In one of the best kept secrets in California, this home along the foothills of the Sierra Nevada range is a tranquil escape for couples, small families or a handful of close friends. The property is proximal to all of the Kern River Valley’s attractions and is set in a peaceful neighborhood with awe-inspiring views all around. Featuring an open floor plan and modern design, guests will have both convenience and amenities to create amazing memories.

The space

Welcome to Oakridge Ranch! This home invites guests to explore distinct indoor and outdoor areas for both rest and entertainment. Divided into two distinct sections spread across a spacious single level floor plan, guests can find the perfect spot that suits them best at any given moment. An open area combines living, dining and cooking, coupled with updated modern décor that welcomes visitors for that overdue getaway.

Start the day with a cup of coffee or a bowl of cereal at the kitchen peninsula bar counter. Enjoy vistas and watch the sun rise and set over the mountains while preparing favorite meals in the fully equipped kitchen. Culinary creations can be enjoyed indoors at the dining area. Outdoor lovers can opt to grill a favorite meal and dine al fresco on the patio, then take in the brightening stars as night falls in the expansive backyard area. As the day draws to a close, wind down in the spacious living area. Whether curling up with a favorite book, watching your favorite show or movie on the large flat-screen Roku smart television or playing one of the provided board games, there is plenty to keep one entertained.

After the end of a day of adventure and exploration, guests can find peace and relaxation in one of two nicely appointed bedrooms in a separate wing of the home. The larger bedroom features two beds with an en-suite bathroom and an additional flat-screen Roku smart television. The second bedroom offers an intimate space with a private work station, ideal for taking Zoom calls when working remotely. Located next to the bedroom is an additional bathroom, which features an accessible walk-in tub and shower suited for those with mobility needs. Guests can also use the pull out sleeper sofa in the living area for the night and awake to the picturesque scenery of the surrounding mountains. Everyone will be sure to get a serene night’s rest at this tranquil getaway.

Explore the historical and quaint town of Kernville for Whiskey Flat Days. Hit the slopes at Alta Sierra. Get an adrenaline fix from white water rafting on the Kern River. Take in the fresh air and incredible scenery on one of the area's hiking trails. Simply enjoy a relaxing day out fishing or boating on Lake Isabella. All of these are possible during your stay at Oakridge Ranch where there is something for everyone!

Other things to note

Our home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. Please be respectful of our community and neighbors. Parties, events, or large gatherings are strictly prohibited. In addition, excessive noise at any time is never allowed and quiet hours are in place every day between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.

The sleeping arrangements at our home can accommodate up to 8 guests with 2 queen beds in the primary bedroom, a queen bed in the guest bedroom, and a sofa bed in the living room.

We welcome responsible and responsive guests over the age of 21. Any and all persons staying or visiting the property must be 18 years of age or older unless accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian.

A copy of the guest's government issued ID must be shared with the host upon a confirmed reservation. This is for safety and security purposes and is strictly required in order to stay at our home.

Pets allowed with restrictions and additional fees (please see house rules).

If a guest cancels a reservation, all eligible refunds will be governed by the cancellation policy agreed upon at time of booking. No refunds outside of the cancellation policy will be possible unless a mandatory evacuation is ordered for the area. Thus, it is highly recommended that all guests purchase trip cancellation/interruption insurance. In the event that a guest cannot make a trip due to a family emergency, illness, bad weather, flight/rental car cancellation, job loss, COVID-19 ban/restriction, etc., the guest should seek reimbursement through their travel insurance.

Mother Nature’s creatures both great and small also reside in the area in which our home is situated. We subscribe to regularly scheduled pest control services so our guests can have an enjoyable stay. Despite measures we have taken to keep the home free of such events, it is not uncommon to have a stray visitor come into the house through an open door or window even if left ajar for a brief moment. While we cannot be held responsible for encounters with pests or wildlife inside or outside the home, if notified immediately of such an occurrence, arrangements can be made to accordingly try to address the issue. No refunds will be offered for these encounters.

Property has 4 motion-activated exterior security cameras (at front door, driveway, backyard, and side yard) that record sound and video 24/7 and decibel monitoring sensors inside and outside of the home to ensure neighborhood noise levels are respected. Tampering/removing equipment will result in a minimum fine of $300.

House rules

Please be respectful of our home, neighborhood, and community. Violation of any of the following rules are grounds for cancellation of your stay and immediate removal from the property:
- 8 guest maximum occupancy; no unauthorized guests (penalty fee of $100 per unauthorized person, per night will apply).
- No smoking or vaping.
- No parties, events, or large gatherings.
- No excessive noise; quiet hours in place between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
- No underage drinking or use of illegal substances.
- Copy of a government issued ID must be shared with the Host upon confirmed reservation.
- Any loss or damage to real or personal property of a Host caused by the fault, negligence or intentional misconduct of a Guest (and any of their guests or pets) shall be charged to and paid for by the Guest.

Responsible guests and their well-mannered furry companion are welcome to our home, for whom the following pet policy applies:
- Only 1 dog weighing 50 pounds or less is permitted unless agreed upon in advance with the Host. No other pets or animals allowed (e.g., cats, birds, etc.), and a penalty fee of $100 per unauthorized animal, per night will apply.
- An additional one-time pet fee of $100 (before fees and taxes) per stay will apply.
- The dog must remain within the owner’s control at all times, either on a leash or in a carrier as appropriate.
- The dog must never be left alone on the property. However, for only short periods of time when it is not possible for the owner to take the dog with them where they go, then the dog can be crated or confined to a specific area in the home.
- We expect the dog to be completely house trained. Please clean up after the pet.
- The dog is not allowed on the furniture/beds.
- We count on the owner to prevent the dog from making excessive noise, being disruptive, or exhibiting aggression toward other guests or neighbors.
- In the unlikely event the property requires additional cleaning (e.g., fur/hair, potty, etc.) or if damages are incurred as a result of the dog, you will be charged additional fees starting at a minimum of $300 for services and repairs.

We arrived in the dark, from the east, and just ate a bite before crashing. Imagine our wonder to wake with the sun glinting off Lake Isabella and the tail of the Sierra in the background: what a view! While we unloaded into the spacious property, we let the pup explore the big back yard. She was fascinated by the local scent palette, and trotted happily around to explore her domain.We were just as pleased by the spacious, open design and well-equipped kitchen. We usually cook instead of eating out, and the local Von’s had everything we needed. For fun, we also went down-canyon to Bakersfield, for a “big(ish) city” day. The location is calm and quiet, with little traffic, Dog-girl enjoyed walks, especially when investigating the huge digger pine cones or catching wind of the horse just up the hill.We’d hoped to visit Sequoia and King’s Canyon, but someone had closed them that week
 or month. We did see that the road out of Kernville leads deep into national forest, reaching the Trail of 100 Giants in about an hour. Warning: the 2nd half of the trip is on roads not for the faint of heart. To reward ourselves, we stopped for burgers and beers at Kern River Brewing on the north shore. Dog girl was welcomed on the patio and got her own bowl of water. We humans greatly enjoyed our stay at Oakridge Ranch, and heard no complaints from our canine companion. She did not, however try the bidets in the bathrooms; she’d have probably thought them fancy drinking fountains.

We enjoyed the house. It was very clean and comfortable. The views from the house were very nice - you can see the lake from the living room & front area and the mountains from the back yard. The owners were very responsive whenever we asked them questions. The one downside was that the neighbor's dogs barked all the time destroying the lovely peacefulness of the backyard. We did mention this this to the owners and they reached out to the neighbors. The barking decreased after they spoke with them.

Amazing place!

My family and I traveled over Spring Break to visit our son who lives in Weldon and this place was absolutely perfect for us! It was beautiful and immaculate! What an amazing home! I grew up in the area but moved away 31 years ago! I need a little “home” in my life so I packed my 15 year old daughter up & back home we went! This house was nothing short of amazing. I spent 23 nights dreaming of owning this home & making it mine! The owners thought of everything! I spent so much time staring out the back windows at the woodpeckers pecking the trees & then staring at the amazing view of the lake out the front window. I work remotely & this home was well equipped for that purpose. All I can say is AMAZING & I can’t wait to go “home” again!!!

Wonderful place to stay at lake Isabella!

Perfectly situated where you can see the lake from the living room and dining room windows. Very well appointed and equipped house. Very tasteful furniture and decor. The photos barely do it justice. Great bedrooms and baths - everything you need and plenty of stratagem space. Big yard with a great view of the mountain and trees - perfect to grill and hang out after a long day fishing and hiking. The big beautiful kitchen has absolutely everything you would need. Everything sparkling and very new. The location is perfect as well - 2 minutes to the lake and a great fishing spot, just a couple of miles from a great boat rental place and many hiking trails. Groceries, gas right down the street. We will be coming back. Gorgeous property and we had a wonderful stay.
