!! Someone's PILLS were on the floor half spilled out of a plastic baggy. We had a 2 1/2 year old with us!!!!! God only knows if she had gotten them before us! A pile of sand was in the bedroom which means it was NOT vacuumed! Grills were HORRIFIC!!!!! Cans of disgusting grease left & one grill totally broken so not able to use. Had wasp nest inside!!! Grill on RIPPED screened porch was DISGUSTING!!! Couldn't even BBQ the stuff we brought down! So GROSS!!! I HAVE PICTURES IF NEEDED!! I only had ONE request before we came and that was to NOT put the sheets on the beds & to leave the comforters OFF the beds. Besides being easier for the cleaning staff my request was totally ignored!
